USER MANUAL Perfect Blender Pro Slim 8327 Solis

Please read through this user manual thoroughly before using your Solis Perfect Blender Slim, so that you become familiar with your appliance and can use it safely. We thoroughly recommend that you keep these instructions and, if you pass the appliance on, that you also hand these instructions to the new owner.

For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using electrical appliances:

1. To prevent electric shock, neither the motor unit nor the power cord and the power plug must come into contact with water or other liquids. Risk of electric shock! Water might get into the casing and damage the appliance! Should the motor unit resp. the power cord or the power plug come into contact with liquid, use dry rubber gloves to immediately pull the power plug from the socket. Do not start using it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis.
2. Do not operate the appliance resp. pull or connect the plug with wet or moist hands or feet.
3. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the type plate of your appliance matches your mains voltage. We do not recommend operating the appliance with a multiway plug adapter.
4. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, cable, plug or accessories.

5. Use the appliance only as described in this manual for blending and stirring liquids and foods. Do not use the appliance outdoors and protect it from moisture and wetness.

6. Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges to prevent the appliance from being pulled down. Make sure that neither the appliance nor the power cord or the plug come into contact with hot surfaces like e.g. a stove top or a heater.

7. Install the power cord so that nobody can trip over it. Keep clear of pointed objects.
8. Always fully unwind the power cord before connecting the power plug to the power socket.
9. Never carry the appliance by the power cord and do not place anything on the power cord. Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the appliance from the power mains. Only pull on the plug.
10. We recommend that you do not use an extension cable with this appliance. Do not place the appliance directly underneath a power socket.
11. Keep the appliance away from hot gas, hot ovens and other heat-emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface. Never place the appliance near moisture, heat and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from moving parts or appliances.
12. The appliance has to be placed on a solid, level, dry, stable and moisture resistant work surface. The appliance might vibrate and shift during use. Therefore, never operate the blender near the edge of table.
13. Never use the appliance in a cupboard or store it in a cupboard while the power plug is plugged in. Risk of fire!

14. Keep a minimum safety distance of 20cm between the appliance and walls, curtains or other materials and objects and make sure that the air around the appliance can circulate freely.

15. Never cover the appliance with cloths or the like while it is in use. The air inlet and outlet openings must never be obstructed. Do not place anything on the blender.

16. Never place the appliance in such a way that it might fall into water or come into contact with water or another liquid (e.g. in or next to a sink).
17. The appliance is not designed for outdoor use. The appliance must not come into contact with rain. Do not use in vehicles or on boats.
18. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or unattended, and before cleaning. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.
19. Before pulling the power plug of the appliance out of the power socket, always make sure that the appliance is not in use.
20. Never leave the blender unattended during use. Incorrect use may cause injury!
21. Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into water or other liquids. Always use dry rubber gloves to pull the plug before taking it out. Do not start using it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis.
22. Place the appliance so that it is never exposed to direct sunlight.
23. Never insert any objects or tool into appliance openings. The appliance may become damaged - danger of electric shock!

24. Always pull the power plug before attaching or removing parts.

25. Never operate the appliance without liquids or foods.

26. Always make sure that the appliance is correctly assembled before connecting it to a power socket and starting to use it. The blade base has to be correctly screwed onto the jug/ container and the drive screw at the bottom of the blade base has to be properly connected to the clutch of the motor unit. Should this not be possible, take the jug/container off, carefully shake its contents and try again.

Caution: The drive screw and the clutch are very hot after blending. Do not touch!

1. Do not shake or move the appliance while it is in use. Never move the appliance if it is filled with foods and in operation. You should pull the power plug and empty out the blender jug/blender container before moving the appliance.
2. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. Use only the included blender jug, lid and measuring cup resp. mixing container with the blade base. Only use with the provided accessories or accessories recommended by Solis, incorrect accessories or misuse can lead to damage of the appliance, fire, electric shock or personal damage.
3. Never use the appliance with an external timer switch or remote control.
4. The appliance is only suited for household use and not for commercial use.
5. Remove and discard all packaging materials and potential stickers or labels (except for the type plate) before using the appliance for the first time.

6. Check your blender before every use to make sure that the appliance itself, the power cord and the power plug are without damage and no parts have come loose.

7. To prevent electric shock, do not use the appliance if cord or power plug are damaged or if the appliance has other faults, has fallen down resp. is damaged in any other way or if parts have come loose. Never attempt repairs yourself but take the appliance to Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis in order to get it inspected, repaired or mechanically and electrically maintained, in order to avoid a hazard.

8. People with limited physical, sensorial or mental capabilities as well as unknowing or inexperienced people and children must not use the blender except when supervised or thoroughly instructed on how to use the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Additionally, they must be aware of the dangers arising from the appliance and know how to operate it safely. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance must not be done by unsupervised children. Under no circumstances must the appliance be used or cleaned by children under the age of 8. The appliance and its power cord have to kept away from children under the age of 8.
9. Keep the appliance and the power cord away from children and pets.
10. Children must be supervised, so that they do not play with the blender.
11. Always make sure that the blade base is screwed on and that the jug lid is firmly attached to the blender jug before starting the blender. Otherwise, the contents might splash out. The measuring cup seal always has to be screwed into the jug lid unless you are processing very warm foods. In this case, the jug must not be more than half-full. When using one of the blender containers, the blade base has to be firmly screwed on.

12. Never disconnect the power plug while the appliance is running a program. Always terminate the program with the Power button first.

13. Do not place anything on the appliance while it is in use or in storage.

14. Pull the plug after every use. Only then, the appliance is fully switched off.
15. The appliance has to be cleaned after every use. Please refer to the notes given in the section "Cleaning and maintenance" on page 87 of this manual.
16. Clean the motor unit only with a dry or slightly moist towel. Never use aggressive, abrasive or acidic detergents for cleaning.
17. When lifting or moving the appliance, always touch the blender by its base. Always disconnect the power plug and take off resp. empty out the blender jug / blender container Always move the appliance very carefully and do not shake or throw it, it might be damaged.
18. Should you notice a strange smell or sound, switch the appliance off (in case a program is running) and pull the plug. Do not start using it again before having its functionality and safety checked by Solis or a service centre authorised by Solis.
19. Never touch the blender blades in the blade base. They are extremely sharp and could injure you!
20. Before disassembling or cleaning the appliance, always switch the appliance off with the Power button on the control panel if it is still blending. Then, wait for the motor and the blades to come to a complete standstill and disconnect the power plug from the power socket. This also applies if the appliance is not in use.
21. After completing a full-length blending cycle (180 seconds), the motor should be allowed to cool down for 5 minutes before you restart it. In general, please always let the motor cool down to room temperature (this takes approx. 2 minutes) after two blending cycles before restarting the appli

ance, even if these cycles took less time to finish. Also, please do not blend for more than a total of 3 minutes. Hard foods like coffee beans, almonds and the like should not be blended for more than 1 minute.

1. Should foods clog up around the blades, switch the blender off with the Power button. When the motor and the blades have come to a complete standstill, pull the power plug and take the blender jug off the motor unit. Use a plastic spatula to move resp. stir the foods around the blades before resuming the blending process. Never use your hands to move the foods – the blades are very sharp!
2. Do not reach into the blender jug and touch the blades after the power plug has been plugged in.
3. Never use the appliance if the blades are damaged or if anything else than food is in the blender jug / blender container.
4. Always keep your hands, fingers, hair, clothes, jewellery and kitchen utensils away from the blender jug while it is in use. You may insert kitchen utensils into the blender jug only after the power plug has been pulled and the blades have come to a complete standstill! To do that, please only use plastic or wooden kitchen tools, under no circumstances use ones made out of metal. Even then, please be very careful, as the blades are very sharp even when standing still. Never reach into the blender jug with your fingers or hands!
5. Always be very careful when handling the blender jug / blender container - the blades are extremely sharp! You should be especially careful when emptying the blender jug or when unscrewing resp. cleaning the blade base. Improper handling of the blades can lead to injuries!

6. Never remove the blender jug / blender container from the motor base while the appliance is switched on and plugged in.

7. Never use the blender without food or liquids in the blender jug/blender container.

8. Never pour carbonated liquids into the blender jug/blender container, this could cause injuries.
9. Do not process very hot or boiling liquids. They always have to be allowed to cool down before being poured into the blender jug/blender container.
10. Always be very careful when pouring warm liquids into the blender jug/blender container, the liquid might splash out of the jug/ container and burn you!
11. When blending very warm liquids, always make sure that the measuring cup is not placed in the lid to allow the steam to escape. In this case, the blender jug should not be more than half-full. Never look into the blender jug from above when processing warm or even hot foods while the measuring cup is not in place. Hot splashes could injure you! Caution: Very hot liquids must never be filled into the blender container.
12. Do not expose the blender jug/blender container to extreme temperatures, e.g. do not place the cold blender jug in hot water or vice versa.

13. Always note the Max-marking on the blender jug/the blender container and make sure to never exceed it. Should the Max-marking not be respected, the contents of the jug could spill out of the lid. In this case, switch the appliance off, disconnect the power plug and empty the jug enough to bring the surface level of the jug contents back under the Max-marking. Then, clean and dry the outside of the jug and the motor base. Place the jug with the closed lid back on the motor base and restart the appliance.

14. Keep the appliance clean. Always switch the appliance off and disconnect the power plug before cleaning and storing the appliance. Please refer to the notes given in the section "Cleaning and maintenance" in this manual.

15. Caution: The appliance has to be at a complete standstill and disconnected from the power supply when it is being cleaned or while parts are removed resp. installed. Otherwise, there is a risk of injury.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION

Your blender is equipped with a resettable overheating protection to protect the motor if it overheats. Should the motor overheat, it switches off automatically. In this case, disconnect the power plug and let the motor cool down for approx. 15 minutes. After that, plug the power plug back into the power socket and switch the appliance back on. If the appliance still cannot be operated, please contact Solis or a service centre authorised by Solis.

■ POWER SAVING MODE

Should you not operate any of the function buttons for 3 minutes after plugging the appliance in resp. terminating one of the programs, the appliance switches to standby mode, meaning the display goes out with only the function light still alight. To resume using the appliance, simply press the Power button.

PROGRAMS

• Your blender is equipped with the following pre-set programs, which can be manually modified:

Manual Setting: In every program using the blender jug, you can set a blending time between 5 and 180 seconds and a blending speed between 1 and 9. In every program using one of the blender containers, you can set a blending time between 5 and 60 seconds and a blending speed between 1 and 5.

BEFORE FIRST USE

• Carefully take the appliance out of its packaging and keep it safe for future storage.
• Remove all packaging materials and stickers resp. labels (except for the type plate).
  Take the lids off the blender containers and the blender jug and unscrew the blade base. Caution: The blades are extremely sharp, be careful not to injure yourself.
• Rinse the two blender containers and the blender jug with all lids and the measuring cup seal with warm dishwater and a soft towel or sponge. Carefully clean the blade base with a dishwashing brush. Rinse everything with clear water and use a soft towel to dry all parts. Let the blade base air-dry.

STARTINGUP

• Place the motor base on a solid, even, dry, stable and moisture resistant work surface.
  Choose a suitable blending vessel.
• When using the blender jug, screw the blade base onto the lower part of the blender jug.

Fill the blender jug / blender container with the foods resp. the liquid. Always pour the liquid ingredients into the vessel first, followed by the softer ingredients. Always add the solid or frozen ingredients resp. ice cubes to the vessel last.
Close the blender vessel:

Close the blender jug with the lid, making sure that the spout is covered by the lid. Then, place the measuring cup in the lid so that both ribs glide into the recesses. Fasten the measuring cup by turning it in a clockwise direction (towards "lock") until it locks into place.
Caution: If the measuring cup is not turned all the way in, the jug contents might splash out!
If you want to use the blender containers for blending, screw the blade base firmly onto the container.
- Place the blender jug / blender container on the motor base so that the grey nib on the edge of the vessel glides into the recess and the drive screw of the blade base is properly connected to the motor clutch.

Fully unwind the power cord and connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet: a long signal sound and the symbol for the blender vessel placed on the appliance lights up in the display, along with the "vegetable" program.

Note: The appliance can identify the blender jug or one of the two blender containers thanks to magnets installed into the vessels. The corresponding symbol lights up in the display:

CHOOSING A PROGRAM

You can now choose one of the following programs:

If the blender jug is placed on the motor base: vegetable, smoothies, masher, sauce, clean

If one of the blender container is placed on the motor base: vegetable, smoothies, sauce, clean

Note: With a blender container on the motor base, the "masher" program (mashing / pureeing) cannot be selected.

Once the appliance is plugged in or you press the Power button while the appliance is in standby mode, the standard setting "vegetable" lights up in the display.
If you want to select a different program, press the + or - button. Each press of the button switches the display to the next program.
- When the right program lights up in the display, you can decide whether you want to blend in the pre-set program or if you want to manually modify this pre-set program.

1. SELECTING A PRE-SET PROGRAM:

Once the desired program lights up, e.g. "vegetable", press the Power button, the appliance runs the pre-set blending program. The display states the speed and a time indicator. Once the program has terminated, a check mark lights up and a signal sounds.

2. MANUALLY MODIFYING A PROGRAM:

You can change every pre-set program by changing the blending speed and/or the blending time. To do that, proceed as follows:

Once the desired program (e.g. "smoothies") has been selected with the + and - buttons and lights up in the display, press the mode button. The display states "Time" and the standard settings "60 sec" by the blender jug and "30 sec" by the blender containers.

To adjust the blending time, now press the + or - button, you can set a blending time between 5 seconds and 180 seconds for the blender jug resp. between 5 seconds and 60 seconds for the blender containers. Each press of the + or - button changes the blending time by 5 seconds, keeping the button pressed will change it at intervals of 20 seconds.

The blending time can be adjusted if "Time" is stated in the display

Once the desired blending time lights up in the display, you can either use the smoothie function by pressing the Power button (preserving the standard blending speed) or press the mode button again to manually adjust the blending speed as well.

• To adjust the blending speed, press either the + or - button. For the blender jug, you can set a blending speed between 1 and 9, for the blender containers, you can choose a blending speed between 1 and 5. The standard setting is 5.
• Once the desired speed lights up in the display, press the Power button and the appliance starts up using the selected speed and time settings. The display states "manual" and the set time is counted down. Additionally, the time indicator indicates the progress of the program.

Tip: If you want to keep the standard blending time unchanged but want to modify the blending speed, simply press the mode button twice. You will be directly sent to the blending speed setting, the display states "speed".
Once the program has terminated, the check mark lights up in the display and a signal sounds.

Manual setting: When using the blender jug, you can set a blending time between 5 and 180 seconds and a blending speed between 1 and 9. When using one of the two blender containers, you can set a blending time between 5 and 60 seconds and a blending speed between 1 and 5.

PULSE FUNCTION

The Pulse function is ideal for powerful blending intervals at the highest speed and e.g. crushing hard substances like ice cubes. You can activate the Pulse function by pressing and holding the Power button. The display states "pulse" and "9 max" ("pulse 5" when using the blender containers). The time indicator, counting to a maximum of 60 seconds, is also displayed. The appliance stops as soon as you let go of the Power button. You can press the Power button multiple times in a row. The appliance stops after 60 seconds, even if you keep the Power button pressed.

CRUSHING ICE CUBES

You can use your blender to crush ice cubes for delicious drinks. Use the pre-set automatic program "smoothie" or activate the previously described Pulse function, until the desired degree of crush has been reached.

TERMINATING THE BLENDING PROCESS

When the program has terminated (check mark lights up), disconnect the power plug from the power socket. Caution: Never disconnect the power plug from the socket while the appliance is running a program. Should the desired consistency be reached before the time has elapsed, always terminate the program with the Power button first.

Always wait for the blades to come to a complete standstill and take the blender jug resp. blender container off the motor base.

When using the blender jug: Open the lid and pour the blended foods out of the jug.

When using the blender containers: Turn the blender container upside down and screw off the blade base; either attach the flat lid or the drinking lid with the drinking spout to the blender container. Make sure that the drinking spout is firmly sealed with the corresponding lid before transporting the blender container.

Clean all blender containers, the blender jug as well as all lids resp. the measuring cup and the blade base after every use as described in the section "Cleaning and maintenance".

BLENDING TIPS

The lid and the measuring cup seal should always be in place on the blender jug during use. The measuring cup seal should only be taken off when warm foods are processed (see article 59 on page 77). If the volume of the foods lies under the Max-marking during the blending process and you want to fill more food into the blender jug, it is enough to remove the measuring cup seal (turn in a counter-clockwise direction towards "open"). You can add the foods through the opening in the lid. After that, put the measuring cup back in place and clock wisely screw it all the way in (towards "lock").
- Never remove the blender jug or the blender container while the appliance is switched on. Vice versa, do not place the blender jug or the blender container on the motor base while the appliance is switched on.
- Never blend boiling hot or even very hot liquids. Always allow the liquids to cool down first.
Always fill the liquid ingredients into the blender jug first, followed by the soft ingredients. Add the hard or frozen ingredients last.
Use a plastic spatula to move the ingredients clogged up around the blades, never use a metal tool, as it might damage the blades or the jug. Always switch the appliance off, wait for the blades to come to a complete standstill and disconnect the power plug before opening the blender jug. Never use your hands to move the ingredients - risk of injury!
Let the appliance blend for a maximum of 3 minutes.
- Chopping hard foods or spices can tarnish the surface of the blender jug or the blender container, however, this has no effect on the blending performance of the appliance.
Always use the Pulse function to powerfully chop hard or frozen foods or if the foods are too thick or rough to circulate inside the blender jug (while in Stand-by-mode, press and hold the Power button).
Always take note of the Max-marking in the blender jug and the blender container when filling in liquids or foods and do not exceed it.
Before chopping ice cubes, fresh herbs, garlic or onion, bread, nuts or spices, always make sure that the blender jug / blender container and the blade base are completely dry.
The blender jug is not suitable for the storage of foods. Always transfer foods to another vessel after blending.
- Do not blend and process foods for too long and always supervise the blending process. The blender should only be operating for the time the foods or the blending process need to achieve optimal final results.

Only fill foods into the blender jug / blender container, never anything else.
Always pull the power plug before removing the blender vessel or reaching into the blender jug.
- Never pour carbonated drinks into the blender jug / blender container for processing. Risk of injury!
- Should you notice moisture or liquid on the upper part of the motor base while the appliance is blending, switch it off immediately with the Power button and disconnect the power plug. Take off the blender jug and immediately wipe the motor base and the outside of the jug dry with a dry towel or paper towel.
- You can terminate the blending process at any time by pressing the Power button, even if the appliance is running a program.
- Thicker mixtures are more efficiently pureed if the blender jug is only quarter- or half-full.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

The appliance and the blender jug / blender container should be cleaned immediately after every use to prevent the foods from sticking to the blades, the blender jug / blender container and the lid.
We recommend performing a coarse cleaning cycle with the automatic program "clean".
To do that, fill half of the blender jug / blender container with warm water, close it with the lid incl. the measuring cup seal resp. screw the blade base onto the blender container and place the jug / container back on the motor base. Connect the power plug to the power socket and select the "clean" program.
After the program has terminated, disconnect the power plug.
Take the blender jug or the blender container off the motor base.
For the blender jug: Open the lid, take the measuring cup out of the lid. Empty out the water. Unscrew the blade base.
For the blender containers: Unscrew the blade base to remove it from the blender container. Empty out the water.
- Rinse all parts that have come into contact with foods by hand in warm dish-water with a soft towel or sponge. The blade base should be carefully cleaned with a cleaning brush.
After that, rinse everything in clear water and dry all parts. You can clean the blender jug / the blender containers with the lid and the measuring cup seal as well as the blade base in the dishwasher at a regular rinsing program. The lid and the measuring cup seal should be placed in the upper drawer of the dishwasher.

• Clean the motor base with a slightly moist towel and some mild detergent. Never submerge the motor base in water or another liquid. Dry the motor base with a dry towel.
  Make sure that all parts are completely dry before reassembling the appliance.
  In general, do not use any aggressive or scouring cleaning agents or metal sponges for cleaning, as these might damage the surfaces.

Make sure that the appliance is disconnect from the power supply and that it is clean and dry.
- Store the appliance, best fully assembled and standing upright in a dry, dark place, ideally in its original packaging. Do not place anything on the appliance.
Always keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of children.
