USER MANUAL HC 3392 CLATRONIC

General Notes Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

• The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not t for com- mercial use.

• Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.

• When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.

• Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.

• The device and the mains lead have to be checked regu- larly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.

• Use only original spare parts.

• In order to ensure your children’s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach. WARNING! Do not allow small children to play with the foil. There is a danger of suffocation! Special safety instructions for this device Symbols on the Product On the products you will nd symbols that indicate warnings or provide information: WARNING OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Do not use this device near baths, wash basins or other ves- sels containing water.

• If the appliance is used in the bathroom, disconnect it from the mains after use as nearby water presents a hazard. This also ap- plies if the appliance is switched off.28

• As additional protection we recommend the installation of a fault current protection device (FI/RCD) with a rated current of not more than 30 mA in the wiring system of the bathroom. Please contact an authorised electrician for advice.

• Risk of burns! The appliance gets hot during operation! Only hold the handle and avoid contact with the skin.

• Always set the device with the stand on a heat-resistant, stable and level surface.

• Ensure that the mains cable does not get in contact with the hot part of the appliance.

• Keep the turned-on appliance far from easily inammable objects or materials.

• Always pull the mains plug after use.

• Let the device cool before cleaning and before putting it away!

• Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our cus- tomer service or by qualied person and with a cable of the same type.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capa- bilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Children must not play with the appliance.

• Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by chil- dren, unless they are supervised.29 CAUTION: This device is not intended to be immersed in water during cleaning.

• Please observe the instructions that we have included for you in the chapter “Cleaning”. Commissioning

• Remove all packaging materials.

• Before inserting the plug into the socket. Make sure that the mains voltage to be used matches that of the device. You can nd this information on the nameplate.

• Connect the appliance to a properly installed earthed socket.

• Slide the switch on the handle to the position “I” to turn on the appliance. The control lamp lights. The appliance will be operational after a few minutes. NOTE: When the appliance has heated up, it may result in a slight development of odors. This odor is caused by the coating of the heating rod and will disappear with time. Ensure sufcient ventilation. Use

• Only use the appliance for dry hair.

• Do not touch the scalp with the hot curling tongs. CAUTION:

• Only use the appliance with natural hair. It is not suitable for articial hair pieces or wigs due to its high tempera- ture.

• Never use the appliance in combination with styling prod- ucts such as mousse, hairspray, or gel. TIPS:

• We recommend that you spray heat protection spray onto your dry hair prior to the application.

• You will achieve tightly rolled curls with thin strands of hair (ca. 2 cm). Take thicker strands (4 to 6 cm) for loose waves. TIPS:

• When you are done shaping your curls, let the hair cool off completely before continuing with the styling.

• For intensive curls, do not brush your hair afterwards. Get it into shape with your ngers.

• For a wavy, voluminous look, gently brush your curls with a brush.

Switch-off After use, slide the switch to position “0” and disconnect from the mains. Storage Leave the device to cool before putting it away! To do so, place the appliance with the stand onto a heat- resistant, stable and level surface. Mains Cable

• Do not wrap the mains cable around the appliance. This may result in the cable breaking.

• Before cleaning remove the mains lead from the socked.30

• Under no circumstances should you immerse the device in water for cleaning purposes. Otherwise this might result in an electric shock or re.

• Let the appliance cool completely before you clean it! Risk of burns! CAUTION:

• Clean the housing with a soft, dry cloth without additivesl.

• You may clean the heating rod with a slightly moist towel as needed.
