Instruction manual We are pleased you decided in favour of this comfortable table top grill and would like to thank you for your confi dence. Its easy and safe operation will certainly fi ll you with enthusiasm as well. To make sure youcanenjoyusingthisapplianceforalongtime,pleasereadthroughthefollowingnotescarefully and observe them. Keep this instruction manual safely. Hand out all documents to third persons when passing on the appliance. Thank you very much. Intended use This grill is designed for contact grilling and grilling of food with short or medium cooking time and for gratinating and toasting(domestic use only). Other uses or modifi cations of the appliance are not intended and harbour considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use. Technical data Only connect the appliance to an isolated ground receptacle installed according to regulations. The rated voltage must comply with the details on the rating label. Only connect to alternating current. Nominal voltage: 230 V~ 50 Hz Nominal power: KG 1600: 1600 W - KG 1800: 1800 W - KG 2000: 2000 W Packing material Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Put also plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins. IntheexamplesfortheplasticmarkingPEstandsforpolyethylene, the code fi gure 02 for PE-HD, 04 for PE-LD, PP for polypropylene, PS for polystyrene.
Cleaning and maintenance Prior to cleaning always pull the mains plug! Never immerse appliance, mains plug and power cord in water! Hazard of burns! Before cleaning, let all parts cool down!
- Wipecasingandpowercordwithadampcloth.Finallywipedrythoroughly.
- Detach the grill plates before cleaning. Remove coarse soiling by means of a scraper made of wood or plastic. Afterwards, use a soft brush and some water with dishwashing detergent for cleaning. Rinse with clear water and dry thoroughly.
- Soak stubborn residues on the grill plate with warm water with dishwashing detergent.
- Always wipe dry thoroughly after cleaning.
- Cleaning the base casing and the power cord:
- Do not use a scouring agent or dissolvent!
- Do not use oven sprays for cleaning!
- Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning the appliance or the grill plates!

During operation, the appliance’s surfaces are getting hot and fi rstly stay hot even after switching the appliance off. Keep this in mind when touching the appliance. Mind hot fat splatters and rising vapour during use. NOTE: For protection, we recommend using grill gloves and cutlery made of wood or plastic!
- Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.
- Alwayskeepchildrenunder8awayfromtheproductandthepowercord.
- Childrenfromtheageof8mustbesupervisedwhencleaningor maintaining the appliance.
- Childrenfromtheageof8andpersonsnothavingtheknowledgeor experienceinoperatingtheapplianceorhavinghandicapsofphysical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
- Childrenshouldbesupervisedinordertoensurethattheydonotplaywith the appliance.
- Donotatalloperatethisunitwithanexternaltimeroraseparate telecontrol system.
- Priortoeachuse,checktheapplianceandtheaccessoriesforsoundness, it must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by a specialist.
- Donotoperatetheapplianceinthevicinityofsourcesofheat(ovens,gas amesetc.)orinexplosiveenvironmentswhereinammableliquidsor gases are located. Ensure an unhindered circulation of air.
- Placetheapplianceonastableandevensurface.Keepadistanceofatleast 10 cm to all sides and 1 m above the appliance in order to avoid damage through heat or fat splatters and to grant an unobstructed work area.
- Onlyoperatetheunitwithgrillplateslockedinplaceproperly.12
- Whenlayingthepowercord,makesurethatnobodycangetentangled or stumble over it so that accidentally pulling the appliance down can be avoided.
- Keepthepowercordawayfromhotsurfaces,sharpedgesandmechanical forces. Check the power cord regularly for damage and deteriorations. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.
- Donotplaceinammableobjectsliketissues,grillcutleryetc.onthehot grilling surface.
- Theappliancemustbecompletelycooledbeforeremovinggrillplatesor before cleaning or moving the appliance.
- Fordisconnectingtheappliancefromthemains,onlypulltheplug,never the cord!
- Donotstorethegrilloutsideorindampchambers.
- Neverimmersetheappliance,powercordorpluginwaterforcleaning.
- Onlyoperateapplianceandaccessoriesindrycondition–especiallythe grill plates and the electric connections must be absolutely dry.
- Thiselectricalappliancecomplieswiththerelevantsafetystandards.In case of signs of damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may be done by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
- Improperuseandnon-observanceoftheinstructionmanualwillvoid warranty.13 Grill positions This grill is perfect for contact grilling, fl at surface grilling, gratinating and toasting. It features the optimum grill positi- on for each way of preparation. Pos. A - Contact grilling Pos. B - Gratinating Basic position for contact grilling of meat/steak, sausages etc. NOTE: In this position best grilling results can be achieved. Lock position for toasting and gratinating. Pos. C - Large at surface grill Opened up providing a double grilling surface. A table top grill for use in house and garden. ATTENTION: Never use the unit with cover opened in 90° position when the upper grill plate is hot! Danger of overheating and damage of the plastic handles!14 Prior to operation
- Seetoitthatthegrillplatessitproperly. Non-stick coating The grill plates have a superior, easy to clean non-stick coating. Observe the following notes to avoid any damage:
- Donotuseabrasives,ovenspraysorhardcleaningaidsforcleaningthegrillplate. Operating elements KG 1600 / KG 1800 Both grill plates are regulated together. KG 2000 Twin Set Both grill plates are regulated separately, with 2 regulators and 2 pilot lamps. (1) Temperature regulator, stepless (2) Temperature pilot lamp Cycling on and off during operation, the pilot lamp indicates the thermostatic regulation. A lamp not glowing does not mean that the appliance is switched off!15 Grilling
- Makesurethegrillplatesareattachedrmlyandproperly.
- Withthetemperatureregulator(s),thetemperaturecanbeincreasedorreducedatanytime.
- Lettheappliancecooldownandcleanit(seepoint“Cleaningandmaintenance”).
