Setting Up the Printer
2. Turning on the Printer

Simple, easy-to-follow instructions are displayed on your computer or smartphone.
Follow the instructions to complete setup and print.
Open the scanning unit / cover. Caution Do not touch the ink cartridge holder until it stops moving.
Pinch and open the ink cartridge locking cover on the left-hand side.
Remove the Color ink cartridge from the package and remove the orange tape. Important
- Do not touch the ink on the orange tape. It could stain your hands or surrounding objects.
- Do not touch the areas shown in the figure. Otherwise, the printer may not print correctly.
Push down the ink cartridge locking cover firmly until it snaps into place to close it completely.
Repeat steps 2 to 5 and install the Black ink cartridge on the right-hand side.44
Close the scanning unit / cover. If you lift the scanning unit / cover slightly and release it, it will close by itself.
Remove the cassette from the printer.
Slide apart the paper guides. Slide the right paper guide to the right edge. Align the front paper guide with the Letter or A4 mark.
Load Letter or A4 sized plain paper. Place the paper against the front paper guide, and align the right paper guide to the width of the paper.
Pull out the paper output tray.5
Select Enable (recom'ded), and then press the OK button.
Check that the following screen appears. Select the connection method that best matches how you will use the printer.
To use the printer without connecting to any other devices Setup is now complete.
To use the printer connecting to a computer or smartphone Proceed to the next page.6
6. Connecting to a Computer or Smartphone
If you are using multiple computers/smartphones, perform these steps on each device. Also perform these steps to add a new computer/smartphone or replace your current one.
Access the Canon website directly. No need to search. https://ij.start.canon/cc
Follow the on-screen instructions. Note Refer to the Online Manual if you cannot connect the printer to your computer or smartphone (network trouble). Using the Setup CD-ROM
1. Double click EasySetup.exe on the screen that appears.
2. If the printer selection screen appears, select TS6540i.
If the installation screen appears, click Next.
