How to install the EDKM1 transmitter?

Carefully open the transmitter casing. Use the back plate as a template, mark the holes, drill and insert wall plugs. Fix the back plate with the provided screws, then clip on the front plate. You can also use double-sided adhesive tape.

How to install the EDKM1 receiver?

Choose an indoor location (the receiver is not waterproof). You can place it on a flat surface or mount it on the wall using a hook or nail.

What type of batteries to use for the receiver?

The EDKM1 receiver operates with 3 AA 1.5V batteries (not included). Respect the polarity indicated in the battery compartment.

How to pair the transmitter and receiver?

Press and hold the receiver button for 5 seconds until a double beep sounds. Then, press the transmitter button. The transmitter emits a beep to confirm pairing. If the receiver emits a double beep, the pairing failed.

How to change the melody?

Use the melody selector (mark [5] on the receiver) to browse through the 32 available melodies. Press the transmitter button to test the selected melody.

How to adjust the volume?

Turn the volume control (mark [4] on the receiver) to adjust the sound level to your liking.

What is the maximum range and how to optimize it?

The range is 150 m in open field. Walls, metal, or PVC can reduce the range. For best performance, avoid obstacles and place the receiver as high as possible.

Does the transmitter require a battery?

No, the transmitter is battery-free. It is self-powered by the doorbell mechanism.

What to do if the device does not work?

First check that the receiver batteries are correctly installed and charged. Ensure the transmitter and receiver are turned on. Perform a pairing. If the problem persists, consult the full manual.

How to maintain the doorbell?

4. Battery

Refer to the illustrations on page 2 of this manual.

Receiver EDKM1

1. Open the receiver to reveal the battery compartment.
2. Install 3 x 1.5 V AA batteries according to the correct polarity.
3. Close the battery compartment. Proceed with the installation.

Remark: Remove the batteries if the transmitter and receiver will not be used for a longer period.

CAUTION:

Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.

Replace only with the same or equivalent type.

Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

Do not puncture batteries or throw them in fire as they may explode. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries (alkaline). Dispose of batteries in accordance with local regulations. Keep batteries away from children.

5. Installation

Test the operating range between the receiver and the transmitter. The operating range is 150 m in the open air, but may be less due to walls and other obstructions such as PVC or metal frames.

Refer to the illustrations on page 2 of this manual.

Transmitter

1. Carefully open the housing of the transmitter and use the back plate as a template. Mark the drilling holes at the required height.
2. Drill the holes using a drill and the appropriate drill bit (not included).
3. Insert a nylon plug (included) into each hole.
4. Fix the back plate with the included screws. Click the front plate onto the back plate.
5. Apply a name tag [1] if desired.

Remark: You can also fix the transmitter using double-sided tape.

Receiver EDKM1

1. Choose the installation spot for the receiver.
2. The receiver can be fixed to a wall using a hook or nail [6].

Receiver EDKP1

Plug the receiver into the mains.

6. Operation

Refer to the illustrations on page 2 of this manual.

1. Make sure both the receiver and transmitter are powered.
2. The receiver will ring when the button on the transmitter [2] is pressed.
3. Select the melody with the melody selector [5] and adjust the volume with volume control button [4].

7. Pairing

1. On the receiver, hold the button pressed for 5 seconds until you hear a "ding-dong" sound.
2. Now, press the transmitter button. The transmitter emits a "ding" sound to confirm successful pairing. The receiver emits a "ding-dong" sound when it exits the pairing mode.

General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):

- All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.

- Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.

You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.

• Not covered by warranty:

- all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits; - consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);

- flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....;

- flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions;

- damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);

- damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;

- all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.

- Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.

- Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.

• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.

- The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
