Depending on the quantity and texture of the food to be heated as well as on the set temperature, the appliance requires 15-30 minutes for heating-up. Therefore we recommend to start the preparations in good time prior to serving the fondue.

Residual heat indication

The appliance is equipped with a residual heat indication. It shows whether the heating plate may be eventually still hot.

  • If the temperature on the cooking zone has reached a value of more than 60 °C due to the waste heat emitted by the pot, the pilot lamp in the middle of the tempeature scale lights up continuously.
  • If the temperatures falls below 60 °C, the pilot lamp extinguishes.

Rommelsbacher F 1200 - Residual heat indication - 1

NOTE: If the appliance is cut off the power supply, the pilot lamp extinguishes in any case.

Operating time limitation

  • Stir delicate foods like cheese or chocolate again and again so they will not burn to the pot bottom.
  • To boil up water or bouillon we recommend using a fitting lid on the pot in order to save energy.
    • Take care that the used food is not too humid, as this may cause the oil to foam and overflow.
  • The individual ingredients of the fondue should be cut into pieces of the same size to ensure that the food cooks evenly and thoroughly.
  • Also try out the preparation of coated food or food in batter.
  • Do not overfill the pot.
  • Do not mix oils and fats.
  • Dispose of old resp. often used fat/oil completely and correctly. Do not mix old fat/oil with new ones!

Recipes

You will find a variety of recipes for various types of fondue in bookshops and on the internet. Here are a few recipe ideas to try out:

Fondue with mixed meat \*with alcohol\*

- 200 g each of beef fillet, pork fillet, veal, chicken breast or veal liver

- 60 g of fat bacon

• 1 bunch of spring onions
- 1 / 2 head of lettuce
- 1 / 2 bunch of parsley
- 800 ml of chicken broth

  • 2 tbsp. of soy sauce
    • 3 tbsp. of Sherry

Wrap the meat separately in foil and let it freeze in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Wash and dry the spring onions, the lettuce and the parsley, lightly chop the lettuce. Cut the meat - preferably with a bread machine or an electric knife - into wafer-thin slices. Arrange it with the prepared vegetables. Bring the chicken broth in the fondue pot to a boil. Cut the bacon into fine cubes and cook it in the fondue pot. Season the broth with soy sauce and sherry. The broth must cook slightly while you cook the meat and vegetables in it.

Cut the clove of garlic into halfs and rub the fondue pan with it.

Pour in the wine and let boil (highest level in the "Fondue" programme). Add the cheese with a wooden spoon with a hole, stir in the shape of an eight so that there will be no clumps. If the wine is not acidic enough, add a little lemon juice so that the cheese dissolves better. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch and stir into the cheese until the fondue is smooth and bound. Now it must continue to cook (programme "Cheese"), the guests keep stirring with a piece of bread on the fork until they start eating. Every guest dips his bread cubes into the cheese cream. Finally loosen the crust in the middle of the pot with the fondue fork.

Add the wine to the brew and take out the spices. Guests skewer fish or seafood, or use a broth basket and cook them in the broth. Finally, refine the fish stock with aniseed schnapps or cognac and cream and serve it in soup cups.
