How to access the repeater's configuration interface?

Connect to the repeater's WiFi network (e.g., TP-Link_Extender) or via Ethernet, then open a browser and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254. Create a password to log in.

What to do if I cannot access the configuration page?

1) Check that your computer is properly connected to the repeater (WiFi or Ethernet). 2) Make sure your computer obtains an IP address automatically. 3) Use the default IP address 192.168.0.254. 4) If the repeater is already connected to the router, check the router's DHCP client list to find the assigned IP address. 5) As a last resort, reset the repeater.

How to reset the repeater to factory settings?

Press and hold the RESET button for about 10 seconds until all LEDs briefly turn off, then release. All settings will be erased.

What is the difference between repeater mode and access point mode?

Repeater mode extends the existing WiFi signal wirelessly. Access point mode converts a wired Ethernet connection into a WiFi network. The RE355 can operate in both modes.

How to optimize the repeater's placement for better signal?

Place the repeater halfway between your router and the area to cover, in a wall outlet. Use the LED signal indicator to find the best location.

Can I use the repeater with any router?

Yes, the RE355 is compatible with all standard WiFi routers and internet boxes. It works with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards.

How to connect a wired device (TV, console) to the WiFi network via the repeater?

If your repeater has an Ethernet port, you can use it in WiFi client mode. Connect the repeater to the router wirelessly, then plug your device (TV, console) into the repeater via an Ethernet cable. The device will access the WiFi network.

Does the WiFi password change after configuration?

During configuration, you set a new SSID and password for the extended network. By default, the password is the same as your source router's, but you can customize it.

What to do if the repeater overheats or stops working?

Unplug the repeater, let it cool down, then plug it back in. Make sure it is used in a well-ventilated area, away from moisture and excessive heat. If the problem persists, contact TP-Link support.

How to update the repeater's firmware?

Access the admin interface via a browser, go to System Tools > Firmware Update. Download the latest version from the TP-Link website and follow the instructions. Do not cut power during the update.

1 Installation

Plug the extender into an electrical outlet near your router and press the power button if it has one.

2 Connect your computer to the extender

Via Wireless

Disconnect your Ethernet connection from your computer and connect to the extender's network (e.g., TP-Link_Extender or TP-Link_Extender_XXXX).

Via Ethernet Cable (If the extender has an Ethernet port)

Disable the Wi-Fi on your computer. Connect your computer to the extender via an Ethernet cable.

3 Configure

Set up your extender via one of the methods.

Method 1: Via TP-Link Tether App

Get the up-to-date Tether app, and follow the app instructions to complete the setup.

Method 2: Via a Web Browser

1 Launch a web browser and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net or

http://192.168.0.254 in the address bar.

Create a password to log in.

2 Follow the instructions on the web page to complete the initial configuration.

4 Relocate

To achieve better signal quality, plug in the extender halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone.

Enjoy!

Connect your device to the extender using the extended SSID and Wi-Fi password that you've set during the configuration. The default Wi-Fi password is the same as your host network.

Entertainment Adapter

If your extender has an Ethernet port, it can be used as a wireless adapter to connect any Ethernet-only device such as a Blu-ray player, game console, DVR, or smart TV to your Wi-Fi network.

First, connect the extender to your router, then connect your Ethernet-only device to the extender via an Ethernet cable.

Q1: Why can't I see the login page after entering http://tplinkrepeater.net in the browser?

A1: Make sure your computer is connected to the extender either via the extended SSID or via an Ethernet cable (if the extender has an Ethernet port).

A2: Make sure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically.

A3: Use the IP address to access the extender. The default IP is 192.168.0.254. If the extender is connected to the router, you should go to your router's DHCP client list to obtain the extender's current IP address.

A4: Reset the extender and connect to its wireless network, enter http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254 in a web browser and press Enter.

Q2: How do I reset the extender?

A: With the extender powered on, press the RESET button until the LEDs turn on momentarily, then release the button.
