THE USE Before use x Remove all packaging materials. x Make sure the device is disconnected from the power supply. x Clean the outside of the device with a soft cloth. Wash all parts that come into contact with food in warm, soapy water. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. x Inspect the power cord and plug for damage before each use. Do not use the device if the power cord or the device is damaged or not working properly. x Never switch off the device by turning the blender jar, the food processor bowl or the juice extractor bowl. Always switch off the device by turning the knob to ‘off’. x Wait until moving parts stop running before you remove the lid of the bowl or blender jar. x Do not exceed the maximum content indicated on the food processor bowl or the blender jar. x Do not use the juice extractor if the sieve is damaged. x Do not process hot ingredients in the device. Cool them down first. Operation Take care: x The device is suited with a safety lock. The device can only be switched on if the blender jar with blade unit, the food processor bowl or the juice extractor bowl is correctly assembled on the motor unit. x Use this device only to prepare food. x Place the device on a stable and flat surface. 18x If the device is connected to the power supply, a blue LED light will light up around the knob. Blender Take care: x Ensure that the sealing ring is assembled onto the blade unit before the blade unit is placed in the blender jar. x Always let the device cool down to room temperature after you have processed two batches. x Never open the lid when the blade rotates. Use and tips: x To add liquid ingredients during processing: pour the ingredients in the blender jar through the hole in the lid. x Pre-cut solid ingredients into smaller pieces before you process them. x If you want to prepare a large quantity, process small batches of ingredients instead of a large quantity at once. x Use cooked ingredients when you blend a soup. x When you add a liquid that is hot or tends to foam (e.g. milk), do not put more than 1 litre in the blender jar to avoid spillage. x If you are not satisfied with the result, switch off the device and stir the ingredients with a spatula. Remove some of the contents to process a smaller quantity or add some liquid. x If ingredients stick to the wall of the blender jar: o Switch off the device and unplug it. o Remove the lid and use a spatula to remove the ingredients from the wall of the blender jar. o Keep the spatula at a safe distance from the blades.
19Chopping Take care: x Ensure that the food processor blade is assembled in the bowl before you start to add the ingredients. x Do not let the device run too long when you chop (hard) cheese or chocolate. Otherwise these ingredients become too hot, start to melt and turn lumpy. x Do not use the blade unit to chop very hard ingredients such as coffee beans, nutmeg, turmeric and ice cubes. This may cause the blade to become blunt. Use and tips: x Chopping onions: use the pulse function a few times to prevent the onions from becoming too finely chopped. x If ingredients stick to the wall of the blender jar: o Switch off the device and unplug it. o Remove the lid and use a spatula to remove the ingredients from the wall of the blender jar. o Keep the spatula at a safe distance from the blades.
20Kneading Take care: x Ensure that the kneading accessory is assembled in the bowl before you start to add the ingredients.
Discs Take care: x Do not exert too much pressure on the pusher when you press ingredients down the feeding tube. x Do not let the device run too long when you shred (hard) cheese. Otherwise the cheese becomes too hot, starts to melt and turns lumpy. x Do not use the shredding disc to shred chocolate. Use the food processor blade for this purpose. x Do not fill the bowl beyond the ‘MAX’ indication. Use and tips x Pre-cut large ingredients to make them fit into the feeding tube. x Fill the feeding tube evenly for the best result. x When you want to process a large amount of ingredients, process small batches and empty the bowl between batches. x Use a low speed to shred or granulate soft ingredients, to prevent the ingredients from turning into a puree. x If the ingredients you are going to shred or slice have a small diameter, put the outer pusher in the feeding tube to make the feeding tube smaller. Then use the inner pusher to push the ingredients down the feeding tube. 21x Adjustable slicing disc: o The adjustable slicing disc allows you to cut ingredients to any thickness you like. o The slicing disc is very sharp. Do not touch the cutting edge. o Insert the disc into the top of the carrier. o Attach the adjusting knob to the bottom of the disc and turn it to the position marked with a dot to lock it. o Turn the adjusting knob to set the slicing disc to the preferred slicing thickness.
Beating Take care: x Do not use the balloon beater to prepare cake mixtures with butter or margarine or to knead dough. Use the kneading accessory for these jobs. Use and tips: x The balloon beater can be used to whip cream and to whisk eggs, egg whites, instant pudding, mayonnaise and sponge cake mixtures. x Make sure the bowl and the balloon beater are dry and free from grease when you whisk egg whites. The egg whites have to be at room temperature. x Clean the balloon beater after every use.
22Juice extractor Take care: x Never insert your hand or any object (e.g. a fork, knife, spoon or spatula) into the feeding tube. Only use the pusher supplied with the device for this purpose. x Wait until the sieve has completely stopped rotating before you remove the lid. x Check the sieve before every use. Do not use the juice extractor if you notice any damage like cracks, crazes or a loose grating disc. Use and tips x Peel citrus fruits, pineapples, melons, etc. before you juice them. x Stone cherries, plums, apricots, peaches, etc. before you juice them.
