PRIMA ACCENSIONE DELLA MACCHINA
Melchioni S.p.a., owner of the Melchioni Family brand, thanks you for purchasing this appliance. It is the result of a careful selection of features and the meticulous refinement of details, with the aim of offering a complete, versatile, reliable and high-performance solution for both the occasional and the most demanding users. This manual contains important information both for the correct use of the appliance and for its safe operation. It is essential to read and understand its contents before performing any operations in order to obtain the best performance from the appliance. Keep this manual even after reading it, as you may need to refer to it in the future. The Melchioni Family team is at your disposal for any advice, instructions or suggestions.
Intended use: This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environments. It is prohibited to make any technical changes to the machine. Do not use the machine for unauthorized purposes since this would create serious hazards! The machine may not be used by children under 8 years of age or persons with physical, sensory or mental impairment, or lacking the necessary experience, unless supervised or after being instructed in the safe use of the machine and understanding the potential dangers. Do not let children play with the machine. Keep the machine and its mains lead out of the reach of children under 8 years of age. The necessary cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children if not under direct supervision. Installation site: Place the coffee machine in a safe place, where nobody may overturn it or be injured by it. Do not keep the machine at a temperature below 4°C (39,2°F) as freezing may damage it. Do not use the coffee machine outdoors. Do not place the machine on very hot surfaces or close to flames. Power supply: Connect the coffee machine to a suitable mains socket. The voltage must match the one on the appliance identification plate.15 Power supply cable: Do not operate the coffee machine if the power cord is damaged. Should -the pow er cord be damaged, have it replaced by the manufacturer or the relevant service centre, in order to prevent any risk. The power cord should not be placed on corners, on sharp edges or hot objects. Do not carry or pull the coffee machine holding it by the power cord. Do not remove the plug by pulling the power cord, do not touch it with wet hands. Power cord should not hang loose from tables or shelves. Danger of electrocution: Live parts should never come into touch with water. Do not immerse t-he ma chine in water. Protect children under 8 years of age: Prevent children from playing with the machine. Children are not aware of the risks related to electric household appliances. Do not leave the machine-packaging materials within the reach of children. Danger of burns: Do not touch the hot parts (cartridge holder group) of the machine immediately after use. While dispensing the drink, pay attention to any possible splashes of hot liquid. Cleaning: Before cleaning, unplug the machine and let it cool down. Do not immerse the machine in water! It is strictly forbidden to tamper with the internal parts of the machine. Change the water in the tank if not used for 3 days. To prevent damage to the appliance do not use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning, use a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Storing the machine: If the machine remains inactive for a long time, unplug it and store it in a dry place out of reach of children. Keep it protected from dust and dirt. Servicing / Maintenance: In case of failure, problems or a suspected fault resulting from falling of the machine, immediately unplug the machine. Do not attempt to operate a faulty machine. Servicing and repairs can only be performed by Authorized Service Centre. All liability for damages resulting from work not carried out by-professionals is declined. Water tank: Fill the tank only with fresh, non-sparkling, drinking water. Do not operate the machine if the water is not at least above the minimum level indicated on the tank.16
Capsule compartment: This machine can only be used with compatible capsules; do not put your fingers or any other object in the capsule compartment. The capsules can be used only once. Machine disposal at the end of its operational life: INFORMATION FOR THE USER: the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin on the appliance or its packaging indicates that the product must be disposed of separately from other waste at the end of its operational life. The user must therefore take the appliance to be disposed of to an appropriate separate collection centre for electrical and electronic equipment. Appropriate separate collection for the dismantled appliance being subsequent l sent out for recycling, treatment and for environmentally friendly disposal, contribute to the prevention of possible negative effects on the environment and on human health, and encourage recycling of the materials the appliance is made of. Specific administrative sanctions provided for by current regulations w-ill be applied for illicit disposal of the product by the user. No liability is held for damage caused by:
incorrect use not in accordance with the intended purposes;
repairs not carried out by authorized service centre;
tampering with the power supply cable;
tampering with any parts of the machine;
the use of non-original spare parts and accessories;
storage at temperature in places with temperature below 10°C (50°F) or above 40°C (104°F);
use in places with relative humidity above 95%;
use of capsules others than indicated. In these cases, the warranty is not valid.
Place the coffee machine on a flat and stable surface, far from water and heat sources. Do not connect the machine to the mains supply. Machine damages due to non-observance of these indications are not covered by warranty. 1、Lift and remove the water tank itself. 2、Rinse off the tank. 3、Fill the water tank up to the MAX level indicated, using only fresh drinking water. Fit the tank back into place,then close by using the cover. Hot water and other liquids can damage the tank and the machine. Do not operate the machine without water: make sure that there is enough water in the tank.
4、Fit the supply plug into the power outlet. 6、Press any button to start the machine.
Press the switch-on/supply.19
7、The coffee machine starts the heating cycle. The switch on/supply buttons will start blinking to a light white. 8、 The machine will be ready for use when the buttons light up to a steady light. 9、Press the Double cup button, Press the Double cup button again after the automatic end 10、At first power-on, supply at least 500ml of water with out capsule placing a container under the Coffee dispensing unit.
STAND-BY FUNCTION Automatic power off: To ensure the energy conservation the machine automatically passes to the power off after 9 minutes of not being used. Manual power off To turn off the machine press simultaneously the “Single” and “Double” buttons for at 1 seconds, then release button, all indicator lights turn off, indicates that the machine is now off. Power on The machine can be reactivated by pressing the any buttons again. COFFEE DISPENSING Make sure that the switch-on/supply buttons lights up to a steady white light. Never put fingers or objects in the pod-holder. Only compatible capsules must be introduced in the pod-holder. Single-dose capsules are prepared to dispense one coffee/product. DO NOT use the capsules more than once. Inserting two or more capsules can cause the machine to malfunction. To always have a coffee at the perfect temperature, it is recommended to preheat the cup with hot water. Position the cup under the dispensing spout without inserting the capsule. Press one of the switch-on/sup ply buttons to supply hot water enough to preheat the cup. If power supply is interrupted during the coffee supply cycle, restore power supply and restart the coffee sup ply procedure. If during the supply cycle, water lacks in the tank, please press button to stop machine. then proceed as follows 1、 Fill the water tank up to the MAX level indicated.20 2、 Press the power-on/supply button previously selected. The button will start flashing and the coffee supply procedure will restart. After about 7 supplies capsules, please empty the capsules drawer. Now the machine is ready for a new supply. Can I put a small cup. Flip over the Drip tray grill cover to fit a slightly larger cup Remove the Drip tray to enlarge the cup.21
- Lift the lever completely and insert the capsule. - Close the lever and place a cup adapted to the desired beverage under the coffee outlet
Single (10 sec) Double (15 sec) - Press the Single (10 sec) or the Double (15 sec) button. Preparation will stop automatically. To stop the coffee flow or top up your coffee, press again.
- Few seconds after the end of the preparation, lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container. Do not open the lever too early. The button will light up to a blinking white light when the product is being supplied. To supply the product again, wait for the switch-on/ supply button to light up to a steady white light.22
6. PROGRAMMING QUANTITY
NOTE: We recommend you to keep factory settings for “Single” and “Double” to ensure the best in cup results for each of our coffee varieties. Programming coffee quantity: Follow the step 1~2 of section "coffee preparation"(P9) Touch and hold “Single” / “Double” for at least 2 sec to enter the programming mode. Brewing starts and button blinks fast. Release button when desired volume is reached. Coffee volume is now stored for the next coffee preparations. Quantity programmable Min Default Max Double 5 sec 15 sec 60 sec Single 5 sec 10 sec 60 sec Restoring quantity to default settings NOTE: This procedure resets coffee volumes & power off timing to the default values. Touch and hold “Single” and “Double” button for at least 3 sec to enter the restoring quantity mode. Then release button, All buttons blink 3 times: all volumes are reset to default settings.23
7. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Never use solvents, alcohol or other aggressive substances or ovens for drying the coffee machine components. Wash machine components (electric components excluded) with cold/lukewarm water and non-abrasive clothes/sponges. All removable components can be cleaned by using a dishwasher. Do not leave water in the tank and water circuit for more than 3 days. If this is the case, drain the tank and circuit, rinse it and refill it with fresh water, then carry out a delivery without capsule before making any coffee or other beverage. Coffee dispenser cleaning To clean the dispenser, perform a weekly coffee brewing procedure without inserting the capsule. Cleaning the capsule collecting drawer and the drop collecting The used capsule collecting drawer and the drop collecting drawer should be emptied and cleaned after making coffee 4/5 times or every two/three days.
Take out the filter bowl. Rinse clean and dry.
Limescale normally builds up with extended use of the appliance; the machine needs descaling every 3-4 months and/or whenever a reduction in water flow is noticed In the event of any operational conflict, this use and maintenance manual shall prevail on any indication specified on accessories and/or components sold separately. For descaling can be used a descaling product for coffee machines of non-toxic and/or harmful type, commercially available. Do not drink the descaling solution and products dispensed until the completion of the cycle. Never use vinegar as a descaling solution.
1、Remove and empty the water tank 2、Refill the tank with a descaling solution and water as specified on the package of the descaling product. Refit the tank. 3、Power the machine ON and place a suitable container under the spout. 4、Press “Double” button, and then supply two cups (approximately 150 ml each) of water. 5、Allow the descaling solution to work for about 15-20 minute. 6、Switch-on the machine pressing any button, pressing “Double” button preparation will stop automatically. 7、Repeat the step 6 until the water tank is completely empty. 8、Remove the tank and rinse it with fresh drinking water. Fill it completely. 9、Place a suitable container under the dispenser. Press “Double” button, then supply the full content of the tank. 10、When the water is finished, refill the tank and repeat the steps 6. When finished, the 5nd of the descaling cycle is completed.25

CIALDINA (cod. 118320005) is in compliance with Directive 2014/35/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 26 february 2014, on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits. The producer Melchioni Spa declares that the product Pod coffee machine Mod. CIALDINA (cod. 118320005) is in compliance with Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 21 october 2009, establishing a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for energy-related products. The producer Melchioni Spa declares that the product Pod coffee machine Mod. CIALDINA (cod. 118320005) is in compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 8 june 2011 and subsequent Commission Delegated Directive 2015/863, on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. According to Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 4 july 2012, on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), the presence of the crossed-out bin symbol indicates that this appliance is not to be considered as urban waste: its disposal must therefore be carried out by separate
collection. Disposal in a non-separate manner may constitute a potential harm to the environment and health. This product can be returned to the distributor when purchasing a new device. Improper disposal of the appliance constitutes misconduct and is subject to sanctions by the Public Security Authority. For further information, contact the local administration responsible for environmental matters.
10. PRODUCT WARRANTY
Melchioni Spa, based in Milan (Italy), via Colletta 37, recognizes a conventional guarantee on the product for a period of two years from the date of the first purchase by the consumer. This guarantee does not affect the26 validity of the legislation in force concerning consumer goods (Legislative Decree 6 September 2005 n. 206 art. 128 and following), of which the consumer remains the owner. This guarantee applies to the entire territory of the European Union. The components or parts that are found to be defective for ascertained manufacturing causes will be repaired or replaced free of charge through the dealer, during the above warranty period. Melchioni Spa reserves the right to make a complete replacement of the device, if repairability is impossible or excessively expensive, with another device of similar characteristics (Legislative Decree 6 September 2005 no. 206 art. 130) during the warranty period. In this case, the validity of the warranty remains that of the original purchase: the service provided under warranty does not extend the warranty period. In any case, this appliance will not be considered defective in terms of materials or manufacture should it be adapted, changed or adjusted, in order to comply with national or local safety and / or technical standards, in force in a country other than that for which it is was originally designed and manufactured. This appliance has been designed and built for domestic use only: any other use will invalidate the benefits of the guarantee. The warranty does not cover: parts subject to wear or tear, nor those parts that require periodic replacement and / or maintenance professional use of the product malfunctions or any defects due to incorrect installation, configuration, software / BIOS / firmware update not performed by authorized Melchioni Spa repairs or interventions carried out by persons not authorized by Melchioni Spa manipulation of assembly components or, where applicable, of the software defects caused by fall or transport, lightning, voltage fluctuations, liquid infiltration, opening of the appliance, bad weather, fire, public disturbances, inadequate ventilation or incorrect power supply any accessories, for example: boxes, bags, batteries, etc. used with this product home interventions for convenience checks or presumed defects The recognition of the guarantee by Melchioni Spa is subject to the presentation of a tax document that proves the actual date of purchase. The same must not show any tampering or deletions, in the presence of which Melchioni Spa reserves the right to refuse the provision of treatment under warranty. The warranty will not be recognized if the serial number or model of the appliance is non-existent, abraded or modified. This warranty does not include any right to compensation for direct or indirect damage, of any nature, to people or things, caused by any inefficiency of the appliance.
