Frequently Asked Questions - GE2030 Concept

How to use the preset programs?

After plugging in the appliance and pressing the power button, select the desired program with the + and - buttons, then confirm with the ▷ button. Depending on the program (pork, fish steak), the appliance will ask you to choose the doneness: Rare, Medium or Well done. Once preheating is complete, place your food.

How to clean the plates?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Remove the plates by pressing the release buttons. Wash them by hand or in the dishwasher. Never use metal objects or abrasive sponges to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.

What to do in case of odor or smoke during first use?

This is normal: a small cloud of smoke and a slight odor may appear. To remedy this, heat the appliance empty for 5 to 10 minutes in DIY mode at 240°C. After cooling, clean the plates with a damp cloth.

Can I use unsuitable plates?

No, use only the plates provided with the appliance or accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Using unsuitable plates may damage the appliance and void the warranty.

How to adjust the temperature in manual mode (DIY)?

After selecting DIY program, use the + and - buttons to set the desired temperature, then the cooking time. Confirm with the ▷ button. The appliance will start preheating.

How to open the grill to 180°?

Press the button (6) on the right side of the handle, then fold the handle backwards. This allows the grill to open flat for use as a plancha. Note: the appliance must be unplugged and cooled before any manipulation.

What to do if food sticks to the plates?

Make sure the plates are clean and the non-stick coating is not damaged. Use a little oil or butter before cooking. Avoid metal utensils that could scratch the surface.

Is the appliance under warranty?

Yes, the warranty is 24 months from the date of purchase. It covers manufacturing defects but not normal wear, damage caused by improper use or unauthorized interventions.

Can I leave the appliance unattended while operating?

No, never leave the appliance unattended while plugged in or in use. The surfaces become very hot and pose a risk of burns or fire. Unplug it after use.

How to store the appliance?

Before storing, clean and dry all parts. The plates can be reassembled or stored separately. Never wrap the cord around the grill. Store the appliance in a dry place, away from heat and humidity.

• Do not use the appliance as a toy.
• Before cleaning and after use of the appliance, switch the appliance off, disconnect it from the mains and allow it to cool down.
• Do not allow the power cord to hang freely over the edge of the table. Do not allow the power cord to touch hot surfaces.
• This appliance is not intended to be controlled by an external device such as a timer or by a separate remote control system.
• Only place the appliance on a stable and heat-resistant surface away from other heat sources such as radiators, ovens, etc. Protect it from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Do not use the appliance in an environment where there are explosive gases and flammable substances (solvents, varnishes, adhesives, etc.).
• Caution - bread may ignite! When using the appliance, keep a sufficient space around and above the appliance to ensure sufficient air circulation. Do not let the appliance come into contact with curtains, wall linings, textile, paper, or other combustible materials while in operation. In addition, it is not recommended to install the appliance near or under the above materials. Do not put any of these materials on top of the appliance.
• Do not use the appliance without the extensible crumb tray. The tray shall be cleaned regularly. Do not allow crumbs to accumulate on the tray. They could touch the heating body and ignite.
• Do not insert any metal objects into the appliance.
• Do not put excessively large pieces of food in the appliance.
• Do not prepare any food containing jam or marmalade in the appliance.
• Do not use coarse and chemically aggressive substances to clean the appliance.
• Do not use the appliance if it is not working properly, has been dropped, damaged or immersed in liquid. Have it checked and repaired by an authorized service centre.
• Do not use the appliance with a damaged cord or plug and have it repaired immediately by an authorized service centre.
• Do not use the appliance outdoors.
• The appliance is only suitable for home use and is not intended for commercial use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The appliance is suitable for home use only. Place the appliance out of reach of water and do not use it near a swimming pool. Do not expose the appliance to rain. The appliance must be plugged in. Place the grill on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface.

Before first use

1. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth and dry.
2. Plug in the grill.
3. Use the button to switch the appliance on.
4. Use the and buttons to select the DIY program.
5. Set the temperature to 240 °C, the time to 5-10 minutes and press the ▷ button to confirm.
6. After the appliance cools down, insert the drip tray into the back of the appliance and the grill is ready for use.

ASSEMBLY AND USE

Pre-set programs

1. Install the grilling plates.
2. Plug in the appliance.
3. Use the button to switch the appliance on.
4. Use the and buttons to select the program and press the button to confirm.

1. After the appliance heats up, insert the food.

If you select the pork, steak, fish program, the display will flash after heating and you have to select how you want to prepare the food.

Use the and buttons to select Rare, Medium or Well Done.

1. When the time is up, open the appliance and remove the food.

If you wish to continue grilling, start again from step 3.

If you open the appliance while it is heating up for more than 10 seconds, the DIY programme is automatically selected.

Note: The appliance is able to detect the thickness of the food and automatically adjust the temperature and time.

Manual mode

1. Install the grilling plates.
2. Plug in the appliance.
3. Use the button to switch the appliance on.
4. Use the and buttons to select the DIY program and press the button to confirm.
5. Use the and buttons to set the time and temperature.
6. When the time is up, open the appliance and remove the food.

If you wish to continue grilling, start again from step 3.

If the appliance is open, only the DIY program can be used.

Installing the plates

1. Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the mains.
2. Position the grill so that the controls are facing you. Lift up the handle and open the grill.
3. Insert the plate into the openings in the covers and press lightly. It will click into place. Repeat the process with the second plate.

Removing the plates

1. Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the mains and has cooled down completely.
2. Press the plate release buttons located on the right side and in the middle of the top front part of the grill.
3. After pressing the button, the plate will pop up slightly out of the base. Lift the plate up and slide it out of the centre brackets. Repeat the process with the second plate.
4. The plates can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.

Fully open position (180°)

If you want to fully open the grill, press the button (6) on the right side of the handle hinge and push the handle back.

Half open position (90°)

The grill can be used in a half open position. If you want to half open the grill, simply lift the handle to a fully upright position. The grill will remain in this position until you close it, or open it to the fully open position.

Removing the drip tray

The grease produced during cooking is drained through small grooves at the back of the plates into a drip tray located at the back of the bottom cover. Clean the drip tray after each use of the appliance, it can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.

Note: When using the appliance for the first time, there may be a puff of smoke and slight odour.

After cooking, unplug the power cord. Allow the appliance to cool down for at least 30 minutes before further handling.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Thoroughly clean each part before and after each use of the appliance.
• After cooking, unplug the power cord and allow the appliance to cool down for at least 30 minutes before further handling.
• Clean grease from the drip tray. The drip tray can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher.
• The plates can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher. Do not use metal objects, such as pot scourers or knives, to clean the appliance. This may damage the non-stick coating of the appliance.
• Use only wooden or plastic kitchenware.
• If you have been cooking seafood, wipe the cooking plate with lemon juice to prevent the seafood flavour from transferring to the next recipe.
• Clean the cover and control knobs only with a soft and dry cloth. Dampen the cloth if there are dried-in spots.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents.
• Never leave plastic kitchenware in contact with the plates.
• Before storing the appliance, make sure that all its parts are clean and dry.
• Never wrap the cord around the outside of the grill.
• Never immerse plug in water or any other liquid.

SERVICE

Extensive maintenance or repair, which requires access to internal parts of the product, has to be performed by a qualified service centre.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

• Packaging materials and old appliances should be recycled.
• Packaging materials may be disposed of as sorted waste.
• Dispose the plastic bags made of polyethylene (PE) of as sorted waste.

Recycling of the appliance at the end of its lifespan

The manufacturer (or importer) is responsible for ensuring the product complies with the requirements of applicable legal regulations as well as those of the relevant technical standards. Moreover, they are responsible for ensuring the product has the properties the manufacturer described in documents related to the goods or those reasonably expected by the customer with regard to the nature of the goods or based on advertising produced by the manufacturer, and further they are responsible for ensuring the product is fit for the purpose proposed by the manufacturer or that a product of the same type is normally used for.

The quality warranty term is 24 months from product takeover by the customer.

The warranty does not apply to wear and tear caused by regular use. The customer shall not be entitled to any warranty claims if, prior to taking the product over, they knew the product contained a defect or if the defect is attributable to the customer.

The warranty specifically does not apply:

- if the product installation, operation and service conditions stipulated in the product operating manual have not been adhered to,

• to malfunctions caused due to mechanical, heat or chemical damage, short circuit, over voltage or incorrect installation,

• to malfunctions caused by an inexpert third-party intervention,

• to malfunctions caused by natural disaster,

- to malfunctions caused by insufficient or inappropriate maintenance in violation of the operating manual, including malfunctions caused by water and other sediments.

• to changes in colour of the heating surface or to scratching of the surface caused as a result of using the products in an unusual manner,

• to appearance and functional changes caused by exposure to sunlight, thermal radiation of water and other sediments,

- if the service life of certain product parts expires, e.g. for accumulators, bulbs, etc.

The warranty does not apply to any products and services provided along with the product (gifts, promotional articles, etc.).

Filing a complaint

A complaint against a product defect must be filed as soon as identified, yet no later than before the end of the warranty term.

The customer must file a product complaint with the dealer from which they have purchased the product, or with any authorised service centre, a list of which is included in the product package, or available at www.my-concept.com.

While filing a product complaint, the product must be duly cleaned and securely packed so as to prevent any damage during its transport to an authorised service centre, where relevant, unless the product is delivered in person.

The customer must submit proof of having concluded a purchase contract for the product by producing the receipt.

While filing their complaint, the customer must indicate the noted defect and identify the preferred complaint application method.

Complaints processing

As long as the noted defect may be removed, the user has the right to have the defect duly removed free of charge on a timely basis.

Where such a procedure is not reasonable with regard to the nature of the defect, the user may require to be supplied a new defect-free product (replacement), or, where the defect applies to a part of the product only, replacement of the part concerned. However, if replacement of the product or any part thereof is not proportionate with regard to the nature of the defect, especially if the defect can be removed without undue delay, the customer has the right to have the defect removed free of charge.

If the noted defect is not removable, or if the customer becomes entitled to replacement of the product or a part thereof, yet the replacement is not possible, for example due to the product having been sold out, the customer has the right to return the product (withdrawal from the contract).

The customer shall have the right to a new product (replacement) or to replacement of a part of the product even if the defect can be removed, provided they cannot properly use the product due to repeated occurrence of the defect or due to a high number of such defects. In such a case, the customer also has the right to return the product (by withdrawing from the contract).

If the product is not returned (the customer does not withdraw from the contract), or if the customer does not apply the right to a new defect-free product (replacement), to replacement of a part thereof or to repair of the product, they may request a reasonable discount. The customer also has a right to a reasonable discount if a new defect-free product cannot be supplied to them, or if a product part cannot be replaced or the product repaired unless the situation is remedied within a reasonable time limit, or if remedying the situation would create major discomfort on the part of the customer.

The seller, authorised service centre or a staff member authorised by them must decide about each complaint immediately or within three business days in complicated cases. This term does not include a reasonable period of time, depending on the type of product concerned,

required for the defect to be assessed by an expert. A complaint, including defect removal, must be dealt with without any undue delay, yet no later than within 30 calendar days of the complaint filing date, unless the seller and the customer agree on a later deadline.

On returning the product (withdrawing from the contract) the customer must return any accessories and documents supplied along with the product.

The customer does not have the right to keep the defective parts and components of the product replaced as part of a repair of the product.

This shall be without prejudice to any other rights the customer may have in relation to the purchase of the product.

Remark: Complaints against products damaged in transport are governed by the carrier's complaints procedure.
