UNOLD 18416 - SAFETY INFORMATION - 1

Caution!

Do not open the lid while the water is boiling. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water can splash out.

The manufacturer does not assume any warranty in case of improper or incorrect use or after repair by unauthorized third parties.

FIRST USE AND HANDLING

4. CAUTION!

  1. Plug the cord of the base into the mains.
  2. Remove the kettle from the base. Open the lid by pressing the black knob in the middle of the lid.
  3. Fill the kettle with water (minimum 0.5 litres, mark MIN, maximum 1.7 litres, mark MAX). For the first use fill up to the mark MAX.

Do not overfill. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

  1. Place the kettle level on the base in order to establish the contact with the power connection.
  2. Close the lid with light pressure until it clicks into place. The locking avoids an accidental opening of the lid when pouring out water.
  3. Switch on the kettle by pressing the key downwards and bring the water to boil. The base with be lighted. This lighted base serves as operation control lamp.

  4. Pour away water from first boiling.

  5. The kettle is automatically switched off when the water boils and the base lighting = control lamp turns out. However, boiling can be stopped by operating the ON/OFF switch or by lifting the kettle from the base.

10. ATTENTION!

The automatic shutoff only works, if the lid is correctly closed.

  1. The kettle is switched off automatically as soon as the kettle is lifted from the base.
  2. After an adequate cooling-off period the water can once again be brought to boil by pressing ON the switch.
  3. The kettle is fitted with a dry-operation shutoff which switches off the heating element when it becomes too hot, for instance when the kettle has boiled dry. Allow the kettle to cool down. Then fill the kettle with cold water. This will reset the shutoff so that the kettle can be used again.

CLEANING AND CARE

  1. Always disconnect the plug from the mains before cleaning the kettle and base.
  2. Base, cable and kettle must never be immersed into water.
  3. Wipe the kettle and base with a moist cloth and a drop of washing-up liquid. Never use an aggressive scouring or steel wool.
  4. Cable and plug must be dried completely before being used again.
  5. Descale the kettle regularly, possibly once a week, depending on the hardness of the water and the frequency of use. Scale significantly diminishes the heating performance of the kettle.
  6. To descale fill half the kettle with a mixture of water and vinegar. Bring to the boil and then leave it to stand overnight. Next day

pour away and fill the kettle with fresh water and bring to the boil again. This water must also be poured away. Rinse twice with fresh water and wipe with a towel.

  1. Normal commercial descalers for kettles can also be used. Follow the instructions for the respective descaler.
  2. To clean the filter, empty the kettle and let it cool down.
  3. Then pull the filter out of the spout.
  4. Clean it with a soft brush or place it for some time in a dish with descaler or vinegar solution. Then rinse it thoroughly with clear water and place it into the spout again. Please be careful not to damage the filter mesh.
