IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please read through this user manual thoroughly before using your Solis Ultra X-Press, so that you become familiar with your appliance and can use it safely. We thoroughly recommend that you keep these instructions and, if you pass the appliance on, that you also hand these instructions to the new owner.

For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using elec trical appliances:

  1. To prevent electric shock, neither the motor base nor the power cord or plug must come into contact with water or other liquids. Water can enter the housing and damage the appliance! Should the motor base respond, the power cord or plug come into contact with liquids, use dry rubber gloves to pull the power plug from the socket.
  2. Do not operate or unplug the appliance with wet or moist hands or feet. Danger of electric shock!
  3. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the appliance matches your mains voltage.
  4. Place the appliance while in function on a solid, stable, clean, dry and moisture resistant surface, like a table or a worktop. Vibration during operation may cause the appliance to move. Therefore do not place the blender near the edge of a bench, a table or a sink during operation, it has to be placed at least 10cm away from the edge of the working top. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  5. Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges so that it can be pulled. Make sure that it does not come into contact with hot surfaces, such as hotplates or a radiator, or that it comes into contact with the appliance. Fully unwind the cord before use.
  6. Keep the appliance away from hot gas, hot ovens and other heat-emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface. Never place the appliance near

moisture, heat and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from moving parts or appliances.

  1. Never carry the appliance by the power cable and do not place it on the power cable. Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the appliance from the power mains.
  2. We recommend that you do not use an extension cable with this appliance. Do not place the appliance directly underneath a power socket.
  3. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or unattended and before cleaning. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.
  4. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, cable, plug or accessories.
  5. Do not leave the blender unattended when in use. Incorrect use may cause injury!
  6. Never take hold of an appliance that has fallen into water. Always take the plug out of the power socket before removing the appliance from the water. Do not use the appliance again until you have had it's ability to function safely checked by Solis or a Solis approved service centre.
  7. Never place the blender in a place where it could fall into water (e.g. next to a sink).
  8. Never use the appliance on a moist or wet work surface. Risk of electric shock!
  9. Place the appliance so that it is never exposed to direct sunlight.
  10. Never put sharp or pointed objects and tools into the appliance openings; never insert metal objects or kitchen utensils into the blender jug or handle them in the blender jug or near the motor base. The appliance may become damaged - danger of electric shock!

  11. Do not shake or relocate the appliance while it is in operation.

  12. Only use the appliance as described in this manual to blend and puree foods. Never place anything else than foods in the blender jug. Only use accessories included in the delivery or recommended by Solis, improper accessories can cause damage to the appliance resp. fire, electric shock and personal damage.
  13. This appliance is only for domestic use and is not suitable for commercial use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats.
  14. Check your blender before every use.
  15. In order to avoid electric shock, do not use the appliance if the cable or plug are damaged or the appliance is otherwise faulty, dropped or damaged. Never attempt repairs yourself, but take your appliance to Solis or a Solis approved service centre in order to get it inspected or mechanically and electrically repaired.
  16. People with limited physical, sensorial or mental capabilities as well as unknowing or inexperienced people incl. children must not use the blender except when supervised or thoroughly instructed on how to use the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Additionally, they must be aware of the dangers arising from the appliance and know how to operate it safely. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance must not be done by unsupervised children. Under no circumstances must the appliance be used or cleaned by children under 8 years of age.
  17. Always keep the appliance and power cord out of the reach of children.
  18. Children must not clean the appliance except when supervised by a grown-up person responsible for their safety.
  19. Children must be supervised to prevent them from playing with the blender.

  20. Always pull the plug from the socket if the appliance is unsupervised resp. before assembling or disassembling resp. cleaning the appliance.

  21. The appliance is equipped with an overheat protection.
  22. Keep a minimum distance of 20~cm between the appliance and walls, curtains, textiles or other inflammable objects. Never cover the appliance while it is in use.
  23. Make sure that the Solis Ultra X-Press is correctly assembled before using it. How to do this exactly you can learn on page 103 of this manual.
  24. Only use the included blender jug and jug lid resp. the smaller blender jug (available as an accessory). Improper accessories can cause electric shock and fire or personal damage!
  25. Always make sure that the jug lid is firmly mounted to the blender jug before starting the blender. Otherwise, the contents of the jug might splash out. Also, the lid seal cap in the jug lid has to be screwed shut. Small amounts of ingredients can be added through the cap opening while blending. The lid, however, must never be removed for as long as the power plug is plugged in.
  26. Before moving, disassembling or cleaning the appliance, always switch the blender off. Wait for the motor and the blades to come to a full stop and the ventilator has switched off, only then pull the plug from the socket. This also applies when the appliance is not in use.
  27. Fill the jug not above the MAX marking, otherwise the motor might be overloaded resp. the blending performance might be impaired. Also, the blended foods might escape. Remember that some foods increase in volume through blending.

  28. Should foods cake around the blades, switch the blender off and pull the plug. Make sure the motor and blades have completely stopped and the ventilator has switched off, before removing the jug from the motor base. Use a plastic spatula to break up resp. stir the foods around the blades before proceeding to blend. Do not use fingers as the blades are sharp!

  29. Never use the appliance if the blades are damaged or something other than food is in the blender jug.
  30. Once the power plug has been connected to the power outlet, you must not reach into the blender jug resp. touch the blades.
  31. Keep hands, fingers, hair, clothing, jewelry and kitchen utensils well away from the blender jug when the appliance is switched on! Risk of injury! The included tamper can be used carefully, provided that the lid is fastened to the jug and only the cap is removed.
  32. Only if the plug is pulled and the jug is removed, you can reach into the blender jug with your fingers, hands or kitchen utensils! Even then, exercise extreme caution, as the blades also are very sharp when standing still. Avoid touching the moving parts of the blender!
  33. Be careful when handling the jug as the blades are very sharp. Be careful when emptying the blender jug and during cleaning. Mishandling of the blades may cause injury.
  34. Never remove blender jug from the motor base while the appliance is switched on and in use!
  35. Never operate the appliance with a timer switch or a remote control. This will prevent the appliance from switching on automatically or accidentally, e.g. after the motor overload protection has been triggered.
  36. Only use the Solis Ultra X-Press to prepare foods and/or beverages.
  37. Never use the blender without foods or liquids in the blender jug.

  38. If you have selected the soup program, the friction of the blades might warm up the contents. The potentially developing pressure can escape through the air outlets in the cap. Please be careful when touching the lid or the blender jug, as it might get hot. The coupling screw on the outside of the bottom of the blender jug gets very hot after prolonged blending, too! Please be careful not to touch the bottom of the blender jug when lifting off the blender jug!

  39. Always be careful when pouring very warm liquids into the blender jug. The liquid could spill out of the jug and burn you!
  40. When blending very warm liquids, ensure that the cap is properly inserted into the fastened lid. The cap, inserted in the lid, ensures that nothing can squirt out and acts as a valve to reduce internal pressure and steam generation.
  41. When removing the cap after blending, be careful! Steam bubbles might have formed and could splash out of the jug after opening.
  42. Do not expose the blender jug to extreme temperature changes. For example, do not place a cold blender jug in hot water and vice versa.
  43. Do not place any parts of the blender in the microwave!
  44. Keep the appliance clean. Always switch the appliance off and pull the plug before cleaning and storing the appliance. Refer to „Care and cleaning" instructions on page 108 in this manual. Never submerge the motor base in water and do not clean any of the motor base parts with a wet or very moist towel.
  45. Remove all packaging materials, package leaflets and stickers and rinse the lid with the seal cap as well as the blender jug with the blade base in warm dishwater with a soft dish rag before using the appliance for the first time. Please refer to the section "Before first use" on page 102 of this manual.

Caution: The blender blades are extremely sharp, avoid any contact with your fingers resp. with your hand!

  1. Never lift the blender jug off the motor base while the motor is running. Always switch off the appliance fi rst and wait for the motor and the blades to come to a complete standstill and until the ventilator has switched off. Only then remove the blender jug.
  2. When mounting the blender jug on the motor base, the blender jug should gently slide over the four rubber knobs. Under no circumstances press it onto the motor base in a forceful or violent manner, as this might damage parts of the coupling. If the blender jug is not properly placed on the motor base, it might fall down once you switch the appliance on.
  3. Always remove the blender jug from the motor base when the appliance is not in use.

THE FUNCTIONS OF YOUR SOLIS ULTRA X-PRESS BLENDER

You can choose from 5 automatic programs, 8 speed settings, one Pulse function and a time function +20 seconds. The function is activated by briefly touching the corresponding sensor button, the according program lights up in the control panel resp. all other selectable functions, which can be chosen additionally to this program, light up. Once a program is completed, a signal sounds five times and the appliance switches off automatically. Only the Pulse button has to be held for as long as the Pulse function should be active. Once the Pulse button is no longer touched, the Pulse function stops. No signal sounds after the Pulse function is ended.

ON/OFF button

With the ON/OFF button, you can switch the appliance on and off.
- When the symbol constantly lights up, the appliance is in standby mode.
- When the symbol flashes, the appliance is in operation mode and one of the functions can be selected and started.
- With the ON/OFF button, you can stop the appliance at any time, regardless of the function currently activated.

Pulse button

The Pulse function can be activated by touching the Pulse button. The Pulse function is activated for as long as you touch the Pulse button. The blender blends at short intervals with high revolutions per minutes. The time display indicates for how many seconds the Pulse function has been active. Please note that the maximum time for using the Pulse function without interruption is 30 seconds.

  • While the Pulse function is switched on, the ON/OFF button flashes while all other buttons on the control panels are out, indicating that they can not be used simultaneously. When you release the Pulse button, all other buttons light up again, the ON/OFF button flashes and the display goes back to stating 0:00.

Notes:

The Pulse function can only be activated when no other program has been activated and should be used in short intervals.

No signals sound upon termination of the Pulse function.

We recommend not activating the Pulse function for too long.

The Pulse function is ideal for all foods that have to be shredded and processed with powerful blending intervals. The Pulse function additionally rotates the foods in the jug. Furthermore, the Pulse function is extremely well suited to crushing ice cubes.

Button for increasing operation time by 20 seconds

  • The button increases every programmed time by 20 seconds. It can be activated for the automatic programs as well as for the manual setting via the speed buttons. The only function with which it can not be used is the Pulse function.

  • By each press of the button during a program, the blending time is increased by 20 seconds. These 20 seconds are added to the current time in the display. You can touch the button multiple times in a row, each touch adds 20 seconds of blending time. Like this, you can increase the blending time by a maximum of 10 minutes.

Notes: The button only affects blending time, not blending speed.

The button can not be activated at the same time as the Pulse function.

MANUAL SETTING WITH THE SPEED BUTTONS (8 SETTINGS)

If you do not wish to use one of the automatic programs, you can use these 8 speed buttons to manually set a speed, from low to very high.
The speed is lowest for the button all the way to the left and highest for the button all the way to the right. The 6 buttons in-between continually increase the speed.
Always start the manual setting at the lowest speed and then increase the speed step-by-step, until you reach the desired intensity.
- If you want to increase or decrease the speed during the blending process, you can do this at any time by touching another button or again adjust the speed step-by-step. The light corresponding to the set speed lights up brighter.
- The pre-programmed time for any speed is 1 minute. If you want to extend blending time, you can increase it by 20 seconds at a time by touching the button.

Note: In the automatic programs, the speed is pre-programmed and can not by manually adjusted with the 8 speed buttons.

Soup program

With this program, you can make a number of creamy soups from pre-boiled and even hot vegetables and other ingredients. The pre-programmed blending time is 6 minutes.

Note: If you have selected the soup program, the friction of the blades might warm up the contents.

NOTES FOR THE 5 AUTOMATIC PROGRAMS

  • In all 5 automatic programs, only the blending time can be increased with the button. The blending speed can not be influenced. This is the reason why the speed bar does not light up while an automatic program is activated.
  • You can pause every automatic program by touching the corresponding program button, e.g. to add ingredients through the lid opening. The time in the display is stopped and "PAUS" is displayed. Once you touch the program button again, the program is resumed and the time continues to count down.
  • Should you wish to completely cancel the automatic program while the program is running, you can touch the ON/OFF button at any time.
We strongly advise against pressing the button again after a program has finished, with the time standing at 0:00. This should always be done before a program finishes. If you want to restart the appliance even though the display already states 0:00, you should pull the power plug, lift the blender jug off of the motor base, place the blender jug back on the motor base after a few seconds, reconnect the power plug after and restart the appliance.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Before using your Solis Ultra X-Press for the first time, please remove all packaging and advertising materials as well as stickers. Do not plug the power plug into the power outlet yet. Clean the lid including the cap seal and the blender jug as well as the blade base in warm dishwasher with a soft dish rag. Rinse everything carefully with clear water and dry everything. The blender jug and the lid can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Please make sure that the lid has been removed before placing the jug in the dishwasher. The motor base must not be placed in the dishwasher, it should be cleaned with a soft, only slightly moist towel and then be dried.

The blending blades are extremely sharp. Avoid any contact with your fingers resp. your hand!

Note: When using your blender for the first time, the factory-fresh motor might cause a light smell. This is normal and wears off after a short time.

STARTING UP

After getting comfortable with the functions of your Solis high speed blender, you can now start using the appliance.
1. Place the motor base on a dry, moisture resistant, even and stable work surface, at least 10 cm away from a table edge.
2. Fill the blender jug with the food, paying attention to the MAX marking on the jug. A maximum of 2 litres of food can be blended. Please keep in mind that some foods might increase in volume through blending.
3. Place the lid on the blender jug and push it all the way down, so that the blender jug is fully sealed all around. Place the seal cap on the lid, guiding the noses of the cap into the notch by the symbol "open lock" on the lid, then screw the cap clockwise all the way in.
4. Place the blender jug on the motor base, it should smoothly glide over the four rubber knobs and sit on the motor base evenly.
5. Plug the power plug into a suitable power outlet. Shortly afterwards, the symbol at the ON/OFF button lights up.
6. Touch the ON/OFF button it starts flashing and all function buttons light up.

Attention: Place a hand on the lid when the blending process starts to prevent it from loosening, especially if the jug is well filled or filled with hard foods. You can let go of the lid once the foods are chopped.

  1. Choose a program (one of the 5 automatic programs or a manual speed setting) by touching the corresponding button. If you have chosen the manual speed setting, start with the button and gradually increase the speed until you reach the desired intensity.
  2. The selected program starts up, operation time is counted down in the display.
  3. If you wish to increase blending time, press the button, even multiple times if desired. The time is added in the display.
  4. When the set program is finished, the appliance automatically switches off. The motor ventilator built into the appliance will keep running for some seconds after the appliance is switched off. It is therefore possible that a ventilation sound can be heard even after switching off. The ventilator switches off automatically after a short period of time.
  5. Only then pull the plug from the socket with dry hands and remove the blender jug. To remove, pull the blender jug upwards without turning it. Only remove the blender jug after the power plug has been pulled and the blades has come to a complete standstill.

  6. Empty the blender jug and clean the blender jug with the blade base and lid as well as the cap as soon as possible to prevent the food from drying.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES DURING USE

  • If you want to use the tamper to push the foods in the blender jug down towards the blade base, you must only do this when the lid is in place through the opening in the lid. Of course, to do so, the cap has to be removed beforehand.

Note: The tamper can only be used in the 2-litre-jug. While using the tamper, an interruption of the blending process is not necessary.

Solis Ultra Xpress 8326 - IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES DURING USE - 1

Solis Ultra Xpress 8326 - IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES DURING USE - 2

Only use the appliance while the lid is shut. If you want to add liquid or food through the opening in the lid, do it slowly to prevent the jug contents from splashing out. Caution: Never remove the lid during blending to add food! When doing this, the appliance has to be switched off and the plug has to be pulled first. After that, lift off the blender jug, add the food and only then place the closed blender jug back on the motor base and start using it again.
Always respect the MAX marking on the blender jug and do not blend too many solid or hard foods in one blending cycle, as this might cause the motor overload resp. overheat protection to switch off the motor.
- Place a hand on the lid if the jug should be filled in such a way that the contents reach almost or exactly up to the MAX marking.
- When taking the blender jug off of the motor base, the appliance automatically switches off through the safety switch on the motor base. All settings are deleted. In this case, place the blender jug back on the motor base and make the settings again.

  • If possible, always touch the function buttons in the center to avoid touching two buttons at once. If two or more buttons are touched, the appliance automatically switches off and „ERR“ shows up in the display. In this case, pull the power plug, reconnect it and restart the appliance.
Always unplug the blender while it is not in use or before it is disassembled, cleaned or stored away.

OVERLOAD AND OVERHEAT PROTECTION

Warning:

To protect the motor, please refrain from using the appliance any longer once the automatic overload and overheat protection has been triggered and "ERR" is displayed.

In this case, switch the appliance off, pull the power plug and remove the blender jug. Wait 20 minutes to let the appliance cool down. After these 20 minutes, you can replace the blender jug on the motor base. Then, plug the power plug back into the power outlet and restart the appliance.

If the motor has cooled down enough, your appliance will restart and you can keep using the blender as described in this manual.

The motor can overload if the blender jug has been too heavily filled or if it has blended for too long. In this case, reduce the amount of ingredients or repeatedly pause during blending to allow the motor to cool down in order to prevent overheating.

Complying to the MAX marking reduces the risk of overloading the motor. However, especially hard foods might still cause an overload. If you notice the motor stalling or running slowly, only blend for 10 seconds at a time or reduce the amount of ingredients. Also, adding liquids might loosen up a tough mixture.

TIPS FOR PERFECT BLENDING

  • Never exceed the MAX marking when filling the blender jug with foods and liquids.
  • Be careful when blending large amounts or liquids – the mixture might spill out through the cap opening in the lid of the jug.

Note: Do not fill the blender jug above the MAX marking! Should the jug be filled in such a way that the contents reach almost or exactly up to the MAX marking, place a hand on the lid to prevent it from spilling during use.

  • Should the volume be under the MAX marking during operation, the cap in the lid can be removed so that oil or other liquids can be added. The lid itself must never be removed from the jug during the blending process.
  • The blender should only be used until foods or mixing program are ready and form the perfect final products. Do not blend foods longer than necessary.
  • Use the Pulse function when the foods are too thick or coarse to circulate in the blender jug.
  • Ingredients might stick the side of the jug. To move the foods back towards the blades, turn the blender off and pull the plug. Wait for the blades to come to a full stop and the ventilator to be turned off. Remove first the jug from the motor base and then the lid. Push the foods downwards with a plastic spatula, pushing from the side of the jug towards the blades. After that, firmly place the lid back on the jug, place the jug on the motor base, connect the plug, activate the appliance and continue blending.
  • If you want to use the tamper to push the foods in the blender jug down towards the blade base, you should only do this when the lid is in place through the opening in the lid. Of course, to do so, the cap has to be removed beforehand.
  • Should you notice moisture or liquid on the upper part of the motor base during blending, immediately switch the appliance off. Wait for the ventilator to stop and pull the plug. Lift the blender jug off and immediately wipe the motor base dry with a dry cloth or kitchen towel.
  • Use the Pulse function for foods that require individual, powerful bursts of blending, e.g. when chopping nuts or crushing ice cubes.
  • Your blender can crush a maximum of 12 - 14 standard tray ice cubes in the 2-litres blender jug. Use the Pulse function.
  • When preparing drinks with ice cubes or frozen fruit, you should engage the Pulse function multiple times.

  • Alternating between Pulse function and another manual speed setting will deliver optimal results when blending and chopping foods.

  • Thicker mixtures will be mashed up more efficiently if the blender jug is only quarter- or half-full resp. when using the small blender jug with lid (available as an accessory, see page 101).
  • Never use metal kitchen utensils or tools, they might damage or scratch the blades and the blender jug.
This blender is not suited to kneading dough or pureeing resp. mashing potatoes.

CARE AND CLEANING

BLENDER JUG WITH BLADE BASE, LID AND CAP

For safety reasons, the power plug has to be pulled after every use and before cleaning the appliance. To prevent the foods from drying around the blades, the blender jug or lid after preparation, we recommend proceeding as follows after every use:

  • Rinse the blender jug with blade base, the lid and the cap with water to remove most of the food remains.
  • Pour 700 ml of warm water into the blender jug, place the lid including the cap on the jug and place it on the motor base. Plug the power plug in a power outlet. Engage the Pulse function multiple times. Should the foods persistently stick on, add a little dishwashing liquid.

After that, rinse the blender jug, the lid and the cap again with warm water or clean everything in warm dishwater with a soft towel or a bottle brush.

Make sure to rinse all dishwashing liquid remains out of the jug with clear water.

CLEANING IN THE DISHWASHER

  • To remove these, fill the jug with warm dishwater and let it sit for a maximum of 5 minutes. After that, clean the jug by hand with a mild dishwashing liquid and warm water. After that, carefully rinse with clear water and dry. It is vital that the jug is stored with an open lid.
