Yes, it is necessary to update the TV software via the supplied USB key. Plug it into the TV, the update starts automatically, then the TV restarts.

The kit supports files with extensions .mp4, .mkv, and .ts encoded in H.264/AVC or H.265/HEVC with a maximum bitrate of 50 Mbit/s for H.264 and 25 Mbit/s for H.265.

Can I use any USB drive to transfer content?

Yes, you can use a standard USB drive. Plug it into the TV, then select the content via the SmartShare™ application.

Does the kit support subtitles?

Internal subtitles are not supported for ULTRA HD content. Use external subtitles if needed.

This ULTRA HD Upgrade Kit allows the playback of ULTRA HD Video content on LG ULTRA HD TV'S.

INSTALLATION

This section on INSTALLATION mainly uses diagrams for the 65LA9700 model.

Updating TV software

1 Connect the supplied USB to TV. The software update is started automatically.
2 When the update is completed, TV is restarted.

Setting up the upgrade kit

1 Attach the velcro tape on back of TV as shown below.

2 Connect the "①" cable to the jack as shown below.

3 Attach the upgrader on the TV (by using velcro sticker).

4 Connect the "②" cable end connector to HDMI input jack on TV.
5 Connect the "③" cable end connector to USB input jack on TV.

Playing contents

1 Connect the USB (flash) device to TV to supply content. The [Linked device] appears in SmartShare List and when Pop Up appears press [YES].
2 When [ULTRA HD Upgrade Kit has been connected] Pop Up appears Select content/file and it will commence to play.
