Frequently Asked Questions - SFT 77 SANITAS

How to use the SFT 77 thermometer to measure forehead temperature?
Turn on the device by pressing the ON/MEASURE button. Place the measuring head with the forehead cap on the temple, hold the button down and slide the thermometer steadily to the other temple. Release the button: the value appears and a beep sounds if the sound is enabled. The green LED indicates normal temperature, the red indicates fever (≥ 38 °C).
How to measure ear temperature with this thermometer?
Remove the forehead cap. For children under one year, gently pull the ear backward; for older children, pull it upward and backward. Insert the sensor tip into the ear canal and press ON/MEASURE for 1 second. The measurement is displayed. Clean the tip after each use.
How to measure object temperature with the SFT 77?
Turn on the device, then press and hold the M and S buttons for 3 seconds to switch to object mode. Point the sensor 3 cm from the object and press ON/MEASURE. The surface temperature is displayed. To exit this mode, press and hold M and S again for 3 seconds.
What to do if the screen shows 'Err'?
The 'Err' message means the ambient temperature is outside the allowed range (15 °C to 40 °C). Place the thermometer in a room at ambient temperature for at least 30 minutes before trying again.
How to replace the batteries of the Sanitas SFT 77?
Open the battery compartment on the back by sliding the cover downwards. Insert two AAA 1.5 V batteries (LR03) observing polarity (+/-). Close the cover. When the battery symbol flashes, replace the batteries promptly.
How to clean the thermometer after use?
Clean the sensor tip and forehead cap with a soft cloth moistened with disinfectant, alcohol or hot water. For the housing, use a slightly damp soft cloth with mild detergent. Do not use harsh chemicals and never immerse the device in water.
How to view the measurement history?
Turn on the device, then press the M button. The last measurement is displayed. Press M again to scroll through the last 30 measurements. The device automatically turns off after 60 seconds.
What is the difference between ear and forehead modes?
Ear mode measures temperature in the ear canal, while forehead mode measures temperature on the forehead. Normal ranges differ: ear between 36.0 °C and 37.8 °C, forehead between 35.8 °C and 37.6 °C. Always use the same mode for consistent monitoring.
Is the thermometer waterproof?
No, it is not waterproof. Avoid direct contact with water or other liquids. Clean it with a damp cloth but do not immerse it. The IP22 protection rating only protects against dripping water when the housing is not tilted more than 15°.
How to enable or disable the audible beep?
When the device is on, briefly press the S button. The speaker symbol appears to indicate the beep is enabled. Press again to disable it. The beep sounds during key presses and at the end of a measurement.

NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.

Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations from radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast can not be predicted theoretic call with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer should be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as reorienting or relocating the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer.

Over the frequency range 150kHz to 80MHz , field strengths should be less than [V1] V/m.

Table 4 Recommended separation distances between portable and mobile RF communications equipment and the EQUIPMENT or SYSTEM-for EQUIPMENT and SYSTEMS that are not LIFE-SUPPORTING

Recommended separation distances between portable and mobile RF communications equipment and the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer
The SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF distances are controlled. The customer or the user of the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters) and the SFT77 Multi-function Thermometer as recommended below according to the maximum output power of the communications equipment.
Rated maximum output power of transmitter(W)Separation distance according to frequency of transmitter(m)
150 kHz to 80 MHzd=1.2√P80 MHz to 800 MHzd=1.2√P800 MHz to 2.5 GHzd=2.3√P

1 1.2 1.2 2.3
10 3.8 3.8 7.3
100 12 12 23
For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distanced in meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the maximum output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.NOTE 1 At 8- MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency range applies.NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
