How to clean the grill plate after use?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. The plate and pans can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand with a soft sponge and warm soapy water. The base can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Never use abrasive products or metal objects.

Can I put the plate in the dishwasher?

Yes, the plate and raclette pans are dishwasher safe. The base, however, must be cleaned by hand with a damp cloth.

How to use the raclette function?

Preheat the appliance until the heating element glows slightly. Fill a pan with pieces of cheese, meat or vegetables, then place it under the grill plate. Once the cheese is melted or the food is cooked, remove the pan using a wooden spatula.

Why does the appliance emit smoke and smell on first use?

This is normal: the non-stick coating may produce a slight smoke and characteristic smell during the first heating. Ensure good ventilation of the room. This phenomenon disappears after a few minutes.

Can I use the appliance outdoors?

Yes, but with caution. Do not use the appliance in damp rooms. Make sure it is placed on a stable, flat surface, protected from the weather. Never use it in the rain.

Does the appliance have an automatic shut-off?

No, this appliance does not have an automatic shut-off. You must turn it off manually using the on/off switch after use. Never leave it on unattended.

What to do in case of malfunction?

Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Unplug it and contact a qualified repairer or Bestron after-sales service.

Can children use this appliance?

This appliance can be used by children over 8 years old under adult supervision. Cleaning must not be done by children under 8 years old. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children under 8.

How many raclette pans are included?

One raclette pan is included with the grill plate. You can purchase additional ones if needed.

Can I use metal utensils on the plate?

No, do not use sharp or metal objects (knives, hard brushes) as they would damage the non-stick coating. Preferably use a wooden spatula.

Congratulations with the purchase of this Bestron product. These instructions tell you how the product works and how to use it. Read the instructions carefully before you start using the appliance. Only use the appliance in the manner described in the instructions. Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.

Defects:

If the appliance is defective, do not try to repair it yourself. Always have a qualified mechanic carry out any repairs.

Children:

• This appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 years old and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and know-how, but only if supervised or if they have been instructed on how to use the appliance safely and are aware of its potential dangers.
  • Children are not allowed to clean and maintain the appliance, except if they are over the age of 8 years old and supervised.
• Keep the appliance and the cable out of reach of children under the age of 8 years old.
• Keep an eye on children to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

• Check that the mains voltage corresponds with that shown on the rating plate of an electrical appliance before you use it.
• Check that the socket to which you connect the electrical appliance is earthed.
  • Always install electrical appliances on a stable and level surface where it cannot fall over.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS APPLIANCE

• Be careful when using the appliance outdoors.
• Never use the appliance in damp or wet locations.
• Thoroughly clean the appliance after use (see Cleaning and Maintenance).
• Never move the appliance when it is switched on or is still hot. Switch off the appliance before moving it.
  • Always pick up the appliance by the handles. All metal parts can be very hot.
  • Always use implements with a suitable insulating handle when grilling food on the grill plate.
• Do not use sharp or metal implements on the grill plate or pans. These will damage the non-stick coating.

ENVIRONMENT

- Dispose of packaging material such as plastic and cardboard boxes in the designated containers.

Do not dispose of this product as normal domestic waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at a collection point for the reuse of electric and electronic equipment. Look for the symbol on the product, the user instructions or the packaging showing the type of waste.

- The materials can be used as indicated. By helping us reuse and process the materials or otherwise recycle the old equipment, you will be making an important contribution towards the protection of the environment.

- Your municipality can tell you where to find the designated waste collection point in your neighbourhood.

OPERATION - General

The appliance is intended only for domestic use, not for professional use.

OPERATION - Before first use

1. Remove the appliance from the packaging, and remove all packaging materials.
2. Clean the baking plate before using the appliance for the first time (see 'Cleaning and maintenance').

WARNING:

• The appliance may emit a little smoke and a characteristic smell when you switch it on for the first time. This is normal and will stop on its own. Make sure the appliance has sufficient ventilation.
• Keep house birds away from the appliance when it is in use. Fumes released from the non-stick coating are harmful to birds.

OPERATION - Preheating

1. Put the appliance on a level and heat-resistant surface.
2. Put the plug into the wall socket.
3. Switch on the appliance by pressing the On/Off switch.
4. Wait until the heating element becomes cherry-red. The appliance is now ready for use.

OPERATION - Baking

1. Allow the appliance to preheat (see Preheating).
2. Grease the baking plate with a little oil.
3. Place the food you wish to grill on the baking plate.
4. Grill the food until it is done. Turn the food over occasionally whilst it is being grilled to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked.
5. Remove the food from the baking plate and place on a plate.

OPERATION - Recletting/grilling

1. Allow the appliance to preheat (see Preheating).
2. Fill a tray with, for example, pieces of cheese, meat, fish or vegetables.
3. Put the filled tray on the bottom plate under the baking plate.
4. Remove the tray from the appliance once the food is done, or the cheese has melted.

WARNING:

- Leave the baking plate on the base when racletting and grilling food.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Clean the baking plate, trays and the base after each use.

1. Remove the plug from the wall socket, and allow the appliance to cool down completely.
2. Clean the base with a damp cloth, if necessary moistened with a couple of drops of washing-up liquid.
3. The baking plate and the trays can be cleaned in hot water with washing-up liquid; use a soft cloth or a plastic washing-up brush. The baking plate and trays may also be cleaned in a dishwasher.
4. Dry the base, baking plate and the trays thoroughly.

WARNING:

• Verify that the appliance is not connected to the power supply before you clean it.
  • Clean the raclette grill after each use.
• Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the appliance.
