Frequently Asked Questions - Pompeji Blumfeldt

How to assemble the Blumfeldt Pompeji brazier?
Assembly is simple: attach the brazier (A) to the base (B) using the provided 4 screws (F). Then place the charcoal grate (C) inside the brazier, then the cooking grill (D) on top. You can also add the bamboo table (E) if you wish to use the device as a table.
Can I use this brazier indoors?
No, this brazier is intended for outdoor use only. It produces toxic fumes that can cause suffocation in enclosed spaces. Never use it inside a building, garage, or any other closed area.
What type of fuel to use?
You can use dry firewood or charcoal. For lighting, use paper or kindling, and optionally lighting aids compliant with standard EN 1860-3. Never use gasoline, alcohol, or lighter fluid.
How to safely light the fire?
Place the brazier on a firm, level, smooth, heat-resistant surface, away from any flammable objects. Put paper or dry firewood in the center, then light it. Start a small fire and gradually increase it to avoid damaging the structure. Never place fuel directly into the fire pit without support.
How long does it take for the embers to be ready for grilling?
Wait until the fuel is covered with a layer of ash before starting to cook. This usually takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the type of charcoal and conditions. Only start grilling when the charcoal is well glowing.
Can I extinguish the fire with water?
No, never extinguish the fire with water as it could damage the brazier and cause ember projections. Prefer smothering the fire with sand or simply stop adding fuel to let it go out naturally.
How to clean the brazier after use?
Wait until the brazier is completely cooled. Remove the ashes leaving a thin layer to protect the bottom. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For stubborn stains, use a citrus-based cleaner and a brush. Do not use oven cleaners or abrasives.
Can the brazier be used as a table?
Yes, the brazier comes with a bamboo table (E) that can be placed on top to transform the device into a table. Make sure the fire is completely extinguished and the brazier is cold before placing the table.
What precautions to take with children?
Children and pets must keep a safe distance during use. The brazier becomes very hot and can cause burns. Never leave the device unattended while lit.
What to do if a part is damaged?
Regularly inspect all parts to ensure they are not damaged and screws are tight. If you notice damage, have the brazier repaired before continuing to use it. Never use a damaged device.
