Frequently Asked Questions - Caroline Klarstein

How do I set the power and cooking time?
Turn the POWER knob to the desired level (Low, Med. Low, Med., Med. High, High). Turn the TIMER knob to the desired time (up to 60 minutes). The appliance starts automatically. After the time is up, a beep sounds. Always reset the timer to '0' after use.
What utensils can I use in my Klarstein Caroline microwave?
Only use microwave-safe utensils: heat-resistant glass, ceramic, suitable plastic, parchment paper, cling film, and wax paper. Avoid metal, aluminum, sealed containers, wood, styrofoam, and paper bags. To test a container, place it with a cup of water (250 ml) in the microwave at maximum power for one minute: if it becomes hot, it is not suitable.
Why is my microwave not heating?
Check that the door is fully closed. Make sure the power cord is plugged in. If the fuse has blown or the circuit breaker tripped, replace or reset them. If the outlet is faulty, test it with another appliance. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
How do I clean the inside of the microwave?
Turn off the appliance and unplug it. Clean the interior with a damp cloth. For deep cleaning, place half a lemon in a bowl with 300 ml of water and run at 100% for 10 minutes. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scrapers.
Can I use the cooking rack in microwave mode?
No, the cooking rack can only be used in grill or combination mode. It is not compatible with microwave-only mode. Always place it on the glass turntable.
What should I do if the turntable makes noise?
Dirt has likely accumulated under the glass turntable. See the 'Cleaning and Maintenance' section to clean the turntable, rotating ring, and oven bottom with soapy water. Ensure the rotating ring is correctly positioned.
The microwave interferes with TV reception. Is this normal?
Yes, it is normal. Microwaves can cause interference with radio or TV reception, like other small electrical appliances (blenders, vacuum cleaners). Move the oven away from these devices if possible.
Can I heat liquids in sealed containers?
No, never heat liquids or food in sealed containers. This could cause pressure buildup and explosion. Always use open or lightly covered containers to allow steam to escape.
How to correctly install the microwave?
Place the oven on a flat, stable surface. Leave at least 30 cm above and 20 cm on sides for ventilation. The back should face a wall. Do not place the appliance near a heat source. Plug into a grounded outlet.
What to do in case of smoke emission?
Immediately turn off the appliance and unplug it. Keep the door closed to smother any flames. Do not open until smoke clears. If fire persists, call emergency services. Clean the interior afterwards to remove residues.
