Frequently Asked Questions - Coffeeline G1 BARTSCHER

How to program the coffee dosage?
To program the dosage, press and hold the continuous operation button on the left brewing system for more than 8 seconds. The display shows 'Dose programming'. Press the button to program (1x espresso, 1x coffee, etc.). The dispensing starts; press the same button again to store the quantity. This programming affects all corresponding buttons if done from the left panel.
How to set the clock and automatic timer?
To set the clock, press and hold the continuous operation button on the left system for more than 8 seconds, then press '2x espresso' until 'Set Clock' appears. Use '1x espresso' to increase and '1x coffee' to decrease values (hour, minutes, day). Confirm with '2x espresso'. For the automatic timer (Auto ON/OFF), access the same menu and set the on and off times.
How to clean the brewing system?
Use the self-cleaning function: place the membrane in the filter, add a dose of professional cleaning product, insert the filter into the brewing head. Turn off the machine with the main switch, hold down the '2x espresso' button and turn it on again. Release the button when the process starts. Then rinse without product by repeating the operation.
What to do if the display shows an alarm?
Alarms indicate a problem: low water, filter change required, need for descaling, etc. Refer to chapter 7 of the manual to identify the message. For example, 'Alarm Time-out Boiler Fill' indicates a water supply issue. To reset some alarms, turn off the machine with the main switch, hold down the '2x espresso' and '2x coffee' buttons, then turn it back on.
How to use the steam function?
To heat milk or a liquid, first purge the steam wand over the drip tray. Immerse the wand in the liquid, open the steam valve. After use, close the valve, purge again and wipe the wand with a damp cloth. Never remove the wand from the liquid while the valve is open to avoid burns.
How to descale the machine?
Descaling must be performed by an authorized technician if deposits form despite the water softener. If water hardness exceeds 6°f, it is imperative to connect the machine to a softening system. Never attempt to descale yourself; this could damage the appliance.
What are the important safety instructions?
Electrical risk: plug only into a protected outlet. Do not touch the appliance with wet hands. Hot surfaces: do not touch the steam wand or brewing head during operation. Intended use: the appliance is intended solely for preparing coffee and hot water. Do not insert objects into openings.
How to adjust water hardness?
The machine does not allow direct adjustment of water hardness. If the water is hard (more than 6°f), install a water softener upstream. The appliance is compatible with an external descaling system. Contact customer service for more information.
Can I use coffee capsules?
No, this machine is designed to use fresh ground coffee. It is equipped with removable filters (for one or two cups) into which you place the ground coffee and tamp with the tamper. Use of capsules is not supported.
How to change the water filter?
The manual does not mention an internal water filter. The descaling system is external. If you use a water softener, follow the softener manufacturer's instructions. For the machine's filter (filter basket), simply turn it left after brewing. Clean it daily with water.

How to clean the steam nozzle and filters of the BARTSCHER Coffeeline G1 coffee machine?
Frequently Asked Questions - 27/03/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Daily cleaning of the steam nozzle

After each use, hold the steam diffuser above the drip tray. Open the steam regulator to a low level to eliminate water droplets and milk residues inside. Then close the regulator and gently wipe the diffuser with a cloth or damp sponge to remove any marks. This operation takes a few seconds and prevents the buildup of residues.

Cleaning the filter baskets at the end of the day

At the end of each working day, remove the filter basket from the brewing head. Rinse it under running warm water only, without any cleaning product, to eliminate coffee residues. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.

Thorough weekly cleaning of the filters

Once a week, perform a deep cleaning with a cleaning product suitable for professional coffee machines. Remove the filter basket and place a dose of cleaning product inside. Insert the basket into the brewing head until it clicks into place. Turn on the device while holding down the “2 x espresso” button of the system to be cleaned from the start to trigger the automatic self-cleaning process.

Final rinse after chemical cleaning

Once the self-cleaning process is complete, remove the filter basket, then turn the device back on and activate the “2 x espresso” button again without any cleaning product to completely rinse away the residues of the product. This step is essential before any new use. The device is ready for use as soon as the rinsing is completed.

Important points

Always turn off and unplug the device before any cleaning. Never use a high-pressure water jet on the machine. For cleaning the casing, a simple damp cloth is sufficient. The filter baskets must be completely dry before reinstalling to avoid brewing issues.

What does the error message E3 mean on the BARTSCHER Coffeeline G1 coffee machine and how can I resolve the issue of the thermal block (steam) being too hot?
Frequently Asked Questions - 27/03/2026

The error message E3 on the BARTSCHER Coffeeline G1 coffee machine indicates that the temperature of the thermal block, responsible for steam production, is too high. This malfunction can lead to overheating and potentially damage the machine if no action is taken.

Possible Causes

  • Insufficient water level in the tank, preventing adequate cooling.
  • Clogging or contamination of the steam nozzle or ducts, causing pressure buildup.
  • Faulty thermostat or temperature sensor.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

  1. Immediately turn off the machine to avoid any further damage.
  2. Allow it to cool down completely for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. Check the water level in the tank and refill if necessary.
  4. Inspect and clean the steam nozzle and ducts to remove any obstruction or residue.
  5. Restart the machine once cooled to check if the error persists.

If the problem persists
