Frequently Asked Questions - W3202MJ DELL

How to clean the screen of my Dell W3202MJ?
Unplug the device first. Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Never use chemicals such as benzene, thinner, ammonia, or any other abrasive product. Do not use compressed air to avoid damaging the screen.
How to connect a DVD player to my Dell TV?
You can use the HDMI connector for excellent quality, or the component (YPbPr) connectors for very good quality, or the composite or S-Video connector for standard quality. Make sure to select the correct input source in the TV menu (HDMI, AV1, AV SIDE, etc.).
What to do if the screen remains black and the indicator is orange?
The orange indicator means the TV is in standby mode. Press the power button (or on the remote) to turn it on. If the indicator is blue but the screen is black, check that the input source is correct (for example, if using a device, select the correct input in the Input Selection menu).
How to activate parental control?
Access the TV menu, select the Parental Control icon. The first time, use the default passcode 3355. You can then create your own 4-digit code. You can block channels or programs based on their rating (movie or TV).
Why is there no sound despite the image?
First check that Mute mode is not activated (press the Mute button on the remote). Make sure the audio cables are correctly connected (matching colors). Also verify that the audio input source is correct in the TV menu. If using an external device, test it on another TV.
How to use the PIP (picture in picture) function?
Press the PIP button on the remote to activate the mode. Use the SWAP button to swap images, and POS to change the PIP window position. You can also adjust transparency, size, and position in the TV menu under PIP/PBP/POP option.
Can I use my Dell TV as a computer monitor?
Yes, connect your computer to the VGA connector on the back of the TV using a VGA cable. Also connect the stereo RCA audio cable to the AV IN (L/R) audio connectors. Then select the VGA input source in the TV menu. The native resolution is 1366 x 768.
How to reset to factory settings?
Press the Menu button on the remote or front panel. Select the Config icon, then choose Factory reset. Confirm to restore default settings.
What to do if the remote control does not work?
Point the remote at the infrared receiver located at the bottom right of the TV. Check that no obstacles block the signal. Replace the batteries (three AAA batteries) if they are worn. Bright lights or other infrared devices may interfere; move them away.
How to connect an antenna or TV cable?
Connect the coaxial cable (antenna or cable) to the TV IN connector at the bottom of the TV. Turn on the TV, access the TV menu and select Digital TV or Analog TV in the Input Selection menu. Then perform a channel scan in the Channel Configuration menu.

When your computer is connected to the TV through VGA connector you can use the self-test feature to check whether your TV is functioning properly. If your TV and computer are properly connected but the TV screen remains dark, run the TV self-test by performing the following steps:

1 Turn off both your computer and the TV.
2 Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
3 Turn on the TV.

If the TV cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly, the floating "Dell - Self-Test Feature Check" dialog box appears on the screen (against a black background).

While in self-test mode, the power light remains blue and the self-test pattern scrolls through the screen continually. This box also appears during normal system operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged.

4 Turn off your TV and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the TV. If your TV screen remains blank, the problem may be with your computer or graphic card.
