How to start the motorcycle with the Keyless Ride system?
Make sure the radio remote is within about 1 meter of the motorcycle. Briefly press the unlock button to turn on the ignition (the parking light comes on). Then press the kill switch to the MOVE position, pull the clutch lever, and press the starter button until the engine runs.
What to do if the engine warning light (Engine !) lights up yellow?
The engine management system has detected a fault. Visit a specialized workshop as soon as possible, preferably a BMW Motorrad dealer. You can usually continue riding, but avoid hard acceleration.
How to adjust the rider seat height?
Under the seat is the height adjustment. Remove the seat, then change the position of the mounting lugs. The seat can be adjusted to several positions. Refer to chapter 06 (Adjustment) of the manual for details.
How to activate the cruise control?
The cruise control is operated via the left handlebar switch. Press the corresponding button to activate it, then set the desired speed with the toggle lever. The speed is maintained automatically. Press the brake or disengage the clutch to deactivate.
How to replace a fuse on the R 1250 GS Adventure?
The fuse box is located under the seat. Open the cover, identify the faulty fuse using the diagram attached. Replace it with a fuse of the same amperage (see technical specifications). Close the cover and reinstall the seat.
What engine oil is recommended?
Use BMW Motorrad engine oil or an equivalent oil meeting specifications: SAE 5W-40, API SL or higher, and JASO MA2. The level must be between the MIN and MAX marks after checking when hot.
How to check the coolant level?
The coolant reservoir is on the right side of the motorcycle, behind the fairing. Check the level when cold: it must be between the MIN and MAX marks. If necessary, top up with a suitable coolant (glycol-based).
How to use the tire pressure monitoring system (RDC)?
The RDC displays actual and target pressures on the TFT screen. After riding above 30 km/h, the values appear. If the pressure is out of tolerance, a warning message appears. Correct the pressure when cold according to the values on the sticker under the seat.
How to activate the Hill Start Control?
The assistant activates automatically on a slope when the brake is applied. On the TFT screen, a green symbol appears. To use it, release the brake: the motorcycle remains stationary for a few seconds, giving you time to start. Deactivate it by riding off or deploying the side stand.
What to do in case of loss of the Keyless Ride key?
Contact a BMW Motorrad dealer. You will need to present the other keys of the vehicle to order a new one. The lost key can be deactivated from the electronic immobilizer system (EWS) to prevent unauthorized use.
