English SAFETY WARNINGS When using household appliances, it is essential to always follow the safety precautions, including the following:
- Before using the product, check that the appliance is intact without visible damage. If in doubt, do not use the appliance and contact your dealer.
- Keep the packaging away from children: danger of suffocation.
- Before connecting the appliance, make sure the mains voltage corresponds with the voltage on the plate located on the base of the appliance.
- This appliance must be used only for its intended purpose and according to the instructions for use. All other uses shall be considered improper and therefore hazardous. The manufacturer shall not be deemed liable for any damage caused by inappropriate or incorrect use.
- This device may be used by children aged 8 years and over.
- The use and maintenance of this appliance can only be performed by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or by inexperienced persons, under appropriate supervision by an adult. Children must not play with the device.
- Keep the appliance and its cable away from children under 8 years of age. NEVER leave the appliance unattended while it is on. After use, switch it off and unplug it.
- In case of a fault and/or malfunction, switch off the appliance without tampering with it. Always contact the retailer for repairs. DO NOT use the appliance with a damaged power cable or plug, or after it has malfunctioned or been dropped or damaged in any way. DO NOT connect or disconnect the appliance and DO NOT use it with wet or damp hands. DO NOT pull the power cable or the power base to unplug the appliance.
- Treat the product with care, protect it from impacts, extreme variations in temperature, humidity, dust, direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Unplug it immediately after use and always before cleaning. Allow the appliance to cool down before adding or removing parts and before cleaning it.
- To protect yourself against electrical hazards, do not immerse the cable, plug, power base or the appliance itself in water or other liquids.16
- If an electrical appliance falls into water, do not attempt to extract it, but immediately remove the plug from the power socket. Attention! Do NOT tamper with the power cord for any reason. In the event of damage, contact your dealer. Unwind the cable completely. DO NOT allow the cable to hang over the edge of the table or worktop or touch hot surfaces. NEVER use adapters for supply voltages other than those indicated on the data label attached under the appliance. DO NOT use the appliance outdoors.
ATTENTION! BEFORE USING THIS DEVICE
DO NOT use the appliance for purposes other than boiling water. Other liquids may contaminate the inside of the kettle. DO NOT touch the heated surfaces. Use the handles or knobs.
- Using accessories not recommended by the manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or physical injuries. DO NOT place the appliance on or near a gas or electric burner, or in a hot oven. DO NOT close the spout while water is flowing. Be very careful when handling an appliance containing hot liquids. DO NOT use the kettle without its lid in place. If the lid is left open while the kettle is hot, you may suffer burns.
- Make sure that the drip tray is always in place and that a cup is on the drip tray when the water dispensing door is open. Keep your hands away from the water dispensing door when it is open.
- Always close the water spout before removing the kettle from the base to avoid the risk of scalding due to any residual water in the spout after boiling a cup. DO NOT fill the kettle above the MAX level. If the kettle is filled above the preset level, boiling water may spill out.
- This appliance must be used only with the power base provided. DO NOT wet the power base and/or its connector. Surfaces may become hot during use. After use, the surface of the heating elements is subject to residual heat.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
INSTALLATION A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.The extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so
that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over. USING THE PRODUCT FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove the packaging material and remove any stickers.
2. Make sure that the filter is installed in the kettle.
3. When using the product for the first time, clean it as described in the
“Cleaning and maintenance” paragraph.
4. Connect the power base to a socket.
5. Fill the kettle with cold tap water up to the maximum level “MAX”. Boil the
water and discard it. Repeat this operation two or three times.
6. Now the kettle is ready for use.
NEVER plug the kettle in when it is empty. DO NOT use the appliance for purposes other than boiling water. Other liquids may contaminate the inside of the kettle. DO NOT fill the kettle when it is on its power base already plugged in. DO NOT fill the kettle beyond the MAX level indicated on it. Overfilling may cause water to spill out when it boils. DO NOT attempt to connect other appliances to the power base or tamper with the connector in any way.
1. Place the power base on a flat, dry and heat-resistant surface.
2. Open the lid by pressing the lid release button and fill with water up to the
minimum level "MIN” (0.75 L).

7. Press the power button “I” on the lid: the white indicator light, which can
be seen through the water level window, will light up. This light indicates
that the boiling cycle has started. When the water has boiled, the light turns off and the kettle switches off. To switch the kettle off at any time, press the stop button “O”. IMPORTANT:
- The kettle switches off automatically when the boiling cycle is complete.
- If the kettle is removed from its base before the boiling cycle is complete, the kettle will switch off automatically.
- To switch the kettle off before the end of the boiling cycle, press the stop button “O”. DO NOT open the lid when the kettle is hot. If you want to use the kettle again, allow the safety thermal switch to cool down for 60 seconds, then press the power button “I”. If the kettle is switched on by mistake when it is empty, the thermostat will automatically perform an on/off cycle to prevent overheating. If this situation occurs, press the stop button “O” and unplug the kettle immediately. Allow the kettle to cool down before refilling it.
8. After use, put the kettle back on its base or on a heat-resistant surface.

and press the power button “I”.
6. When the water boils, it is automatically poured into the cup from the
water dispensing door and the kettle switches off. IMPORTANT:
- The kettle switches off automatically when the boiling cycle is complete.
7. Close the water dispensing door.
8. Unplug the power cable when not in use.
9. Empty out the drip tray when necessary.
DO NOT close the water dispensing door while water is being dispensed, ALWAYS wait until it has finished dispensing. ALWAYS close the water spout before removing the kettle from its base. The dispenser will be hot to the touch after dispensing. If the kettle is removed from its base before the boiling cycle is complete, the kettle will switch off automatically. If the kettle is switched on by mistake when it is empty, the thermostat will automatically perform an on/off cycle to prevent overheating. If this situation occurs, press the stop button “O” and unplug the kettle immediately. Allow the kettle to cool down before refilling it.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning the appliance, allow it to cool down completely.
- Unplug the power base. Empty out the kettle and allow it to cool down before cleaning it.
- Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and dry it carefully. DO NOT use abrasive detergents. DO NOT immerse the kettle or the power base in water or any other liquid.
- Rinse the drip tray with running water and dry it thoroughly. DESCALING In conditions of normal use, limescale builds up inside the kettle and coats the stainless steel plate. The limescale build-up inside the kettle must be removed.
- Pour 500 ml of water and 500 ml of white wine vinegar into the kettle and press the power button “I” to boil. Leave the boiled mixture to stand for several hours or overnight. Discard the mixture and refill the kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Boil the water and discard it.20
- For a more noticeable build-up of limescale, use pure vinegar, boil and leave overnight. Discard the vinegar and refill the kettle to the MAX level with fresh water, boil and discard it.
- If there is still some limescale after using pure vinegar, use a specific product for descaling kettles (for food use) and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. NOTE:
- Limescale build-up can be reduced by removing the water after using the kettle and refilling it when necessary.
- The descaling process must be repeated periodically.
- The use of filtered water can help extend the life of the appliance and reduce limescale build-up. SPARE PARTS AVAILABLE:

- Filter: cod. AKJ001 DISPOSAL PROCEDURE The symbol on the bottom of the device indicates the separated collection of electric and electronic equipment (Dir. 2012/19/Eu- WEEE). At the end of life of the device, do not dispose it as mixed solid municipal waste, but dispose it referring to a specific collection centre located in your area or returning it to the distributor, when buying a new device of the same type to be used with the same functions. If the appliance to be disposed of is less than 25 cm, it can be returned to a retail location that is over 400 m² without having to purchase a new, similar device. This procedure of separated collection of electric and electronic devices is carried out forecasting a European environmental policy aiming at safeguarding, protecting and improving environment quality, as well as avoiding potential effects on human health due to the presence of hazardous substances in such equipment or to an improper use of the same or of parts of the same. Caution! The wrong disposal of electric and electronic equipment may involve sanctions.22
English This product is meant for domestic use. The conformity, certified by the CE-marking on the device, refers to the Directive 2014/30/Eu on electromagnetic compatibility, to the Directive 2014/35/Eu on electric material destined to be used within given voltage limits, on Directive 2011/65/ Eu on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and on Directive 2009/125/EC (ERP). This product is an electronic device that was tested to assure, according to the current technical knowledge, that it does not interfere with other nearby located equipment (electromagnetic compatibility) and that it is safe if used according to the advices given in the instructions for use. In case of operation anomalies, do not keep using the device and, if necessary, refer to the manufacturer directly. WARRANTY This appliance is guaranteed for 2 years from the time of delivery of the goods, or another longer term envisaged by the national legislation of the consumer's residence. This provision complies with Italian and European legislation. The Laica products are designed for home use and must not be used in public venues. The warranty only covers manufacturing defects and does not apply if the damage is caused by an accidental event, incorrect use, negligence or misuse of the product. Use only the accessories supplied; the use of different accessories may result in invalidity of the warranty. Do not open the unit for any reason; in the case of opening or tampering, the warranty is definitively voided. This warranty does not apply to parts subject to wear or to the batteries when supplied. After 2 years from delivery, or another longer term envisaged by the national legislation of the consumer's residence, the warranty expires; in this case, the technical assistance interventions will be carried out against a fee. Information on technical assistance, whether under warranty or for a fee, can be requested by contacting info@laica.com. No payment will be due for repairs or replacements of products that fall within the terms of the warranty. In the event of faults, contact the retailer. Do NOT send the appliance directly to LAICA. All the operations under warranty (including those of replacement of the product or part thereof) will not prolong the duration of the original period of warranty of the product replaced. The manufacturer declines any22
