Frequently Asked Questions - Carbone BORETTI

How to install the rotisserie on my Boretti Carbone?
Place the rod on the rotisserie base with the pointed side into the motor. Center the meat on the rod and use the two forks to secure it. Make sure the assembly rotates freely before lighting the charcoal.
How to balance the meat on the spit?
Center the meat on the rod and tighten the forks on both sides. Rotate the spit by hand to check balance. Adjust if necessary before cooking.
When should I light the charcoal?
Light the charcoal after installing the meat and turning on the motor. This allows you to prepare the meat safely before the grill gets hot.
Can I use the rotisserie without the motor?
No, the rotisserie is designed to be used exclusively with the supplied motor. Motorized rotation is essential for even cooking.
How to clean the rotisserie?
Wash the rod and forks with hot water and a soft sponge before each use. After cooking, wait for complete cooling before cleaning. Never clean parts while hot.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always wear long heat-resistant gloves. Make sure the power cord is dry and protected from rain. The installation must be done with a grounded outlet. Disconnect power before any maintenance.
Where to store the motor after use?
Remove the motor from the rotisserie and store it in a dry, safe place. Never leave it mounted on the barbecue after cooking.
What to do if the motor does not turn?
Check that the power cord is properly plugged in and the outlet is powered. If the problem persists, return the rotisserie to an authorized service center for inspection.
Can I use a meat thermometer with the rotisserie?
Yes, it is recommended to use an external core thermometer (such as the Boretti BBA117) to check the internal temperature of the meat.

2. General safety guidelines

* This rotisserie is designed for Boretti Carbone hence deemed as part of your barbecue during usage. Before use, first read all the information contained in the manual of your Carbone carefully!
* To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, read and follow basic precautions before installing and using.
* Improper installation, use, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause injury or property damage.
* Read the installation, operating and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment.
* Caution!

Before installation or service, disconnect the power supply to the work area by removing the fuse, "tripping" the circuit breaker, or unplugging the unit.

* Warning!

Be certain your rotisserie is properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician in accordance with applicable codes. To guarantee the electrical safety of this rotisserie, continuity must exist between the grill and an effective grounding system. It is imperative that this basic safety requirement be met. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damages caused by the lack or inadequacy of an effective grounding system.

* Caution!

To protect against electrical shock, the power cord and plug should be kept dry and NOT expose to rain.

* Keep children away from the grill and from the spit as it contains sharp edges.

Warning!

Do not operate this rotisserie with a damaged power cord or power plug, and do not operate after this rotisserie malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. If this should occur, return the rotisserie to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.

Warning!

At all times the use of long heat resistant gloves is necessary for safety.

Caution!

To ensure continued protection against risk of electric shock, connect to properly grounded outlets only.

Wash the rotisserie rod and rotisserie forks before each use. We advise to use hot water and a soft sponge.

Caution!

Ensure the rotisserie motor's electrical cord is not in the path of heat, sharp edges, and aggressive surfaces.

Caution!

Ensure the cord is protected from where someone could trip over it.

Warning!

Set up the rotisserie with food before igniting the charcoal on your Carbone.

* Prepping the food to be cooked onto the rotisserie rod outside of your Carbone is recommended before starting the charcoal fire.
* Center the meat on the rod and use the two included forks to hold the meat securely. The more centered and balanced the meat, with the least amount of movement, is the best configuration.
* Place the rod onto rotisserie base with the pointy side of the rod into the motor. Turn on the rotisserie motor before starting the fire. This allows any adjustments to the meat to be made before everything gets hot. Reconfigure either the meat on the rod itself or the forks holding the meat securely in place if necessary before starting the fire. Once the food is balanced and turning well, you are ready to start your charcoal.
* It is a good rule of thumb to check the food on the rotisserie rod after the first 15-20 minutes of cooking as the meat could shift on the rod and need to be re-adjusted. Always use extreme caution when working around the hot internal parts of the grill. Use long heat resistant gloves and protective clothing at all times.
* Upon completion of cooking, do not attempt to clean any part of the rotisserie kit while they are hot. Wait for your Carbone and rotisserie to cool completely.
* Remove the rotisserie motor and store in a safe place. Do not leave the rotisserie motor mounted on the Carbone.
* Use an (external) core-thermometer with probes to make sure the meat or dish is at the desired and safe temperature. A great option is the Boretti BBA117 thermometer.
