Bialetti Industrie S.p.A. declines all liability for consequences arising from an improper use. Read and follow instructions for use thoroughly before using the appliance. Keep the instructions close to the appliance for any future reference and hand it over to any subsequent user. Declaration of conformity The manufacturer declares under his own responsibility that the appliance that this “Instruction manual” refers to complies with the EC Directive on appliances for domestic use. Furthermore, the manufacturer declares that it complies with the prescriptions for the limitation of radio-electric distur- bance. Failure to comply with the warnings indi-cated by the words “danger”, “warnings” and “cautions” below may cause severe injury, even lethal, as well as fi res, explosions and/or property dam- age. This appliance is intended for household use or similar, as: Kitchen areas in shops, o ces and other working places farmhouses bed and break- fasts and similar structures hotels, motels and other residential environments (for customer’s use only). Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Never place the appliance or its parts in wa- ter. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.EN
If the electrical cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by an autho- rized customer service centre since special- ized tools are necessary. Do not touch the appliance hot parts imme- diately after use. Burn hazard. Allow the appliance to cool before touching it, moving it or carrying out maintenance operations. Improper use may cause injury. Do not leave the appliance unattended while operating. Do not open kettle lid (1) while water is boil- ing. Never use the appliance when kettle is empty. Connect the kettle (9) to the supplied power base (8). Do not place the hot kettle directly on surfaces sensitive to high tem- peratures. Store it preferably onto its base (8). Only for household use. This appliance must only be used for the purpose for which it was expressly de- signed, that it to say warm water up.
- The appliance was designed only for indoor use and non-extreme tem-perature conditions; do not leave it exposed to the elements (rain, sun, etc.).• Do not use the appliance to keep and heat up drinks or other kinds of food.
- The manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the warranty will not apply for any commercial use, inappropriate handling or use of the ap- pliance, any damage resulting from use for other purposes, faulty oper- ations, non-professional repair or failure to comply with the instructions.
- After removing the packaging, and before use, make sure the appliance and all the attachments are working well. The electrical plug and sheath should not be cracked or broken. If the conditions described above oc- cur, immediately unplug the appliance from mains outlet and take it to an authorized After-Sales Service Centre for necessary checking.
- The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, nails, etc.) should be kept away from children since they are potential sources of danger.
- Put the appliance on a fl at, smooth and stable surface. Do not put it close to/on hot surfaces as heaters, cooking hobs, fl ames and similar; furthermore, avoid the contact with easily fl ammable objects, as cur- tains, cloths, paper, etc.
- Before connecting the appliance, make sure the line voltage is correct. The tag is located on the bottom of the appliance body.
- If the plug does not fi t into the wall outlet, have the wall outlet replaced with another type by a qualifi ed electrician. He/she must also check that the cord is suitable for the power absorbed by the appliance. In general, it is not advisable to use an adaptor, multiple sockets, or an extension cord. If they are necessary, use only simple or multiple adaptors and extension cords that conform to safety regulations, being careful not to exceed the load limits indicated on the adaptor and the extension cord, and the maximum power indicated on the multiple adaptor.
- Do not leave the appliance connected when not in use. Remove the plug from the mains outlet when the appliance is not used. It is recommended to power the appliance through a residual current device (rcd) with a max. operating current of 30 mA. Connect the appliance to the power mains through an earthed sock- et. Avoid unplugging the appliance by pulling the power cord. While in use, the power socket must be easily reachable in case it is necessary to unplug the appliance.
- Do not touch the appliance with wet or damp hands.
- Do not use the appliance with bare feet.
- Do not pull on the electrical cord or the appliance to disconnect the plug from the mains outlet.
- Do not put the wire close to sharped edges, do not fi x it and do not leave it hang.
- To avoid dangerous overheating, it is recommended that you unwind the electrical cord to its entire length and that you use the appliance as recommended in “Warnings” related to a correct use of the appliance.
- Before performing any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect the appliance from the mains outlet by unplugging it or by deactivating the electrical switch.
- Repairs must only be carried out by an after-sales centre authorized by the manufacturer. Always insist of genuine spare parts. Non-compliance with what has been stated above could compromise the safety of the appliance.
- If you decide not to use the appliance of this type anymore, it is recom- mended that you make it inoperable by cutting o the mains cord after removing the plug from the mains outlet. You should also render harm- less those parts of the appliance that could be dangerous, especially for children who might use an abandoned appliance as a toy. The installation must be performed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Incorrect installation could cause damage to person, an- imals and things, for which the manufacturer cannot be held respon- sible.
- Do not move the appliance whilst operating.
- In case of prolonged absences, turn the appliance o and disconnect the plug from the electric socket.
- Make sure the appliance is unplugged before cleaning operations.EN

POSITIONING AND STARTINGFollow the following precautions when positioning the appliance:• Put the appliance on a horizontal surface.• Put the appliance so that it is protected against overheating.• Plug the power cord into the power socket. Warnings: Electric shock hazard in case of use of the appliance with damaged power cord. Nev- er start the appliance with damaged power cord. Warnings: Never start the appliance with damaged power cord. Attention! Burn hazard. The kettle support heats up during functioning. Do not touch the kettle surface. When using the appliance for the fi rst time, rinse the kettle (9), then boil clean water three/four times continuously. Empty the kettle (9) and make sure it is clean.
- Unroll the whole power cord (7) before connecting the appliance to the electric power source (Fig. E).• Open the lid (1) by pressing the opening button (2) - Fig. C.• Fill kettle (9) as required.• For a proper functioning, make sure water amount inside the kettle (9) is never below the minimum level (0.5 L) or above the maximum one (1.7 L), as shown on the level graduated indicator (10), Fig. B. Attention! Burn hazard. In case the kettle (9) is over- fi lled, hot water may come out.
- Close lid (1) by pressing it down until it locks.EN
Attention! Burn hazard. A wrong lid closure (1) may cause water or steam leakages as well as an irregular functioning of the water tempera- ture sensor.
- Put the kettle (9) onto power base (8), ensuring that both are perfectly fl at, then plug the appliance in.
- Press down the on/o switch (3), Fig. A, positioning it to “I” (ON). The inner blue service light (4) goes on.
- After the boiling cycle, the appliance turns o by itself.
- By lifting the kettle (9) from the base (8), the power supply stops.
- Move the on/o switch (3) to “0” (OFF) to interrupt appliance function before water boils. Attention! Carry out the fi lling/emptying operations of water with the boiler removed from its power base. DIRT FILTER The appliance is equipped with a removable fi lter (5), close to the kettle spout, which facilitates impurity retention. To extract the fi lter, proceed as follows:
- Open the lid (1) by pressing the opening button (2), Fig. C.
- Remove the fi lter (5) upwards (Fig. D).
- To position the fi lter (5) back, proceed in the inverse way compared to removal (fi g. D).
STORING THE APPLIANCE AFTER EACH USE
- After use, when the appliance is unplugged, it is possible to reel the power cord on the bottom of the power base (8) by letting the cord pass through the proper slot (6) to lock it (Fig. A).EN
Attention! Burn hazard. Before cleaning, always dis- connect the plug from the electrical sock- et and wait for the appliance to cool com- pletely. For the external cleaning of the kettle (9) and the power base (8), clean with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive detergents.DECALCIFICATIONLimescale may deposit on the stainless steel plate inside the kettle (9) owing to use. Maintenance on a regular basis permits a proper functioning of the appliance.For cleaning, use kettle anti-limescale detergents availableon the market.• Pour the anti-limescale detergent into the kettle by following instruc-tions of the detergent itself.• Empty the kettle (9), rinse it with plenty of water and, when it is com-pletely cooled, wipe it.• In case of other limescale residues, repeat cleaning procedure. The intervention frequency depends especially on heated water hard- ness.EN
The appliance is guaranteed for two years from the date of delivery, as shown by the date on the receipt/invoice, unless the purchaser can prove that delivery took place on a later date. In case of defects on the product existing prior to delivery, Bialetti guaran- tees the repair or replacement of same, at no charge to the purchaser, unless one of the two remedies is disproportionate to the other. The purchaser is responsible for reporting any conformity defects no later than two months from discovery of same. The warranty does not cover those parts found to be faulty as a result of negligence or careless use, for example:
- Damages caused by impacts, falls or scratches owing to the use of im- proper objects.
- Damages caused by limestone or failure to decalcify it on a regular ba- sis.
- Failure to abide by the operating instructions for the appliance.
- Incorrect installation or maintenance carried out by unauthorised per- sons.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Damages caused by modifi cations made to the inside of the appliance.
- Damages caused through use of a voltage other than that stated in the use and maintenance manual.
- Damages from transport or circumstances that cannot be attributed to defects in the material or workmanship of the appliance.
- Damages arising from repairing carried out by unauthorized service centres. The warranty also excludes all cases of improper use of the appliance or any instances of professional use. Bialetti refuses to accept any liability for damage that may directly or indi- rectly be caused to people, property or pets as a result of failure to abide by all of the guidelines and instructions in this booklet concerning the installa- tion, use and maintenance of the appliance. This warranty is without prejudice to contractual guarantees made to the retailer.EN
7. Disposal of the appliance
- This product complies with the Directive 2012/19/EU.
- The symbol representing the crossed out trash can on the appliance indicates that the product, at the end of its useful life, must be treated separately from domestic waste. It must be taken to a recycling centre for electrical and electronic appliances or turned in to the point of sale when purchasing a new, equivalent, appliance.
- The user is responsible for taking the appliance to the recycling centre at the end of its life, under penalty of the sanctions foreseen by the cur- rent legislation on waste handling.
- Correct consignment of the no-longer used appliance to a recycling centre for treatment and environmentally compatible elimination con- tributes to avoiding a negative impact on the environment and public health, and permits recycling of the materials from which the product is made.
- For more detailed information regarding the available collection sys- tems, contract the local refuse centre or the store where the product was purchased.
- The manufacturer and the importers comply with their responsibility for recycling, treating, and environmentally compatible disposal of waste both directly and in a collective system. The manufacturer reserves the right to make changes for regulatory, industrial, commercial or aesthetic reasons.EN
8. Problems/causes/solutions
