Safety instructions
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental capabilities or with insufficient experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions on the use of the appliance from such a person.
Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appli-ance.
Inspect the appliance for visible signs of damage before use. Do not use a damaged appliance.
Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation.
Only allow repairs to the appliance ■ to be carried out by an authorised specialist or by the works customer service; this particularly applies to replacing a damaged connecting cable. Unqualified repairs can lead to considerable danger for the user. This will also invalidate the warranty or guarantee.

Never lift or move the appliance with the mains cable.
Do not cut food on the grill plate.
Only use spoons and spatulas for turning over food that are suitable for non-stick surfaces.
Requirements for the place of use
For safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance, the place of operation must satisfy the following requirements:
Place the appliance on a level, heat ■ resistant surface that is also resistant to splashing fat.
The surface finishes on furniture may contain substances that can be detrimental to the rubber feet of the appliance. If necessary, place a mat under the feet of the appliance.
Do not place the appliance in a hot, ■ wet or very humid environment or in the vicinity of inflammable materials.
There must be a gap of at least 15 cm between the appliance and any walls, furniture or other objects.
Select a location that does not allow ■ children to reach the hot surfaces of the appliance.
The mains socket must be easily accessible and allow fast disconnection in the event of an emergency.
Do not operate the appliance directly underneath a smoke detector and ensure that there is sufficient ventilation in order to avoid triggering a false alarm.
Electrical connection
For safe and trouble-free operation of the appliance, the following instructions on the electrical connection must be observed:
Before connecting the appliance, ■ compare the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your mains power supply. The data must correspond in order to avoid damage to the appliance. If in doubt, ask your electrical appliance retailer.
The mains socket must be protected by at least a 16A automatic circuit breaker.
Ensure that the mains cable is undamaged and is not laid over sharp edges.
The mains cable must not be pulled ■ tightly, bent or come into contact with hot surfaces.
Route the mains cable to prevent risk of tripping.
■ The appliance may not be used when connected to an extension cable.
The appliance may only be used with an intact connecting plug.
Do not immerse the appliance in water.
■The electrical safety of the appliance is only assured when it is connected to a properly installed protective earth (PE) conductor system. Connection to a mains socket without PE conductor is forbidden. If in doubt, the electrical system must be checked by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer assumes no liability for injury or damage caused by a missing or interrupted protective earth conductor.

Thermostat
Proceed as follows to set the temperature: Turn the thermostat (7) to set the desired temperature:

NOTE
The grilling surface (2) has a ceramic non-stick coating. It prevents food from sticking. It is also resistant to scratching, high temperatures, can be cleaned easily and is environment friendly.
Startup
Unpacking
Remove the appliance, all accessory parts and the user manual from the box.
Remove all packaging materials and protective foils from the product and the accessories before using it for the first time.
NOTE
Do not remove the rating plate or any warning signs on the appliance.
Keep the original packaging during the warranty or guarantee period in order to return the appliance in the packaging in the event of a warranty or guarantee claim. Transport damage will invalidate the warranty or guarantee.
Checking the delivery contents
Check for visible signs of damage or missing items.
Report incomplete or damaged contents to your supplier immediately.
Prior to first use
Clean the appliance as described in the section Cleaning and care (page 20).
Insert the thermostat plug (6) into the socket of the appliance.
Insert the mains plug into the mains socket and set the thermostat (7) to maximum power. The control indicator (8) lights up.
After reaching the set temperature, ◆ the control indicator (8) extinguishes.
NOTE
When using for the first time, it is possible that production-related additives such as grease could cause slight odour or smoke. This is completely normal. Ensure sufficient ventilation.
Turn the thermostat (3) to the "OFF" ♦ position.
Pull the plug out of the mains socket.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely.
Clean the appliance as described in the section Cleaning and care (page 20).
Operation and use
General instructions
The food should be at room temperature since frozen food requires longer to cook and can also dry out.
To achieve the best results, preheat ■ the grill until the required temperature has been reached and the control indicator (8) extinguishes.
Carefully monitor grilling and regulate the temperature – if necessary.
■You can use the appliance to cook various different foods such as steaks, sausages, seafood or vegetables.
■The appliance is particularly suitable for quick and fat-free preparation of food since these can be prepared without using fat.
Using the appliance
Switching on
Push the removable drip tray (3) into the opening on the back of the lower part of the housing until it snaps in.
Insert the thermostat plug (6) into the socket of the appliance.
Insert the plug into a mains socket.
Set the maximum temperature with the thermostat (7).
Allow the appliance to heat up after switching on. The operating temperature is reached in approx. 8 minutes.
The temperature has been reached ◆ when the control indicator (8) extinguishes.
Set the thermostat to a lower level ◆ and allow the appliance to cool down a little if you require a lower grilling temperature.
NOTE
The temperature timer settings can be changed at any time during grilling.
The white grill plate can turn yellow if you grill for longer periods at very high temperatures. The grill plate will turn white again after it has cooled down.
After using
Set the thermostat to the "OFF" position.
Pull the plug out of the mains socket.
Use a damp cloth or sponge to remove ■ stubborn stains when the grill plate is warm but not hot.
Allow the appliance to cool down ■ and clean it as described in the section Cleaning and maintenance. (page 20).
Cleaning and care
Before beginning any work, pay attention to the safety instructions in the section Safety instructions (page 15)!
■The appliance must be cleaned after each use.
■Clean the appliance as soon as it has cooled down. Waiting too long makes cleaning unnecessarily difficult.
■ Leftovers that stick to the grill plate can burn into the coating if not cleaned correctly.
Grill plate
◆Wipe the grill plate with a damp cloth or sponge and a little washing-up liquid and then with a damp cloth without washing-up liquid.
Drip tray
Remove the drip tray (3), empty it and wash with warm water or in a dish-washer.
Housing
Wipe the housing with a damp cloth or sponge.
Storage
If you do not intend to use the appliance for a longer period of time, clean it as described in the section Cleaning and care (section 20).
Store the appliance and all accessory parts at a dry, clean and frost-free location which is protected against direct sunlight.
