How to install the Steba KH 4 fan heater?

Place it on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface, at least 1 meter away from flammable objects (furniture, curtains). Never place it directly below a power outlet. Make sure the air inlet and outlet grilles are clear (50 cm behind, 1 meter in front).

How to adjust the temperature with the thermostat?

Set the thermostat to maximum to heat up to the desired temperature. Then slowly turn the thermostat counterclockwise until you hear a 'click' (the device switches off). Then turn it slightly clockwise to maintain the chosen room temperature.

What to do if the device does not turn on?

Check that the device is plugged in and the socket works. Make sure the thermostat has not reached room temperature (automatic shutdown). Also check that the safety switch on the base is pressed (flat surface). If the problem persists, contact after-sales service.

Can I use the Steba KH 4 in a bathroom?

No. It must not be used near a shower, bathtub or swimming pool. The controls must not be accessible from water. The device is not designed for humid rooms.

How to clean the fan heater?

Unplug the device and let it cool down completely. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air inlet and outlet grilles, as well as the motor and heating element. Never immerse the device in water. Clean about every 6 months.

Can the fan run without heating?

Yes. The program selector has a 'Cool air' position (position 6 on the diagram). This allows using the fan function only, without activating the heating element.

How to activate the oscillation function?

Oscillation is controlled via a button on the back of the device. Press to activate the pivoting motion, which distributes heat more evenly. Never block the oscillation movement.

Can I leave the device unattended?

No. It is imperative not to leave without turning off the device (OFF position) and unplugging it. Never leave it running with an external timer or remote control.

What to do in case of overheating?

If the device shuts off due to overheating, cut off the power, unplug it and let it cool down. Check that the device is not too close to a wall or object. After cooling, it can be used normally again.

Where to find spare parts for the KH 4?

Repairs and replacement of a damaged cable must be carried out by an authorized after-sales service. Contact Steba or an authorized service center. Use only original spare parts.

This appliance is for private and indoor use only and must not be used commercially. Please read the instruction manual carefully and keep it at a safe place. When the appliance is given to another person the instruction manual should be passed to that person, too. Only use the appliance as described in the instruction manual and pay attention to the safety information. No liability for damages or accidents will be accepted, which are caused by not paying attention to the instruction manual. Remove all packaging and sticker.

Safety information

• This heater is an additional source of heat for domestic use and may only be used for this purpose. Keep the device away from moisture.
• Connect and operate the appliance in accordance with the specifications shown on the rating label.
• Do not use if the plug cord is damaged. Verify before every use.
• Do not plug with wet hands.
• Connect the power plug to a properly installed and easily accessible socket only.
• To unplug the power plug, always pull the plug – not the cable.
• Plug off the appliance after each use or in case of failure.
• Do not pull at the cord. Don't pull it over edges and don't bend it too much.

• Keep the cord away from hot parts.
  The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience/knowledge, provided that are supervised or have been provided with instruction in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the resulting dangers. Children must not use the packaging as a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised.

• Children under the age of 8 must be kept away from the appliance and the connecting cable.
  Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance or packaging material (e.g. Plastic Bags).

• The appliance must not be operated using a timer or a separate remote system!

• Don't leave your home while the appliance is in function: ensure that the switch is in the OFF (0) position and that the device is unplugged.

• Do not leave the appliance outdoors or in a damp area.

WARNING: In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater. Do not hang anything on the heater and do not cover it while it's working.

• Never immerse the unit in water.

• During operation, place the heater in a safe position:

o far (1 mt.) from inflammable objects or furniture.
o if wall mounted, not fixed to wooden or synthetic plastic surfaces.
o leaving the air outlet space free: 1 mt. of free space in front of the heater and 50~cm of free space behind it.
o not located directly below a socket-outlet.

• Never use the device after a malfunction, e.g. if it felt down or has been damaged in any other manner.
• The manufacturer is not liable for damage which is occurring due to the usage of the appliance in a different way as described or a mistake in the handling has been made.
• To prevent injury, repairs such as replacing a damaged cord, should only be carried out by a customer service. Only original spare parts have to be used.
• The device gets hot, only transport after it cooled down.
• Only use the device as described in this manual.

• You must not put any materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic etc. into the appliance.

• This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

o staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and others working environments
o by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
o bed and breakfast type environments.

• Before initial use: Heat up the device for about 15 min. to eliminate the smell of newness.

Attention! Device gets hot. Risk of Burns! Parts of this product may be very hot during operation. The air outlet gets hot during operation. Special attention is when children or vulnerable persons are present.

Do not blow on people or animals directly. Do not use the device in small rooms if there are people or animals who unable to leave the room.

• If an extension cable is used, it has to have a cross-section of 1.5mm^2 . A cable drum must always be unwound.
• If a GS-tested 16 A multi-pin extension is used, it may not be charged with more then 3680 watts due to fire hazard.
• Make sure that children do not tease the cable or that a trip hazard occurs.
• The device must always be disconnected from the power supply if it is not supervised and before assembling, disassembling or cleaning.
• Do not use the heater in rooms with explosive gas or while using inflammable solvents or varnish or glues.

Cleaning

• Attention! Pull the plug before cleaning and let the device cool down.

• Never immerse the unit into water.

• We recommend to clean at least twice a year the air inlet and air outlet with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from motor and heating element.

Workplace

Important:

Never place this device on or next to hot surfaces (e.g. hot stoves). Only use it on a

even, stable and a heat resisting surface. It is important that no inflammable items are

near to the device. Do not place the device on the edge of the table so that it cannot be touched by children or fall down when touched.

• The appliance must not be used near showers, bathtubs, sinks or swimming pools.
• The adjusting knobs should never be accessible to persons who are in the shower or bathtub to prevent any touching with wet hands.
• The fan heater only operates when the safety switch on the bottom of the unit is pressed.
• Do not place the cable under a carpet.
• Mind that during function the power cord must be always completely pulled out.

• The oscillation function can be switched on and off at the back of the device.
• Due to the oscillation (turning) a more equal temperature in the surrounding is achieved.
• Never block the oscillation movement.

Thermostat

• In a room with a temperature exceeding 25^ C , the thermostat does not turn on the fan heater even if it is at maximum.
• Vice-versa, in a room with a very low temperature (below 5^ ), it is normal that the thermostat keeps the heater constantly on until the desired temperature is reached, even if it is at minimum.
  To optimise the use of the thermostat, proceed as follows:

o turn the thermostat knob to maximum and wait until a comfortable temperature is reached.
o then turn the thermostat knob anti-clockwise until you hear a "click" and the heater turns off.
o turn the thermostat knob clockwise just a little.
o in this position, the thermostat will maintain the selected ambient temperature.
