How to light the Mayon barbecue?

Apply a thin layer of ignition gel on the ignition tray, place it centered on the ventilation duct. Light the gel with a long lighter. Then, place the receptacle filled with charcoal (approximately 250 g) with its lid on the tray, then the grill. The ventilation motor must be set to maximum power during lighting.

How to adjust the cooking temperature?

The temperature is adjusted by turning the ventilation motor knob: a higher level increases heat, a lower level decreases it. To keep food warm, you can turn off the motor completely.

How much charcoal to use?

The instructions recommend approximately 250 g of charcoal per use. Do not exceed the capacity of the charcoal receptacle.

Can I use lighter fluid or alcohol?

No, it is strictly forbidden to use alcohol or gasoline to light or relight the barbecue. Use only ignition gel complying with EN 1860-3.

How to clean the barbecue?

Let the barbecue cool completely before cleaning. The grill and inner tank are dishwasher safe. Never use acid, mineral spirits, or combustible materials. Do not pour water on the hot barbecue.

What to do if the battery is dead?

Recharge the battery with the provided USB cable via the charging slot of the ventilation motor. Never use a fast charger. Monitor the charge; if the battery overheats abnormally, stop immediately.

Where to use the Mayon barbecue?

This tabletop barbecue is intended for private outdoor use only. Never use it in an enclosed space or indoors. Place it on a flat and stable surface.

What to do if the barbecue produces smoke on first use?

It is normal for the charcoal receptacle to have oil residues that produce slight smoke during first use. Heat for at least 30 minutes before first cooking to burn off these residues.

How to recharge the battery?

Insert the USB cable into the charging slot of the ventilation motor. Plug the other end into a standard USB adapter. Do not use a fast charger. Recharge the battery before first use.

What to do with used batteries?

Rechargeable batteries and used batteries must not be disposed of with household waste (according to regulations). Dispose of them at a municipal collection center or return them to Feuerdesign. The battery is a consumable not covered by warranty.

Operating Instructions and assembly instructions

Read this manual carefully and follow the safety instructions. Take enough time and use a flat surface with sufficient space.

First steps

1 Compare with reference to the item list the completeness of the delivery. Remove the packaging material. Loosen the clamps 12, that secure the grill 1 and the charcoal container 3. Remove the grill and take out the charcoal container.
2 Insert the grease collection bowl 5 in the outer case 6.
3 Fill the charcoal container 3 with about 250g of beech wood charcoal, and put the lid 2 on the charcoal container.
4 Apply a thin layer of the ignition gel on the ignition tray on place them appropriately, centered over the vent pipe.
5 Slide the charged fan motor into the engine slot and set the controller to full power so that the flame receives sufficient air supply. Caution Risk of burns from open flame!
6 Light the gel best with a stick lighter. Make sure that the flame is burning properly.
7 When the gel burns cleanly, place the filled charcoal container 3 with the lid carefully 2 on the ignition tray 4 and secure the charcoal container by placing the grill on top 1 and closing to the brackets 12. Within a few minutes the charcoal is fully ignited and ready for grilling.
8 When placing the individual components, make sure that all are nicely centered fit properly on top of each other.
9 To regulate the grilling temperature set the knob on a lower or higher level. To keep the food warm on the grill you can completely turn off the fan motor.
10 The recommendation that the barbecue shall be heated up and the fuel kept red hot for at least 30 min prior to the first cooking.

The charcoal container can have some small oil residues, which can produce a light smoke on the first use.

Rechargeable batteries

The rechargeable batteries must always be fully charged prior to first use.

Charge the battery with the appropriate charger. In the case of the Feu-erdesign fan motors that have a USB charging slot, the battery must be charged in the device itself with the appropriate USB cable. The charging process should never be performed in the fast-charging mode. In case of a significant heat development of the battery the charging process is to be stopped immediately.

Do not overcharge the batteries. For security reasons, we always recommend that you monitor the charging process! Rechargeable batteries are consumer items and are not subject to warranty. Substitute, in case of justified claims, might be received on the way of goodwill.

Dispose of used batteries as required by law. Disposal in the household garbage is prohibited. You can leave them for free at a municipal collection center. Batteries or rechargeable batteries can be returned after use to us via post.

Cleaning

The grill must be completely cool before cleaning. Do not use water to cool the hot grill, as this may result in burns and scalds. Clean the grill, the inner bowl and other dirty pieces after each use. Grill and inner bowl can be cleaned in the dishwasher. When cleaning, never use acid, mineral spirits or other combustible materials.

Warranty

Your Feuerdesign grill has a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects. The sales receipt is your proof of warranty. Possible wear of, corrosion, deformation and discoloration of the parts (especially the stainless steel parts) that are directly exposed to the fire, are normal and are not considered a reason for complaint. The charcoal container is a consumer item and needs to be replaced after a while.
