What type of cable to use with this patch panel?

Use STP (shielded) or F/FTP cables for optimal termination. UTP cables are not recommended.

How to properly install the ground wire?

Strip the jacket 50 mm, unbraid the braid or foil, and ensure the ground wire makes good contact with the back panel. Wrap the ground wire at least twice around the foil.

Is this panel compatible with a standard rack?

Yes, it is 1U form factor and mounts in any standard 19-inch rack.

What punch down tool to use?

Use a punch down tool compatible with Krone IDC connectors with a low force setting to avoid damaging contacts.

Can I use RJ11 (6P) cables?

No, RJ11 plugs must not be inserted into RJ45 ports. Use only RJ45 connectors.

How to secure cables after termination?

Use the included nylon cable ties to secure cables to the built-in cable manager. Do not overtighten the ties.

What is the recommended strip length?

Remove about 50 mm of the outer jacket. For the metallic foil, remove about 2 mm of the exposed length.

Is grounding mandatory?

Yes, for safety and performance reasons, the panel must be grounded via the included grounding strap.

What is the warranty on this product?

Tripp Lite offers a limited lifetime warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.

How to clean the patch panel?

Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust. Do not use chemicals or liquids.

Installation

1 Prepare Cables.

S/FTP Cable

Remove approximately 50 mm of cable sheath.

Roll the exposed braid back along the cable sheath.

Where a foil screen is present, remove approximately 2 mm of the exposed length.

Separate the conductors.

F/FTP Cable

Remove approximately 50 mm of cable sheath.

Roll the exposed foil back along the cable sheath.

Where a foil screen is present, remove approximately 2 mm of the exposed length.

Wrap the drain wire at least twice around the foil. Separate the conductors.

Installation

2 Seat each wire into the IDC slots according to the color scheme map. Punch down with a proper impact tool.

3 Make sure the drain wire has good contact with the rear panel.

4 Use nylon cable ties to secure the bulk cables to the cable manager.

Cut off all excess straps.

Note: Do not over-tighten the cables.

5 Attach the patch panel to a rack or cabinet.

6 Attach the panel's grounding bond to the rack or cabinet.

Notes:

• When terminating cables onto the patch panel, set your impact tool to low impact.
• Do not insert RJ11 6P plug.

Lifetime Limited Warranty

Tripp Lite warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for life. Tripp Lite's obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at its sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center. Products must be returned to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center with transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of date and place of purchase. This warranty does not apply to equipment, which has been damaged by accident, negligence or misapplication or has been altered or modified in any way.
