- Check the hedge for any hidden objects such as wire fencing, etc.
-
Check the connector cable and the line attached to the outside of the machine for damage and wear (brittleness). Use these only if they are in perfect condition.
-
Check to see that the safety guards are attached. Machines without or having damaged safety guards must not be used!
- Perform a visual inspection to see whether the cutting tool is dull or damaged.
- Replace dull or damaged cutting tools.

- Ensure that you have sufficient space while working.
- Keep all body parts away from the blade.
- No persons -- especially children -- animals, or objects should be found in the work area.

Pull out the power plug.
- Do not touch running blades.
- Remove the cause of the blockage.
- Unplug the power plug from the socket.
- Never use the connector cable to pull the plug out of the socket.
- Once the blades are idle, carry the shears by the hand grips (keeping your hands away from the blades).
- Never carry the device by the connector cable.
After use, make sure the device is stored in a way that the blades cannot be touched (blade protection).
Cable

Attention! Electric shock through cable damage
If the cable is cut through or damaged, the safety fuse does not always trip.
- Do not touch the cable before the power plug is pulled out of the socket.
- A damaged cable must be completely replaced. Patching the cable with insulating tape is not permitted.
-
Avoid bodily contact with grounded parts such as metal fences.
-
Repairs to the cable should be performed only by an expert.
- Fasten the connecting cable to the stress relief mechanism. Do not scrape against corners, spikes or sharp objects.
-
Do not squeeze the cable between door jams or through windows.
-
Keep cable away from the cutting area.
- Switchgears must not be removed or bridged.
- Use only extension cable not lighter than rubber hose, type HO 7 RNF, minimum cross section 3 × 1.5 ~mm^2 , length: max. 25 ~m .
- Cables have to be protected against splashing water.
Maintenance

Attention! Reverse blade
Before all maintenance and cleaning work:
Pull out the power plug.
- Do not touch running blades.
- Do not spray off the device with water. Do not use high pressure cleaning or pressurised steam to clean the device.

Note: Residual current protection device
These safeguards provide protection against severe injuries resulting from touching damaged cables, insulation defects and in some cases cables that conduct electricity.
We recommend that the equipment only be plugged into a power socket, which is protected by a residual current protection device (RCD) with a residual current of no more than 30mA .
- Retrofit kits are available for old installations. Consult an electrician

Tips for cutting F G H J
- Please observe the brooding season of the birds!
The ideal hedge cutting form is the trapezoid J, which provides for adequate light and ventilation for all parts of the hedge.
In order to promote thick growth of young hedges, only half of new shoots should be cut. -
If the hedge has already reached the desired height, new shoots can be completely removed.
In order to achieve a steady hedge height you can string up a guide wire at the desired height and cut along this wire.
Cutting seasons: -
Deciduous hedges: May/June and October (cutback to approx. 1/3 of the total height in winter)
- Conifer hedges: April and October
- Conifers: April and October
Maintenance
