Should I drain the water pump of the SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 15/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Yes, it is recommended to drain the water pump of your SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer, especially in the following cases:

  • If you do not plan to use the device for an extended period.
  • If you live in an area where temperatures can drop below freezing, to prevent frozen water from damaging the pump.

How to drain the water pump:

  1. Turn off and unplug the device.
  2. Disconnect the water inlet hose.
  3. Tilt the washer slightly to allow any residual water to drain from the pump.
  4. Open the tap or lance to facilitate the complete evacuation of water.
  5. Check that the pump is completely empty before storing the device.

This operation helps to extend the lifespan of your pressure washer and prevent damage related to freezing or stagnant water.

How to drain the motor on a SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 15/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Your SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer is equipped with an electric motor and not a combustion engine. Therefore, there is no oil drain to perform on this model. Maintenance of this type of device is much simpler than that of a gasoline engine.

Maintenance of the electric device: After each use, regularly clean the device with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Strictly avoid cleaning products or solvents that could damage the plastic parts. Above all, never allow water to enter the device, as moisture significantly increases the risk of electric shock and electrical malfunction.

Maintenance of wear parts: The parts subject to normal wear on the HCE1400 are the high-pressure hose, the lance, the nozzles and accessories, the air filter, and the seals. These elements should be inspected regularly and replaced if damaged, using only original SCHEPPACH parts.

Preparation for winter and prolonged storage: If your pressure washer will not be used for more than 3 months and you live in an area where freezing is possible, it is recommended to fill the device with an antifreeze product (similar to those used for vehicles). This prevents damage caused by frost to the electric pump.

Before any maintenance operation: Always unplug the device from the electrical outlet. Do not attempt internal repairs or modifications yourself, as the electric motor must be kept in good working order by a qualified person if necessary.

How to properly maintain the SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 15/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

To ensure a long lifespan and optimal operation of your SCHEPPACH HCE1400 pressure washer, regular maintenance is essential. Here’s how to keep your device in good condition.

Cleaning after each use. Regularly clean the device with a damp cloth and a little black soap. Never use cleaning products or solvents that could damage the plastic components of the device. Ensure that water cannot enter the inside, as this increases the risk of electric shock. It is particularly important to clean the nozzle regularly to avoid blockages. If a nozzle is blocked, use the nozzle cleaning needle provided with the device to clear it.

Water quality and operating conditions. The incoming water must be clean and should not be dirty, sandy, or contaminated with chemicals, as this would compromise the operation and durability of the machine. Only use cold or moderately warm water, with a maximum temperature of 50°C. Ensure that the device operates only between 5°C and 50°C. Note that a small leak at the pump is normal and helps prevent damage to the pump when not in use.

Checking hoses and connections. Regularly inspect the high-pressure hoses and fittings for any cracks, leaks, or wear. Also, check the power cord and ensure that no water is passing through it. Immediately replace any damaged parts to avoid any risk of leaks or loss of pressure.

Prolonged stops and frost protection. If you anticipate a prolonged stop of the device (more than 3 months) in a location at risk of frost, it is recommended to fill the machine with an antifreeze product similar to that used in vehicles. This prevents limescale deposits from forming in the electric pump and hindering the subsequent start-up of the device.

Proper storage. Store the device and all its accessories in a dark, dry place, protected from frost, out of reach of children. The ideal storage temperature is between 5°C and 30°C. Keep the tool in its original packaging and cover it to protect it from dust and moisture. Keep the user manual close to the device for future reference.

Limited internal maintenance. Inside the device, no other parts should require maintenance. For any intervention that exceeds external cleaning, contact an authorized Scheppach after-sales service.

By diligently following these maintenance tips, your SCHEPPACH HCE1400 will remain efficient, reliable, and safe for all your cleaning tasks.

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

- Pressure points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors

  • Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed
  • Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over
    • Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet
    • Cracks due to the insulation ageing.

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage.

Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are disconnected from electrical power when checking for damage.

Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables with designation H05VV-F.

The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory.

AC motor

The mains voltage must be 230 V\~

Extension cables up to 25 m long must have a cross-section of 1.5 mm ^4 .

- Before connecting the machine, make certain that the data on the type plate matches with the mains power data.

Connection type Y

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their service department or a similarly qualified person to avoid dangers.

11. Cleaning

Danger!

Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any cleaning work.

  • Keep protective devices, air vents and the engine housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub the device clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
    • We recommend that you clean the device directly after every use.

- Clean the device at regular intervals using a damp cloth and a little soft soap. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the device. Make sure that no water can penetrate the device interior. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

11.1 Cleaning the nozzle (Fig. 1)

  1. To clean a clogged nozzle, please use the nozzle cleaner needle (15) provided.

11.2 Long service life of the electric pump

If longer downtimes of the machine (more than 3 months) are planned in rooms where there is a risk of frost, it is advisable to fill the product with an anti-freeze (similar agent as used for vehicles).

If the device has not been used for a long time, limescale builds up in the electric pump, which can lead to starting difficulties.

12. Storage

Store the device and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature lies between 5 and 30 °C.

Store the power tool in its original packaging. Cover the power tool to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating manual with the power tool.

13. Maintenance

The device has no further internal parts that require maintenance.
