WARNING: DO NOT carbonate with any bottle not specifically designed to work with this

Drinks Maker. The PLAY™Drinks Maker is designed to work with all 1L SodaStream carbonating bottles as well as the 0.5L carbonating bottle marked ‘Source’. SodaStream glass carbonating bottles and 0.5L bottles that are not marked ‘Source’ are not compatible with the PLAY™Drinks Maker and should not be used. Only suitable SodaStream carbonating bottles should be used with the PLAY™Drinks Maker. Close adult supervision is necessary when the Drinks Maker is used by children. GENERAL WARNINGS

WARNING: Use the Drinks Maker on a flat, stable surface away from sources of heat. DO

NOT place the Drinks Maker on a hot surface (e.g. oven hob) and never use it close to an open flame.

WARNING: DO NOT carbonate an empty bottle.

Carbonating bottle must be properly in place before operating the Drinks Maker. DO NOT move Drinks Maker during the carbonation process. DO NOT remove the carbonating bottle during the carbonation process. To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage, any servicing or repair should be performed by a SodaStream-authorised service representative. CO CYLINDERS

DANGER: A CO leak can lead to carbon dioxide poisoning. In the event of a CO leak,

ventilate the area, breathe fresh air and if feeling unwell seek immediate medical attention.

WARNING: Inspect the cylinder prior to use for any dents, punctures, or other damage. If any

are detected DO NOT use the cylinder and contact a SodaStream-authorised service representative.

WARNING: Mishandling the cylinder can result in serious personal injury.

DO NOT throw the cylinder or cause it to fall. DO NOT handle a cylinder while it is discharging CO .

WARNING: Unless the SodaStream carbonating bottle is identified by a prominent

OTHERWISE EXPOSE IT TO HEAT ABOVE 120 F (49 C) OR EXTREME COLD BELOW 34 F (1 C). DO NOT rinse the bottle in hot water. DO NOT place the bottle next to a heat source such as your oven hob. DO NOT leave the bottle in your car. DO NOT place the bottle in the freezer. Doing so will compromise the integrity of the carbonating bottle material and may result in serious personal injury and damage to the Drinks Maker.

WARNING: DO NOT use a carbonating bottle if changes in shape have occurred, as that

indicates the bottle is damaged. DO NOT use carbonating bottles that are scratched, worn, discoloured, or damaged in any way.

WARNING: SodaStream carbonating bottles are clearly marked with an expiration date near

the bottom of the bottle. DO NOT use bottles after their expiration date. Recycle and replace expired bottles in accordance with local recycling laws. Rinse carbonating bottle with cold or lukewarm water before first use. CARBONATION

Get your PLAY™Drinks Maker up and runningWHAT’S INSIDE

The package includes the SodaStream PLAY™Drinks Maker, Starter CO Cylinder and a reusable

BPA-Free carbonating bottle with fizz-preserving cap. Flavour samples may be included.

Includes a 15L Starter cylinder (under licence). Once empty, the Starter cylinder can be exchanged for a full 60L cylinder for the price of the gas only. This PLAY™ Drinks Maker is also compatible with the SodaStream 40L, 60L and 130L cylinders. A 15L Starter cylinder makes up to 15L of sparkling water, a 40L cylinder makes up to 40L of sparkling water, a 60L cylinder makes up to 60L of sparkling water, and a 130L cylinder makes up to 130L of sparkling water, depending on the level of carbonation and type of Drinks Maker used.

Actual shape of bottle may differ. A dishwasher-safe carbonating bottle may be included and is identified by its 'Dishwasher-Safe' marking.

CARBONATING BLOCK SNAP-LOCK BOTTLE MECHANISM CARBONATING TUBE BOTTLE REST BASE CYLINDER HOLLOW WITH CYLINDER ADAPTOR COLLAR1. Place the PLAY™Drinks Maker on a flat, sturdy surface, then gently lay it down on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards.

2. Remove seal and cap from the

Remove the carbonating bottle stored inside the PLAY™and then insert the CO cylinder into the

opening of the cylinder hollow at

the base of the PLAY Drinks Maker and turn the CO cylinder

clockwise while applying gentle pressure until it is firmly held in place. Hand-tighten only; do not use tools.

If the PLAY Drinks Maker is not laying on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards, a safety gate will block the cylinder hollow and you will not be able to fully insert the cylinder. If using a 130L cylinder, remove the cylinder adaptor collar by pulling it out from the base of the unit.

3. Place your PLAY™Drinks Maker

back in the upright position. You are ready to create the bubbles.

71. Prior to making sparkling water, fill the

carbonating bottle with cold water up to the fill line.

2. To insert the carbonating bottle, make sure that

the carbonating block is in its fully upward position and the bottle rest is angled forward. If it isn’t already angled forward, pull it towards you until it clicks. Do not pull the carbonating tube. Insert the carbonating bottle neck into the Snap- Lock. Push the bottle up and back. The Snap-Lock mechanism will catch the bottle and hold it in a vertical position.*

3. Push down the carbonating block, hold for 1-2

seconds and release. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position, then repeat to obtain stronger levels of carbonation. (See ‘Carbonating Levels’ section.)

4. When the desired level of carbonation is

achieved, with the carbonating block in its fully upward position pull the bottle towards you to release it from the Snap-Lock. Enjoy! Fill Line 1st 2nd 3rd 1st 3rd 2nd

*When inserted correctly there is a gap between the bottom of the carbonating bottle and the base. DO NOT CARBONATE if the carbonating bottle is resting on the base or the water will splash out.For LIGHT FIZZ – Push down the carbonating block, hold for 1-2 seconds, release, and wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position. Remove the carbonating bottle only when the carbonating block is in its fully upward position. For MEDIUM FIZZ – A total of 2 presses will provide you with medium fizz. On each press, hold down for 1-2 seconds. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position between each press and before removing the carbonating bottle. For HIGH FIZZ – A total of 3 presses will provide you with high fizz. On each press, hold down for 1-2 seconds. Wait for the carbonating block to return to its fully upward position between each press and before removing the carbonating bottle. For high fizz, and for maximum utilisation of CO , use cold water. (Do not use ice-cold water).

COLD WATER: If this happens, shorten the time of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice created will simply melt.10

DRINKS AT HOME, READY IN JUST SECONDS. Many great-tasting flavours to choose from.Sodamix SodaStream Caps™ For SodaStream Caps: After making sparkling water place a SodaStream Cap on the top of the open carbonating bottle and press down firmly. Flavour will be released and dissolved. Once emptied, remove the SodaStream Cap and recycle it. Enjoy! For Sodamix Bottles: After making sparkling water hold the open carbonating bottle at an angle and slowly add the desired flavour by pouring it slowly and carefully down the inside wall of the bottle. Close with the fizz-preserving cap and tighten, then mix with a gentle shake. Enjoy!

  • Never use abrasive cleaners or sharp tools to clean. If needed, use a mild dish soap liquid and a soft damp cloth to gently clean.
  • Wipe spills to keep base dry.
  • DO NOT place in water or wash in a dishwasher. Doing so will seriously damage your Drinks Maker.
  • Rinse carbonating bottles with cold or lukewarm water, but never rinse with hot water. If needed, use a mild dish soap liquid or SodaStream bottle cleaning tablets and a soft-bristled brush to clean.
  • Every SodaStream carbonating bottle has an expiration date printed on it. DO NOT use the bottle after this date.
  • Replacement SodaStream carbonating bottles are available wherever SodaStream products are sold.

EXCHANGING YOUR CYLINDER

The SodaStream CO cylinder is provided to you under licence. The licence allows you to exchange your

empty cylinder for a full one for the price of the gas content only, at a participating SodaStream authorised retailer. Follow instructions to replace the cylinder in the 'Install the CO cylinder' section.

For a list of local retailers near you and ordering information visit us at www.sodastream.com and choose 'Select your country'. TROUBLESHOOTING Before you call for service, please check the list of problems and solutions below: DRINKS MAKER DOES NOT CARBONATE:

  • You might be out of gas; replace your cylinder.
  • Cylinder may be loose. Remove the carbonating bottle, place the PLAY Drinks Maker on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards to access the cylinder inside the cylinder hollow through the base. Retighten the cylinder by hand. DO NOT use tools. Apply firm pressure but do not over tighten. If the cylinder is already firmly in place, it may be empty. Replace with a full cylinder.
  • Check that the carbonating bottle has been filled up with water to the fill line.
  • Ensure that the Drinks Maker is in the upright position. CANNOT PULL BOTTLE REST:
  • Make sure that the carbonating block is in its fully upward position.
  • Pull the bottle rest firmly towards you. CARE 12CANNOT INSERT THE CARBONATING BOTTLE INTO THE SNAP-LOCK:
  • Make sure that the carbonating block is in its fully upward position.
  • Pull the bottle rest towards you until it clicks into its fully forward position. Insert bottle into Snap-Lock. Push bottle up and back until it locks. YOU HEAR GAS ESCAPING FROM THE CARBONATING BOTTLE:
  • The carbonating bottle may not be properly attached. Allow the Drinks Maker to finish the carbonation process and then you can detach the bottle and reconnect it. Follow the instructions in the ’Create the Bubbles’ section.
  • It is normal to hear a small amount of gas released at the end of the carbonation process. WANT TO RE-CARBONATE A DRINK THAT WAS ALREADY CARBONATED:
  • WARNING: FOR YOUR SAFETY, NEVER carbonate again after adding the flavour. You may recarbonate only plain or sparkling unflavoured water. YOUR DRINKS MAKER CONTINUES TO RELEASE GAS AFTER CARBONATION IS FINISHED:
  • WARNING: Do not remove the cylinder or the bottle. Leave the Drinks Maker in an upright position. Do not touch it until you no longer hear gas escaping. When the Drinks Maker is no longer releasing gas, remove the carbonating bottle and contact your local SodaStream Customer Service Center.

area, breathe fresh air and if feeling unwell seek immediate medical attention. YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF LEAKING GAS AFTER INSTALLING A NEW CYLINDER INTO THE DRINKS MAKER:

  • Screw the cylinder tighter into its fitting. DO NOT use tools. YOU EXPERIENCE POOR CARBONATION:
  • WARNING: DO NOT re-carbonate after adding flavour.
  • If you have not yet added flavour, carbonate again to a higher carbonation level.
  • Carbonate using cold water.
  • If you still experience poor carbonation you may be out of gas. Replace the cylinder. WATER OVERFLOWS FROM THE CARBONATING BOTTLE DURING CARBONATION:
  • Check that the carbonating bottle is filled just to the fill line.
  • Verify that the carbonating bottle is firmly installed in the Snap-Lock. Check by gently pulling the bottom of the bottle. If it feels loose, then remove and reinsert. YOUR SPARKLING DRINK IS NOT FLAVOURFUL ENOUGH:
  • Just add more flavour to taste!
  • WARNING: DO NOT re-carbonate after adding the flavour. SMALL PIECES OF ICE APPEAR IN THE WATER DURING CARBONATION:
  • This might happen when carbonating very cold water. If this happens, shorten the time of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice created will simply melt. YOU CANNOT FULLY INSERT THE CYLINDER INTO THE CYLINDER HOLLOW:
  • Make sure the Drinks Maker is lying on its back with the carbonating block facing upwards to ensure the safety gate within the cylinder hollow is open. Still having trouble? Great care has been taken to ensure that your Drinks Maker was delivered to you in good condition. SodaStream warrants, subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this limited warranty, that your Drinks Maker will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for twenty four (24) months following the date of purchase. It is recommended that you register your Drinks Maker online by visiting www.sodastream.com and choosing ‘Select your country’, or send in the product registration postcard that came with your Drinks Maker. If your Drinks Maker malfunctions within the 24 month warranty period, and we determine the problem is due to faulty workmanship or materials, SodaStream will repair or replace it free of charge at SodaStream’s discretion. SodaStream may replace your Drinks Maker with a reconditioned Drinks Maker, or an equivalent one if the model you purchased is no longer available. No refunds shall be given. This limited warranty is available to consumers who purchased a SodaStream Drinks Maker at retail for personal, family or household use. This warranty DOES NOT cover:

  • Abuse, misuse, alteration of the Drinks Maker, or commercial use;
  • Damage resulting from carbonating liquids other than water;
  • Normal wear and tear (e.g. discolouration);
  • Product malfunctions that were a result, in whole or in part, by alteration, disassembly, or repair of the Drinks Maker by a servicer other than an authorised SodaStream Service Centre;
  • Damage resulting from the use of cylinders or carbonating bottles other than those approved by SodaStream for use with your Drinks Maker;
  • Damage resulting from use of the Drinks Maker with an adapter valve;
  • Damage resulting from the use of an expired carbonating bottle;
  • Damage caused by accident, shipment or anything other than normal household use;
  • The carbonating bottles and cylinders. SodaStream is not liable for incidental or consequential damages. The consumers' sole and exclusive remedy shall be repair or replacement according to the terms and conditions of this warranty. To the extent that this warranty is inconsistent with local law, this warranty shall be deemed modified to be consistent with such local law. The benefits given to the consumer by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies that may be afforded to the consumer by law in relation to this Drinks Maker.

TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE

If your Drinks Maker is in need of warranty service, please contact your local SodaStream Customer Service by visiting our website at www.sodastream.com and choosing ‘Select your country’. A SodaStream representative will give you specific instructions on how to arrange for the shipment of your Drinks Maker, at your expense, to one of our authorised service centres. Only SodaStream, or its agents, are authorised to provide warranty repairs or service to your Drinks Maker. Repair by a third party voids the warranty. NON-WARRANTY SERVICE If SodaStream or its authorised agents determine that the malfunction or damage is not covered by the warranty, SodaStream will repair the Drinks Maker only upon payment of the determined repair charge. AUSTRALIA SodaStream Warranty – Additional Information SodaStream’s products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The warranty period shall be for 24 months from the date of purchase, which means that a major defect in the product and the consumer’s submission of a related warranty claim must be made within that period. The benefits to the consumer given by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies that may be afforded to the consumer by law in relation this product. APPLICABLE LAW Any and all claims, complaints, demands for judgment or legal actions brought hereunder relating in any way to your Drinks Maker shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the local laws of the country in which the SodaStream Drinks Maker was purchased. SODASTREAM CYLINDERS Your Drinks Maker has been designed to operate with a genuine SodaStream cylinder. The use of other CO

cylinders is not recommended as they may not be compatible with this SodaStream Drinks Maker. Damages resulting from the use of a cylinder other than a SodaStream cylinder are not covered by the warranty. Replacement cylinders are available from authorised SodaStream retailers.

SODASTREAM CARBONATING BOTTLES

Your Drinks Maker has been designed to operate with a suitable SodaStream carbonating bottle. Damages resulting from the use of a bottle other than a suitable SodaStream carbonating bottle are not covered by the warranty. Before each use, check the expiration date on the carbonating bottle. Replace expired carbonating bottles with new ones. Please recycle your expired carbonating bottles in accordance with local recycling laws.
