How to use the chopper function?
Place the drive shaft on the base, install the bowl and chopping blade, then the lid. Use the Pulse function several times to avoid over-chopping. Standard time: 30 to 60 seconds.
How to change the slicing or grating discs?
Unplug the appliance. Place the support disc on the drive shaft, then install the desired disc (thin slices, thick slices, french fries, fine grater, coarse grater). Secure the lid by turning clockwise.
What is the maximum chopping capacity?
For meat, up to 500 g per batch; for cheese, up to 200 g; for chocolate, up to 100 g. Do not exceed these amounts to avoid overloading the motor.
How to use the blender?
Make sure the blade and transmission head are properly attached. Add food to the jug, close with the lid and cap. Place the jug on the base and turn clockwise to lock.
How to use the grinder?
Turn the grinder base counterclockwise to remove it, add ingredients, then screw back on. Place the complete grinder on the base, use the Pulse function 1-2 times for pre-grinding, then speed 1 or 2 for final grinding.
How to clean the appliance?
Unplug and allow to cool. Wipe the motor base with a damp cloth. Removable parts (bowl, lid, blades, etc.) can be washed in warm soapy water. Never immerse the motor base in water.
What to do if the appliance stops suddenly?
The appliance is equipped with thermal protection. If it overheats, it shuts off automatically. Let it cool for about 15 minutes before using again. If the problem persists, contact an authorized service center.
What is the maximum continuous operating time?
Do not operate the appliance for more than one minute without interruption. After one minute, turn off and let cool for 10 minutes. After 5 cycles, let cool for 90 minutes before resuming.
How to knead dough?
Install the kneading blade on the drive shaft in the bowl. Add ingredients (max 300g flour or 5 eggs). Place the lid and use the appropriate speed. Standard time: 20 seconds.

Intended use

Your BLACK+DECKER™ FX1050 food processor has been designed for use in slicing and chopping various ingredients. This appliance is intended for indoor household use only.

This appliance is not intended to be used in:

  • Staff kitchen areas in shops;
  • Offices and other working environments;
  • Farm houses;
  • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
  • Bed and breakfast type environments or any other non-household environments

In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility

  • Warning! When using mains-powered appliances, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury.

Using your appliance

• Always take care when using the appliance.
- Misuse could cause injury.
- Do not use the appliance outdoors.
- Do not operate the appliance if your hands are wet. Do not operate the appliance if you are barefoot.
- Guide the power supply cord neatly so it does not hang over the edge of a work top and cannot be caught accidentally or tripped over.

- Be careful if hot liquid is poured into the food processor or blender as it can be ejected out of the appliance due to a sudden steaming.

- Keep loose clothing, hair, etc. away from moving parts.

- Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect the plug from the socket. Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges.

- If the power supply cord is damaged during use, disconnect the appliance from the power supply

immediately. Do not touch the power supply cord before disconnecting from the power supply.

  • Switch off the appliance and disconnect from the supply before changing accessories or approaching parts that move in use
  • Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use and before changing accessories, cleaning, etc.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, cord set or plug in water or any other liquids.

Safety of others

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

After use

  • Switch off, remove the plug from the socket and let the appliance cool down before leaving it unattended and before changing, cleaning or inspecting any parts of the appliance.
  • When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry place. Children should not have access to stored appliances.

Inspection and repairs

  • Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation.
  • Do not use the appliance if the rotating sieve or the protecting cover is damaged or has visible cracks.
  • Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorised repair agent.
  • Before use, check the power supply cord for signs of damage, ageing and wear.
  • Do not use the appliance if the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or defective.
  • If the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or defective it must be repaired by an authorised repair agent in order to avoid a hazard. Do not cut the power supply cord and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
  • Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than those specified in this manual.

Additional safety instructions for food processors

Warning! Do not place near a hot Gas or electric oven.

  • Do not Immerse Food Processor, Cord or Plug in any liquid.
  • Allow all moving parts of the appliance to come to a stop before approaching.
    • Always use on a clean work surface and clean the surface thoroughly after use.
  • Allow the appliance to cool before storing.
  • Keep hands, long hair and loose clothing away from the beaters.
    • Always take care when handling the sharp cutting blades when emptying the bowl and during cleaning.

Electrical safety

Before use, check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

This product must be earthed. Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

  • Appliance plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
  • Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (Class 1) appliances. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • This appliance includes a safety switch which prevents operation unless the accessories are securely installed.
  • This appliance incorporates a protective device against high temperatures. If the temperature becomes too high, the unit will turn off automatically and will resume operation when the motor has cooled sufficiently (after about 15 minutes).
  • Do not operate the appliance for more than a minute at a stretch.
  • If operation is not finished within 1 minute, turn off the machine and let it cool for 10 minutes before the next round of operation. If more than 5 rounds of operation are required, cool the machine for 90 minutes to room temperature before the next 5 rounds. This can lengthen lifespan of the machine.

Extension cable & class 1 product

  • A 3 core cable must be used as your appliance is earthed and of class 1 construction.
  • Up to 30m (100 ft) can be used without loss of power.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by

the manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Assembly

BLACK & DECKER FX1050 - Assembly - 1

Warning! Before performing any assembly or maintenance, switch off and remove from power supply.

Use

Warning! Let the appliance work at its own pace. Do not overload.

  • Place the appliance on a flat, steady surface.
  • Ensure that the power cord is unplugged from the power outlet and the speed selector is set to the "0" position.

Chopper assembly

  • Position the driver (7) on the motor base (9).
  • Position the processing bowl (8) onto the driver (7) and turn clockwise to seat firmly on the motor base (9).
  • Place the chopper (17) onto the driver (7).
  • Place the bowl cover (5) onto the bowl (8), turn clockwise until the cover locks on the bowl.
  • Place the pushers (1) & (2) into feeding chute located on the bowl cover.

Note: Always keep the chopper inside the bowl before feeding food.

Use the 'pulse' function several times to avoid cutting too fine. Do not run for too long while cutting hard cheese or chocolate, otherwise these materials will overheat and begin to melt.

Standard chopping period: 30 - 60 sec.

Slicing and shredding blade assembly

  • Position the driver (7) on the motor base (9).
  • Position processing bowl (8) onto the driver (7) and turn clockwise to seat firmly on the motor base (9).
  • Install desired blade (12), (13), (14), (15) or (16) onto the disc holder (6).
  • Place the blade holder (6) onto the driver (7).
  • Place the cover (5) on the bowl (8).
  • Turn the cover (5) clockwise until cover locks on the bowl.
  • Put food into the feeding chute.
  • Use the pusher (1) to push the food down for processing.

Note: Choose the desired blade according to the processed food and desired shape of food.

Push softly when feeding food.

Pre-cut the food into smaller pieces according to the diameter of the feeding tube.

Feed gradually for better effect.

When cutting soft food, choose a lower speed to avoid the food liquifying.

If large quantities of food need to be cut, please cut it for several batches.

Kneading blade assembly

  • Position driver (7) on motor base (9).
  • Position processing bowl (8) onto the driver (7) and turn clockwise to seat firmly on motor base (9).
  • Place kneading blade (21) onto the driver (7).
  • Place the cover (5) onto the bowl (8), turn clockwise until the cover interlocks on the bowl.

- Place pushers (1) & (2) into feeding chute

Note: Always attach kneading blade in the bowl before feeding in ingredients.

Standard kneading period: 20 sec.

Blender assembly

  • Make sure the blender blade and transmission head are fixed tightly to the base of blender jar (20).
  • Put required food into the jar (20).
    • Install blender measuring cup (18) and blender jar cover (19) properly.
  • Put blender jar (20) onto the motor base (9) and rotate the jar clockwise to lock it into place.

Grinder assembly

  • Put the motor base on a flat and dry surface.
  • Turn anticlockwise to remove the grinder base from the grinder cup (22), put required ingredients into the cup, then replace the the grinder base and turn clockwise to secure them firmly.
  • Make sure that the switch is in "0" position.
  • Put the complete grinder assembly onto motor base (9), turn clockwise to secure firmly.
  • Plug in the motor base and use pulse 'P' 1 - 2 times for pre-grinding, then choose '1' or '2' speed for finished grinding.

Cookery tips

  • Refrigerated ingredients, such as butter and eggs, should be at room temperature before processing begins. Set these ingredients out ahead of time.
  • To eliminate the possibility of egg shells in your recipe, break eggs into separate container first, then add to the mixture.
  • Be careful that you only mix/blend mixtures as recommended in your recipe. Fold dry ingredients until they are just combined using the low speed setting.
  • Climatic conditions, seasonal temperature changes, temperature of ingredients and their texture all play a part in the required mixing time and the results achieved.
  • Always start processing at lower speed. Gradually increase to the recommended speed as stated in the recipe.

Cleaning and maintenance

Warning! Before performing any maintenance:

  • Switch off and disconnect from the mains supply.
  • Wait for the appliance to completely cool down.
  • If necessary scrape excess food particles from the tools.

Warning! The motor base must not be immersed in water or other liquid.

  • Wipe over the outside surface of the base with a damp cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth.
  • Wipe any excess food particles from the power cord.
  • Immerse the processing bowl, bowl cover, pusher, blade holder, cutting blades, chopper, kneading blade, emulsifying disc, citrus juicing head and plate and blender assembly in warm soapy water for complete cleaning. Then rinse under running water and wipe dry.

Mains plug replacement

If a new mains plug needs to be fitted:

  • Safely dispose of the old plug.
  • Connect the brown lead to the live terminal in the new plug.
  • Connect the blue lead to the neutral terminal.
  • If the product is class I (earthed), connect the green/yellow lead to the earth terminal

Note! If your product is class II double insulated (only 2 wires in the cord set), no connection is to be made to the earth terminal.

Follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality plugs. Any replacement fuse must be of the same rating as the original fuse supplied with the product.

Warning! The above section on mains plug replacement is for authorized service centre persons.

Protecting the environment

Separate collection. This product must not be disposed of with normal household waste.

Should you find one day that your BLACK+DECKER product needs replacement, or if it is of no further use to you, do not dispose of it with other household waste. Make this product available for separate collection.

- BLACK+DECKER provides a facility for recycling BLACK+DECKER products once they have reached the end of their working life. This service is provided free of charge. To take advantage of this service please return

your product to any authorised repair agent who will collect them on our behalf.
