The filter holder4 has an anti-drip valve5. This ensures that no coffee drips out of the fil- ter when you remove the pot8. In order to ensure that the anti-drip valve5 opens during the brewing process, it is im- portant that the filter holder4 is inserted cor- rectly and the pot8 with its lid12 closed is positioned completely in the coffee ma- chine. The fitted lid12 of the pot8 opens the anti-drip valve5. Other- wise the filter can overflow.

Always fill the water tank6 at least up to the marking for 2 cups (2). Do not fill with water above the10 MAX marking in the water tank.

2. Only fill fresh, cold tap water into the

permanent filter2. For medium-strength coffee, put one coffee spoon (around 7 - 8 g) of ground coffee powder per cup into the filter. Use ground coffee powder for filter coffee. If you grind the coffee yourself, grind it to a medium grinding degree. NOTE: you can also use a paper filter. In this case, the permanent filter2 must not be inserted, however. Place a paper filter (size 1x4) with folded sides directly into the filter holder4. When it is folded, the paper filter fits better in the filter holder4 and the seams are prevented from tearing.

8. Close the cover14.

9. It is very important that the

pot8 has a closed lid12 when it is placed on the hot plate9. 10.Press the button 10. The button lights up. The brewing process will start after a short time. 11.After the end of the brewing process, the hot plate9 remains active for ap- prox. 40 minutes, and the button 10 flashes approx. every 2 seconds. The hot plate9 then switches itself off and the 10 button goes out. NOTE: by pressing the 10 button, you can cancel the brewing process and switch off the hot plate9 sooner at any time. Time intervals for descaling The intervals for descaling are dependent on the hardness of the water, and how often you use the device. Where the hardness of the water is medium or high, we recommend descaling monthly. If using tap water, you can find out the hard- ness of the water in the area where you live by inquiring at your local waterworks. After some time, the boiling process will re- sult in limescale being deposited in parts of the coffee machine (depending on the hard- ness of the water used). You should remove this at regular intervals, because otherwise the power consumption of the device will in- crease.

1. Turn off the coffee machine and allow it

to cool down completely.
