Intended use

This consumer electronics device is used to play back audio files which can be transferred via Bluetooth® or 3.5 mm jack cable. This product is ideal for creating a cheerful, colourful effect for decorative purposes, but not suitable for lighting rooms in houses. The device is not intended for any other purpose, nor for use beyond the scope described.

The device is not intended for use in commercial or industrial environments. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage caused by failure to observe these instructions, improper use or repairs, unauthorised modifications or the use of unapproved replacement parts. The risk shall be borne solely by the user.

Safety

This section contains important safety instructions for handling the device. This device complies with statutory safety regulations. Improper use may result in personal injury and property damage.

Basic safety instructions

To ensure safe operation of the device, follow the safety guidelines set out below:

Check the device for visible external damage before use. Do not operate a device which has been damaged or dropped.
DANGER! Do not allow children to play with the packaging material! Keep all packaging materials away from children.
There is a risk of suffocation!

This device may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the device safely and are aware of the potential risks. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
If the charger cable or connections are damaged, have them replaced by an authorised specialist or the customer service department.
- Protect the charger cable from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
Ensure that the charger cable is not stretched tightly or kinked.
Always place the device on a stable and level surface. It can be damaged if dropped.
Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or high temperatures. Otherwise it may overheat and be irreparably damaged.
DANGER! Do not operate the device close to naked flames (e.g. candles) and do not place burning candles on or next to the device. This will help to prevent fires.
The device may heat up while it is charging. Place the device in a well-ventilated location during the charging process and do not cover it.
The device is not designed for use in rooms with high temperature or humidity (e.g. bathrooms) or excessive dust.

  • Protect the device from penetration by moisture and liquids. Never submerge the device in water or place objects filled with liquids (e.g. vases) close to the device.
    Switch the device off immediately and disconnect any connected cables from the device if you hear any unusual noises, smell fumes or notice any smoke. Have the device checked by a qualified specialist before using it again.
    All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the customer service department. Improper repairs may put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any warranty claims. This device may not be opened by the user.
    The device has an integrated lithium-ion battery. Mishandling the lithium-ion batteries can cause fires, explosions, leakage of dangerous chemicals or other hazards! Do not throw the device into an open fire.
    Do not make any unauthorised modifications or alterations to the device. This device may not be opened by the user.

Remove all parts and the operating instructions from the box.
Remove all packaging material.

NOTE

  • Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
    If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result of defective packaging or during transport, contact the service hotline (see section Service).

Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device from damage during transport. The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal and are therefore recyclable.

Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging

materials which are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.

NOTE

If possible, keep the original device packaging for the entire duration of the warranty period so that the device can be packaged properly for return shipment in the event of a warranty claim.

Charging the internal battery

CAUTION

  • Charge the internal battery only in dry indoor spaces.

Before using the device, the integrated battery must be completely charged.

Ensure that the device is switched off. If a device is switched on, the operating/ charging LED lights up. Press the button for approx. 2 seconds to switch off a device.
Connect the USB plug on the charger cable to a USB power supply.
Connect the micro-USB plug of the charging cable to the charging socket micro-USB charging socket (DC 5 V) n the device.

CAUTION

  • Use only a mains adapter with an output voltage of 5V and an output current of at least 900mA or a USB 3.0 port on your computer to charge the integrated battery. You can recognise the USB 3.0 port due to the blue marking.
  • USB 2.0 ports do not deliver sufficient power to charge the integrated battery. Using a USB 2.0 port can damage the computer.

NOTE

The operating/charging LED lights up orange during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the charging LED turns off.
- Charging takes about 5-6 hours at a charging current of 900mA . When the battery is fully charged, you can play back music for about 5 hours without lighting, or up to 3 hours with lighting at a medium volume. The playback time may vary depending on usage (volume/lighting).
- When the battery is dead, you will hear beeps every few seconds and the operating/charging LED ⑥ flashes orange. When the battery performance drops too low, the speaker switches off automatically.

Handling and use

This section provides you with important information on handling and using the device.

Switching the speakers on/off

Press and hold the button for about 2 seconds to turn the speaker on and activate the Bluetooth function. You will hear a beep and the operating/charging LED 6 flashes alternately blue and orange. The light surface 7 illuminates.
Press and hold the button 1 for about 2 seconds to turn the speaker off and deactivate the Bluetooth® function. You will hear a beep. The operating/charging LED 6 will go out.

Pairing the speaker with a Bluetooth® music device

Before you can use the speaker, you must pair it with a compatible Bluetooth® device.

Ensure that the speaker is switched off and the Bluetooth® device is switched on.
Set the Bluetooth device so that it scans for other Bluetooth devices.

A detailed description of how to do this can be found in the operating instructions for your Bluetooth device.

Press and hold the button 1 or about 2 seconds to turn the speaker on and activate the Bluetooth® function. You will hear a beep and the operating/charging LED 6 flashes blue and orange.

Select SBLL 56 A1 from the list of found devices on your Bluetooth® device to pair the two devices. You will hear a short beep when the connection has been successfully established.

The operating/charging LED ⑥ flashes blue twice every 2 seconds to represent the established Bluetooth® connection. You can now use the speaker to listen to your favourite music wirelessly.

NOTE

The next time you turn on the speaker, it will connect automatically to the last-connected Bluetooth® device. If your Bluetooth® device does not automatically reconnect, you will have to re-establish the connection to your Bluetooth® music device manually. A detailed description of how to do this can be found in the operating instructions for your Bluetooth® device.

If you want to connect the speaker to another Bluetooth device, you must first unpair the current Bluetooth device. Press the button for about 2 seconds. You will hear a beep. You can also break the connection from your playback device.

Button functions during music playback

Button Function
Press for 2 seconds to switch the device off/on.
II/cPress briefly to play/pause the music. Press and hold for 2 seconds until you hear a beep to end the Bluetooth® connection. The device must be re-paired with your Bluetooth® device before you can reuse it.
+/IIIPress briefly to increase the volume (a volume scale will be shown on the light surface ⑦). When you reach the maximum volume you will hear a brief tone. Alternatively, you can increase the volume on the playback device. Press and hold for 2 seconds to jump to the next track.
-/-Press briefly to decrease the volume (a volume scale will be shown on the light surface ⑦). Alternatively, you can decrease the volume on the playback device. Press and hold for 2 seconds to jump back to beginning of the track. Press and hold again for 2 seconds within 2 seconds to jump to the previous track.

Button Function

The button controls the lighting on the light surface as follows in a circle, starting with the light surface switched off (the first two lighting programmes vary depending on the position of the speaker):

Press once: The light surface shows a multicoloured colour change in time with the music using a flashing colour strip in the middle of the speaker (horizontal position) or below (vertical position). The light surface starts in this programme when the speaker is switched on.
Press twice: The light surface shows a multicoloured colour change in time with the music using a flashing colour strip along the whole breadth of the speaker (horizontal position) or below (vertical position).
Press three times: Large-scale colour changes run over the entire light surface 7 in a repeating pattern.
Press four times: Fast, diagonal colour changes run over the entire light surface 7 in a repeating pattern.
Press five times: Single-colour stripes run quickly over the light surface and the colour changes roughly every 2 seconds.
Press again: The light surface switches off and the cycle starts from the beginning the next time you press the button.

AUX IN mode

You can also listen to music from a portable audio device connected via the 3.5mm jack cable 12

Ensure that the speaker is switched off.
Use the 3.5mm jack cable to connect the audio device to the 3.5mm jack socket (AUX) 3f the speaker.
Press and hold the button or about 2 seconds to turn the speaker on. You will hear a tone and the operating/charging LED lights up blue.
Start playback on the audio device and set the volume to a moderate level.
Then set the desired volume using the (串) button 4 or the - (H) button 10 on the speaker.
Press the button if u want to mute the speaker.

NOTE

If you connect a 3.5 mm jack cable to the speaker during the playback of audio files via Bluetooth®, it will switch playback automatically to the AUX input. The Bluetooth® connection is also stopped if you simply connect a 3.5 mm jack cable to the speaker.
In AUX IN operation the telephone functions are deactivated. It is also no longer possible to use + (M) button or the - (M) button to jump to the next/previous track.

Telephone functions

If you use a smartphone as your Bluetooth playback device, the audio playback will be paused when there is an incoming call.
Acceptance/termination of the call can be carried out on the device or the smartphone. The sound is played on the device speaker.
■ Speak into the device microphone to make your call.
You can switch the audio source at any time via your smartphone. To do so, please follow the operating manual of your smartphone.
After finishing the call, the playback of the audio file will be continued automatically.

Depending on the smartphone used, not all functions described will be available.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot pair the speaker with a compatible Bluetooth® music device, proceed as follows:

Make sure that the Bluetooth function is activated on the music device. When an device is connected via a 3.5 ~mm jack cable, the Bluetooth® function is deactivated.
Ensure that the speaker is switched on.
If you use several music devices, ensure that any previous connection is disconnected. There may be a previously paired device in range.
Make sure that the speaker is no more than 10 metres from the Bluetooth® device and that no obstacles or electronic devices are placed between them.

Cleaning

CAUTION

  • To avoid irreparable damage to the device, ensure that no moisture can penetrate the device during cleaning.
  • Do not use caustic, abrasive or solvent-based cleaning materials. These can damage the surfaces of the device.
    Clean the housing of the device with a lightly moistened cloth and a mild detergent only.

Storage when not in use

Store the device in a location which is clean, dry, dust-free and not in direct sunlight.

To ensure a long battery life, charge the battery at regular intervals.

isposal

Disposal of the device

The adjacent symbol of a crossed-out dustbin means that this device is subject to Directive 2012/19/EU. This directive states that this device may not be disposed of in the normal household waste at the end of its lifecycle, but should be delivered to specially set-up collection locations, recycling depots or disposal companies.

This disposal is free of charge for the user. Protect the environment and dispose of this device properly.

Warranty conditions

The validity period of the warranty starts from the date of purchase. Please keep your original receipt in a safe place. This document will be required as proof of purchase.

If any material or production fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you at our discretion. This warranty service is dependent on you presenting the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) and a short written description of the fault and its time of occurrence.

If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period.

Warranty period and statutory claims for defects

The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components.
