Only use rechargeable batteries of the right size and of the recommended type (see section on "Technical data").

Rechargeable batteries should not be disposed of with domestic waste. Please dispose of used rechargeable batteries in an environmentally friendly way.
Always switch off the product before removing or inserting the rechargeable battery 9.
Functioning
The integrated solar cell 4 of the article converts solar radiation into electrical energy and stores it in the NiMH rechargeable battery 9. The light switches itself on when it starts to get dark. The integrated LED 2 is an energy-saving illuminant with a very long life. The burn time depends on the solar radiation, the angle of incidence of the light falling onto the solar cell 4 and the temperature (due to the temperature dependence of the capacity of the rechargeable batteries). The ideal situation is a vertical angle. Given the best conditions, a burn time of 6-8 hours can be achieved. The rechargeable battery 9 will only achieve its maximum capacity after several charging and discharging cycles.

Starting up
- Assembling and setting up the light (Fig. A)
Install the light in accordance with Fig. A.
Place the light with the assembled rods into the ground (lawn, flower bed, etc).
Note: Ensure that the product stands firmly in place. Do not use any force when assembling or setting up the product, e.g. hammer blows. This damages the product.
Note: For the best results, put the light in a place where the solar cell 4 is exposed to direct sunlight for as long as possible. Do not put the light under bushes, trees, canopies etc. as this reduces the incidence of incoming sunlight. Position the lamp in such a way that the solar cell 4 is not covered or in the shade.
Note: Make sure that the solar is not near another source of light such as street or garden lighting as the light will otherwise not switch itself on automatically when it starts to get dark.
Switch the AUTO/OFF switch on the bottom of the solar casing 5 into the AUTO or OFF position to switch the lamp on or off.
Note: The LED light b will automatically switch between the colours red, blue and green.
Note: Switch the lamp off (OFF position) if the lamp will be in the dark for any length of time (e.g. when transporting it with a rechargeable battery inserted) or the burn time is not satisfactory due to a very short incidence of light.
Open the solar casing into a horizontal position.
Switch the AUTO/OFF switch on the bottom of the solar casing into the AUTO position to recharge the rechargeable
battery 9.
- Changing the rechargeable battery
Note: You will need a crosshead screwdriver for this step.
First push the AUTO/OFF switch to the OFF position.
Take the decorative attachment off the rod with the LED light bulb 3
Pull the rod with the LED light bulb off the middle rod 6
Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the solar casing 5. To do so, unscrew both screws using a crosshead screwdriver
Remove the used rechargeable battery.
Insert a new rechargeable battery (NiMH, AA, 1.2V/600 mAh) into the battery compartment [10].
Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated in the battery compartment 10.
Close the battery compartment. To do so, screw in both screws using a crosshead screwdriver
When you close the case make sure that the cables are not pinched.
Place the rod with the LED light bul onto the middle rod 6 again.
Place the decorative attachment back onto the LED light bulb 2.

- Trouble-shooting

Cause
O = Solution
The light does not come on when it is dark, even though it was exposed to sunlight all day.
Artificial sources of light such as street lighting or similar are making the Photosensor believe it is still daylight.
Place the lamp somewhere where it is shielded from artificial sources of light.
The lamp only comes on for a short time or not at all.
The rechargeable battery 9 is flat or there is not enough daylight to recharge the rechargeable battery 9.
Replace the rechargeable battery or place the lamp in a sunnier position.
