- Function
The solar cell unit 1 converts energy from sunlight into electricity. It charges the rechargeable battery inside the battery compartment 7 through the cable. The rechargeable battery store electricity supplied by the solar cell unit 1. Fully charged rechargeable battery provide power for about 3-5 hours of light. In summer, completely drained rechargeable battery take about 2 to 4 days to fully recharge in good sunlight. The rechargeable battery must be charged prior to initial use (see "Charging the rechargeable battery").
Before first use
Note: Remove all packaging materials from the product.
- Charging the rechargeable battery
Note: The rechargeable battery inside the product is charged at delivery. However, it may have lost charge during transport from the manufacturer to the retail location. Therefore charge the rechargeable battery prior to use.
Set the switch to the R'' or FLASH'' position (see Fig. D).
Note: In constant sunlight (depending on the season) the drained rechargeable battery should take two to ten days to charge.
Replace the rechargeable battery 8 if the light output does not improve after charging (Fig. B + C).
- Installing the product
Install the product in accordance with Fig. A
- Place the main unit 6 on to the pole 4
- Insert ground spike 5 into the pole 4 with the tip facing downwards.
- Turn the joint screw 3 counter-clockwise to adjust the angle of the lamp head 2 as well as the angle of the solar cell unit 1.
- Tighten the joint screw 3 after adjusting the angle.
For optimal results, place the product in a location where the solar cell unit 1 is exposed to direct sunlight for as long as possible.
To adjust the angle of incidence, loosen the joint screw to position the solar cell unit 1 correctly.
Then tighten the joint screw 3.
Do not place the product under shrubs, trees, awnings, etc. This will reduce the incidence of sunlight (see Fig. F).
Position the product so the solar cell unit 1 is not covered or shaded.
Make sure the solar cell unit 1 is not impacted by other light sources, e.g. yard- or street lighting, or the light will not switch on at twilight.
Note: Push the assembled product far enough into the ground (grass, flower bed) to be stable. Make sure it is firmly placed (see Fig. E).
Note: Do not use force during assembly or setup, e.g. hammer blows. This damages the product.
- Start-up (see Fig. D)
The switch 9 features the following functions:
- Position „OFF“: Product is off.
-Position, R^ : The solar cell unit 1 charges the rechargeable battery 8 in sunlight. The product automatically switches on continuous light or off once the solar cell unit 1 detects dusk or dawn.
-Position, FLASH": The solar cell unit 1 charges the rechargeable battery 8 in sunlight. The product automatically switches on flash light or off once the solar cell unit 1 detects dusk or dawn.
- Cleaning and care/ storage
Never use caustic cleaners.
First switch off the product.
Regularly clean the product with a dry, lint-free cloth. Use a slightly moist cloth to remove any stubborn dirt.
Note: Be sure the solar cell unit 1 is always clean to achieve good charging.
Cold temperatures have a negative impact on the battery operating time. When not using the product for extended periods, e.g. in winter,
it should be cleaned and stored in a dry, warm location. Be sure the switch 9 is set to the "OFF" position during storage.
- Replacing rechargeable battery
Set the switch to the "OFF" position (see Fig. D).
Remove the solar cell unit 1 by loosening the 4 screws on the underside of the battery compartment 7. The battery compartment 7 is located inside the solar cell unit 1.
Remove the old rechargeable battery and insert a new rechargeable battery in the battery compartment noting correct polarity (see Fig. B-C).
Then install all components in the reverse order. Be careful not to damage the cable.
