Frequently Asked Questions - RE700X TP-LINK

How to set up the TP-Link RE700X range extender?
Three methods: through the Tether app (iOS/Android), via a web browser at http://tplinkrepeater.net, or via the WPS button. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the extender to your router.
How to reset the extender to factory defaults?
While the extender is powered on, use a pin to press the Reset button for 1 second. You can also do it from the web interface: Menu Settings > System Tools > Backup & Restore then click Factory Restore.
What if I forgot the web interface login password?
Reset the extender (see previous question), then log in to http://tplinkrepeater.net to create a new password. Make sure to note this password for future logins.
What if I cannot access the web management page?
Make sure you are connected to the extender's network (default SSID: TP-Link_Extender). Check that your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically. Enter http://tplinkrepeater.net correctly or use the IP 192.168.0.254. If the problem persists, reset the extender.
How to use the extender as an access point?
Log into the web interface, click Mode at the top right, select Access Point and save. Then, connect an Ethernet cable from the extender to your router or wired modem, and configure the wireless settings via Quick Setup.
What is OneMesh network and how to enable it?
OneMesh is a TP-Link feature that creates a unified WiFi network with your OneMesh router. The extender automatically copies the router's wireless settings for seamless roaming. To enable it: connect the extender to a OneMesh router; it will automatically join the OneMesh network. You can manage this feature in Settings > OneMesh.
How to adjust the WiFi coverage of the extender?
Log into the web interface, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Wi-Fi Coverage and select the desired coverage level (e.g., High, Medium, Low). This optimizes the range according to your needs.
How to update the extender's firmware?
From the web interface, go to Settings > System Tools > Firmware Upgrade. Two options: Online Upgrade (automatic update via Internet) or Local Upgrade (if you downloaded the file from TP-Link's website). Do not turn off the extender during the update.
How to configure Access Control (blacklist/whitelist)?
Log into the web interface, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Access Control. Enable control, choose Blacklist or Whitelist. Add devices by their MAC address. You can set an effective period for each entry.
Can the extender be used with a non-TP-Link router?
Yes, the TP-Link RE700X extender works with any standard WiFi router. OneMesh features are only available with a TP-Link OneMesh router. For other features (extender, WPS, etc.), compatibility is guaranteed.
