USER MANUAL F 1200 Rommelsbacher

  • Always keep children under 8 away from the product and the power cord.
  • Children from the age of 8 must be supervised when cleaning or maintaining the appliance.
  • Children from the age of 8 and persons not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.
  • Do not operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
  • Prior to each use, check the appliance and the accessory parts for perfect condition. The appliance must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by an expert electrician.
  • When laying the power cord, make sure that no one can get entangled or stumble over it in order to avoid that the appliance is pulled down accidentally.
  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces, sharp edges and mechanical forces. Check the power cord regularly for damage and deteriorations. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.

  • Observe the min/max mark when fi lling the fondue pot. Never exceed the maximum fi lling quantity!
  • Only use the fondue pot which is included in the scope of supply. Other cooking vessels must not be used!
  • Do not operate the fondue pot with other sources of heat!
  • Heating plate and fondue pot must be clean and dry before use!
  • Do not use the appliance’s upper side as depositing rack or working top as it will get hot when operating the appliance! As protection against fi re, do generally not put any objects made of paper, plastic, fabric or other infl ammable material on hot surfaces!

Intended use The appliance designed to be used in the household and similar areas, like for example: - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other small commercial areas - agricultural holdings - guests in hotels, motels, B&Bs and further similar living environments. Other uses or modifi cations of the appliance are not intended and may constitute considerable risks of accident. For damage arising from any improper use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is designed for warming, heating and preparing food. The appliance is not suitable for commercial use. Technical data Only connect the appliance to an isolated ground receptacle installed according to regulations. The mains voltage must comply with the details on the rating label. Only connect to alternating current! Packing material Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Also put plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins. In the examples for the plastic marking: PE stands for polyethylene, the code fi gure 02 for PE-HD, 04 for PE-LD, PP for polypropylene, PS for polystyrene. Introduction unobstructed work area. For environmental reasons, dispose them in a suitable container with your domestic waste. You can also ask your local authorities for special disposal options.
  • Please remove any protective films, advertising materials and packaging material from the appliance and from the accessory parts. Clean the appliance and all removable accessory parts according to the cleaning instructions in this manual.
  • Then heat up the heating plate without pot at maximum setting for approx. 5 minutes. Note: Please do not be bothered by the slight, harmless smoke and smell that will be generated for a short while. Make sure that the room is well-aerated during this time.
  • After the appliance has cooled down, please clean the heating plate and the inside of the base unit with a moist cloth. Let it dry thoroghly. This appliances is suitable for preparing all common variants of fondue. Depending on the contents in the pot, the indicated temperatures may vary.
  • For a fast heating up, you can start the appliance in the high temperature range and then switch back to the necessary temperature on time.
  • By a clever switching between the 3 temperature ranges, you can decide yourself for the necessary temperature for your preparation. Chocolate fondue – perfect for those who love it sweet. Pieces of fruits from banana to grapes are covered with melted chocolate. For the function “Chocolate”, a temperature of approx. 45 °C is preset. The temperature may be modified individually with the touch keys “+” resp. “-”. Cheese fondue – the classical variation. Small pieces of white bread or baguette are dipped into the melted cheese. For the function “Cheese”, a temperature of approx. 90 °C is preset. The temperature may be modified individually with the touch keys “+” resp. “-”. Programmes/temperature ranges approx. 35 °C approx. 40 °C approx. 45 °C approx. 50 °C approx. 55 °C approx. 70 °C approx. 80 °C approx. 90 °C approx. 100 °C approx. 110 °C21 approx. 150 °C approx. 160 °C approx. 170 °C approx. 180 °C approx. 190 °C Bouillon fondue – besides beef, pork or chicken, also vegetables like caulifl ower, broccoli, pepper, zucchini or mushrooms are suitable to be cooked in bouillon. Fat/oil fondue – particularly suitable for cooking in fat is beef, pork or chicken. For the function “Fondue”, a temperature of approx. 170 °C is preset. The temperature may be modifi ed individually with the touch keys “+” resp. “-”. Starting up the appliance CAUTION: Hazard of injury and burns!

  • Take care when handling hot fat and oil! Depending on the quantity and texture of the food to be heated as well as on the set temperature, the appliance requires 15-30 minutes for heating-up. Therefore we recommend to start the preparations in good time prior to serving the fondue. Residual heat indication The appliance is equipped with a residual heat indication. It shows whether the heating plate may be eventually still hot.
  • If the temperature on the cooking zone has reached a value of more than 60 °C due to the waste heat emitted by the pot, the pilot lamp in the middle of the tempeature scale lights up continuously.
  • If the temperatures falls below 60 °C, the pilot lamp extinguishes. NOTE: If the appliance is cut off the power supply, the pilot lamp extinguishes in any case. Operating time limitation
  • The operating time limitation will cause the unit to switch automatically in the “Standby” mode if the settings have not been changed for a period of 3 hours. This happens independently of the respectively set function.
  • After an automatic switch-off, the unit can be switched on once again and the maximum operating time will be active again. Connecting the appliance to the power supply
  • Plug the mains plug to a suffi ciently secured socket in order to connect the appliance with the power supply. When laying the power cord, make sure that no one can get entangled or stumble over it in order to avoid that the appliance is pulled down accidentally.22 Filling the fondue pot
  • First, take the fondue pot from the base unit.
  • Fill the fondue pot with the required amount of ingredients according to your recipe. CAUTION: When filling, observe the MIN and MAX marks inside of the pot. The marks mustn´t be deceeded resp. exceeded (except chocolate: at least 200 g).
  • Place the anti-splash insert onto the fondue pot. TIP: Cover with a suitable lid in order to reach the requested temperatur quicker and to save energy.
  • Insert the filled fondue pot carefully into the base unit. Switching on the appliance and heating up the contents of the pot For switching-on, activate the touch key “ON/STANDBY“. Activating the touch key is confirmed by a signal tone. The pilot lamps of the 3 touch keys for the programme selection are flashing. NOTE: If no further setting is made within the next 60 seconds, the appliance will switch off automatically.

  • You can start the fondue dinner once the temperature is reached.
  • Take off carefully the lid eventually placed. NOTE: Please note that hot steam may escape when removing the lid.

WARNING: Take care that no condensation water is dropping into the hot fat/oil!

  • Skewer the food on the fondue forks and place it carefully in the pot. NOTE: Please note that the forks are very sharp-ended at the front.
  • Make sure that the food to be cooked has drained well before being cooked in a fondue with fat/oil. Dap very humid food with kitchen paper if necessary. Frozen products must be completely thawed.
  • Do not use this appliance as a fryer and do not use it to prepare fries or donuts.23 Increasing/reducing the temperature during operation
  • Depending on the ingredients quantity, the temperature can be reduced or increased. NOTE: When your fondue session is drawing to a close and the liquid, cheese or chocolate has become considerably less, it is mostly necessary to re-adjust the temperature control to a lower setting.
  • By actuating the touch key “+”, the temperature can be increased.
  • By actuating the touch key “-”, the temperature can be reduced.
  • If no further setting is made, the appliance starts operation automatically after 5 seconds. On the temperature scale, the pilot lamps light up continuously according to the selected temperature level. Switching the programme/temperature range during operation
  • Depending on the quantity of ingredients, it may happen that the temperature range of the selected programme is not sufficient to keep the contents of the fondue pot at the preferred temperature.
  • Then we recommend to change the programme resp. temperature range in order to achieve the desired results.
  • By a clever switching between the 3 temperature ranges, you can decide yourself about the necessary temperature for your preparation. Example: You have selected the programme “Fondue” with temperature level “1”, the content is cooking highly instead of only simmering. Switch to programme “Cheese” and select the temperature level “4” or “5” and continue. Switching the appliance OFF
  • For switching off, activate the touch key “On/Standby”. Activating the touch key is confirmed by a signal tone.
  • The appliance is in standby mode now. Emptying the fondue pot
  • Allow the fondue pot and the remaining contents to cool down before emptying it.
  • Use pot cloths to remove the fondue pot from the base unit.
  • Empty the pot carefully. Note: Fats and oils can be used several times. Fill the fats/oils into a suitable container and store them in a suitable place for the next use. Switching the appliance off completely For a safe switch-off, pull the power plug after each use!24 Cleaning and maintenance CAUTION: Hazard of injury and burns!

  • Do not immerse appliance, power cord and power plug in water nor clean it under running water!
  • Please clean fondue pot, anti-splash insert and fondue forks in warm water with some dishwashing detergent and wipe dry. From time to time you can clean all removable parts in the dishwasher.
  • NOTE: Discoloration of the bottom or the rim of the pot is a normal reaction of stainless steel to high temperatures. This is not a reason for complaint!
  • Use a moist cloth to clean the base unit and also the heating plate and wipe them dry afterwards. Make sure that no steam or water can get into the base unit from below!
  • Do not use oven cleaners!
  • Do not treat the appliance or accessory parts with a steam cleaner! Error description
  • The temperature of the selected function is not suffi cient to heat up the liquid or keep at a boiling constantly, although the highest temperature setting has already been set. Self-help: Choose the next higher temperature range.

  • Check the temperature of fat/oil by immersing a wooden skewer. When bubbles start to form around it, the temperature required for fondue has been reached.
  • Stir delicate foods like cheese or chocolate again and again so they will not burn to the pot bottom.
  • To boil up water or bouillon we recommend using a fitting lid on the pot in order to save energy.
  • Take care that the used food is not too humid, as this may cause the oil to foam and overflow.
  • The individual ingredients of the fondue should be cut into pieces of the same size to ensure that the food cooks evenly and thoroughly.
  • Also try out the preparation of coated food or food in batter.
  • Do not overfill the pot.
  • Do not mix oils and fats.
  • Dispose of old resp. often used fat/oil completely and correctly. Do not mix old fat/oil with new ones! Recipes You will find a variety of recipes for various types of fondue in bookshops and on the internet. Here are a few recipe ideas to try out: Fondue with mixed meat *with alcohol*
  • 200 g each of beef fillet, pork fillet, veal, chicken breast or veal liver

Cheese Fondue *with alcohol*
  • 250 g each of Emmentaler and Gruyère cheese, coarsely grated
  • Pepper from the mill, nutmeg
  • 200 ml of dry white wine
  • 2 small glasses of kirsch
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch Cut the clove of garlic into halfs and rub the fondue pan with it. Pour in the wine and let boil (highest level in the "Fondue" programme). Add the cheese with a wooden spoon with a hole, stir in the shape of an eight so that there will be no clumps. If the wine is not acidic enough, add a little lemon juice so that the cheese dissolves better. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch and stir into the cheese until the fondue is smooth and bound. Now it must continue to cook (programme “Cheese”), the guests keep stirring with a piece of bread on the fork until they start eating. Every guest dips his bread cubes into the cheese cream. Finally loosen the crust in the middle of the pot with the fondue fork.26 Fish Fondue *with alcohol*
  • 600 g solid sea fish without bones
  • 4 large peeled scampi and 4 peeled shrimps
  • 1 onion loaded with clove and bay leaf
  • 400 ml vegetable stock
  • 400 ml of dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp. aniseed schnapps or cognac
  • 2 tbsp. cream Cut the fish meat into cubes and arrange it with the seafood. Prepare the broth and bring the onion loaded with clove and bay leaf to a boil. Add the other spices, cover and let steep for 30 minutes. Add the wine to the brew and take out the spices. Guests skewer fish or seafood, or use a broth basket and cook them in the broth. Finally, refine the fish stock with aniseed schnapps or cognac and cream and serve it in soup cups. Chocolate Fondue
  • 200 g white and blue grapes
  • 300 g Toblerone (chocolate with honey, almonds, rum)
