USER MANUAL UM5 Bimar
his appliance is exclusively intended for home use to humidify rooms following the instructions in this booklet, that is to increase the humidity of the air in domestic environments. The appliance also includes an ozonator and aroma diffusor. Notwithstanding, the purification and perfuming of the air should be considered secondary functions. The appliance should be used according to the instructions in this booklet. Any other use is improper and dangerous. The manufacturer will not be liable for damage resulting from improper, incorrect or irresponsible use and/or for repairs made by unqualified persons.

ttention: when using electrical appliances, always follow basic safety precautions to avoid the risks of fire, electric shock and personal injury. You must take even more precautions when using electrical appliances that incorporate a water reservoir: in the case of water overflows, immediately remove the plug from the power outlet, make sure that the electrical components are not wet and, if they are, carefully dry them completely. Make sure that the main switch is turned to "0" (off), put the plug back into the outlet and then use the appliance. In the case of doubt, ask for professionally qualified help.

f the electric cord is damaged, it has to be replaced by the supplier or an authorized service center or a professionally qualified, to avoid any risks.

Should there be any impurtities or dirt in the receptacle, rinse it carefully, allow it to drip- dry and place it back in the appliance after having checked that the knob is in the “0” (off) position and that it is not plugged into the socket.11/36
o diffuse aromas in the room, moisten only the extractible felt of the aroma dispenser with a few drops of essential oils. Do not exceed the indicated quantities in order to prevent damage to the surface and to avoid that the oil leaks to the inside of the appliance. INSTALLATION
- After removing the packing materials, check the integrity of the appliance; if you are unsure, do not use it and ask for qualified professional help. The packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, etc.) must be kept out the reach of children because they are potential sources of danger; but dispose of them in accordance with current law.
- Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage shown on the data plate matches that of your electricity. In the event of incompatibility between the electric outlet and the plug of the appliance, have the outlet replaced with another more suitable type by professionally qualified personnel, who will make sure that the section of the wires of the outlet is appropriate for the absorbed power of the appliance. In general, the use of adapters or extension cords is not recommended; if their use is indispensable, they must conform to existing safety standards and their current capacity (amperes) must not be less that the maximum of the appliance.
- Before each use, verify that the appliance is in good condition and that the electrical cord is not damaged: in the case of doubt, ask for professionally qualified help.
- Make sure that the cable is correctly positioned, that it is not touching hot elements or sharp edges, is not wound around the utensil, is not twisted up on itself
- The power outlet should be easily accessible so you can easily disconnect the plug in case of an emergency..
- The appliance must not be positioned immediately under a socket.
- Place the humidifier away from sources of heat (stoves, fan heaters, etc.), carpets, parquet floors, curtains, upholstery or delicate furniture that could be damaged by contact with water or steam. The support surface must be water-resistant and to the oils/liquids that are used to moisten the aroma dispenser, and there must be at least 50 cm of free space around the appliance because water vapour can be deposited on objects that could be damaged. Make sure that the steam is not directed against a wall, which could be damaged.
- The support surface must be stable, wide (not on a shelf) and not sloping (because the appliance could tip over).
- Excessive humidity in the room could cause condensation on windows and furniture. In this case, turn off the humidifier.
- The appliance must be used at a temperature between 5 and 40 °C, with relative humidity less than 80%.
- Make sure that the appliance is working correctly: if not, turn off the appliance and have it checked by professionally-qualified personnel.
- Ensure that the vapour outlet and the aspirator grid at the base of the appliance are not obstructed by objects, fabrics or anything else in order to prevent the appliance from overheating or breaking down.12/36
Make sure the Steam output orifice is clean and free from foreign bodies.
- In the case of a breakdown or fault, switch off the appliance and have it checked by a professionally qualified technician; repairs made by unqualified persons can be dangerous and render void the warranty.
- Do not use the appliance with a timer or a programmer or with a system that can switch on the appliance automatically, to avoid risk of fire, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly. Attention: only fill the tank when the appliance is off and the plug is disconnected from the electric outlet. The tank of the humidifier holds about 2,8 litres of water and can run autonomously for about 8 to 9 hours.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Before using the appliance, ensure each time that it is in good order, and that the electric cord is not damaged: if the power cable is damaged, this must be replaced by the manufacturer or an appointed agent or by a similarly qualified person in order to limit any risks.
Warning: Always unplug the appliance from its power source before removing or assembling
the receptacle. It is equipped with the following features: - Humidifiier: it produces “fresh” vapour, nebulising the air with very small particles that are diffused by the movement of the air. It is operated by turning the knob that turns the appliance on and off and that regulates the nebulisation. a. in position “0” the appliance is not working b. in position “min” the appliance is working:starts to spray after a few moments (160g/h). c. in position “max”. the nebulization is maximum (280g/h) - Ozonation: generates (O
) in the right quantity to purify the air, eliminate odours and bacteria; it is activated by pressing the “ozone” button. - Aroma diffusor: diffuses a pleasant perfume of essential oils: just moisten the felt found in the base with a few drops of oil. - Water softening: this function is performed by the filter found in the lid. It eliminates hard deposits in the water. OPERATION
Before operating the appliance, always ensure that it is not connected to the power supply. Remove the plug from the socket.
2. To fill the receptacle (1): remove it from the base (2) and turn it over, unscrewing the lid (6)
in an anticlockwise direction. Add demineralised or distilled water through the opening in the receptacle. The water should obviously be free from impurities, at room temperature and clean. Fill up to the maximum level indicated (the word MAX is printed on the opening as shown in the diagram). Close the lid in a clockwise direction, sealing it carefully.
Warning: do not add oils or other essences to the water in order to prevent damaging and
compromising the appliance’s performance. Attention: do not fill the tank beyond the level required.13/36
3. Place the receptacle on its base in the correct manner: ensure that the two arrows match up (on
the base and on the receptacle, found at the back).
Ensure that the knob is in the “0” position (off): and most importantly that the water has not overflowed.
5. Plug the appliance in.
6. Turn the knob (3) in a clockwise direction to the “min” position and corresponding to the
amount of nebulisation required: minimum, intermediate or maximum. After a few seconds, vapour will start forming.
7. When the water runs out, the nebuliser will automatically stop: to fill up the receptable again,
follow the instructions above in paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and 4.
8. For ozonation, press the “ozone” button (9) completely. To stop it, press it again and release.
9. To diffuse perfumes, extract the filter carrier from the base (11), moisten the felt (12) with a
few drops of essential oils and insert the filter carrier once again in its proper place. Be careful not to add too much oil so as to prevent damage to the surface and the appliance itself. Do not add the essential oils to the water in the receptacle or inside the unit.
10. In order to turn the appliance off, turn the knob to the “0” position, turning it in an
anticlockwise direction and unplug the unit from the power source.
11. After each use, empty out any water that may have collected in the tray inside the base and
dry it using a soft cloth If the device is not to be used for a long time, remove the plug from the electric outlet and make sure the tank and inside of the base are perfectly dry.
Warning: if you do not plan to use the appliance for two or more consecutive days, make sure
that the tank and the tray have been completely drained. Dry them to prevent the formation of bacteria and algae in the stagnant water
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

To prevent the formation of bacteria or deposits, and to increase the lifespan of the humidifier and its components (ceramic filter etc), remove any limescale deposits that may form (more frequently if the water is hard) or other impurities. Ceramic filter (perform monthly)
1. Remove the lid of the receptacle, unscrew the ferrule (5) from the filter (7) in an
anticlockwise direction.
2. Place the filter in a container with white vinegar (8 degrees) or a descaling agent for 10

Clean the inside of the tray with a soft cloth that has been moistened slightly with water and vinegar, then dry. Avoid using abrasive products that may scratch the surface. Do not wash under running water, do not immerse in water, do not wash in a dishwasher. Before using it again, ensure that it is completely dry.
2. By not adhering to the maintenance and cleaning instructions, microorganisms could form in
the water. The following cleaning instructions, therefore, should be carried out regularly in order to guarantee that the appliance will work correctly and efficiently.
- Do not immerse the appliance, its plug or electrical cable in water or other liquids.
- Periodically check the steam output orifice is not obstructed.
- To clean the body use a soft damp cloth; do not use abrasive products.
- A special tool is required to replace the electrical cord: contact an authorized service center, also for any repairs.
- If you decide not to use the appliance any more, we recommend making it inoperative by cutting the power cord (after making sure you have disconnected the plug from the socket) and make dangerous parts harmless if children are allowed to play with them. Important information for correct disposal of the product under the European Directive 2011/65/EU. At the end of its lifespan, the product must not be disposed of as part of ordinary waste. It can be handed in to specific collection points set up by the municipality, or to retailers who provide such a service. Disposing of a household appliance separately avoids possible negative consequences for the environment and human health resulting from inappropriate disposal and allows the recovery of the materials of which it is made in order to obtain significant savings in energy and resources. As a reminder of the obligation to dispose of appliances separately, the product is marked with a wheeled bin symbol. Incorrect disposal of the product by the user will lead to administrative sanctions according to current regulations.15/36
