Frequently Asked Questions - WaffelStar BEEM

How to use the waffle maker for the first time?
Before first use, clean the plates with a damp cloth. Lightly grease them with vegetable oil, then heat the appliance to position 6 for a few minutes. Let it cool, clean again, and it is ready. Important: a slight smoke or odor may occur during the first heating, this is normal.
How to adjust the cooking temperature?
Turn the temperature control to one of the 6 levels (1 = low, 6 = high). The green light turns on when the set temperature is reached. For crispy waffles, start at level 3 and adjust according to your preferences.
What to do if the batter overflows on the sides?
This happens if you put too much batter or if the batter contains too much leavening agent. Reduce the amount of batter (fill just enough to cover the lower plate) and decrease the amount of leavening in your recipe.
How to clean the non-stick plates?
Let the appliance cool down. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth or a non-abrasive sponge. Never use abrasive detergents, metal objects, or chemical products to preserve the coating.
Can I use metal utensils on the plates?
No, only use heat-resistant plastic or wooden utensils to avoid scratching the non-stick coating.
What to do if the red light does not turn on?
First check the circuit breaker of your electrical installation. If the problem persists, the indicator may be defective; contact after-sales service.
How to store the waffle maker after use?
Clean it and let it dry completely. Wrap the cable around the cord storage provided. Store it in a dry place, away from frost and direct sunlight.
Does the appliance have an automatic shut-off?
The manual does not mention an automatic shut-off. It is recommended to not leave the appliance unattended while operating and to unplug it after use.
How long does it take to cook a waffle?
The time depends on the temperature level. For example, at level 1, allow about 6-7 minutes; at level 3, about 3 minutes; at level 6, about 40 seconds. Check the cooking by briefly lifting the lid.
Where can I find recipes for this waffle maker?
A basic recipe (butter waffles) is provided in the manual. You will also find a recipe book included with the appliance, or additional recipes on the BEEM website.

◆ Remove all packaging materials and protective foils from the appliance and the accessories before using it for the first time.

NOTE

Do not remove the rating plate ▶ any warning signs on the appliance.

Keep the original packaging during the warranty or guarantee period in order to return the appliance in the packaging in the event of a warranty or guarantee claim. Transport damage will invalidate the warranty or guarantee.

Check the delivery contents

Check for visible signs of damage or missing items.

Report incomplete or damaged contents to your supplier immediately.

Before using for the first time

Wipe the hot plates (8 and 9) with a ◆ damp cloth.

Lightly oil the hot plates with vegetable oil and fold the lid down.

Turn the temperature regulator (4) to position 6.

Insert the plug into a mains socket. The red power indicator (3) lights up and the appliance starts heating. This can take a few minutes.

NOTE

When using for the first time, it is possible that production-related additives such as grease could cause slight odour or smoke. This is completely normal. Ensure sufficient ventilation.

Wait until the green temperature indicator (2) lights up.

Pull the plug out of the mains socket and allow the appliance to cool down completely.

Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth.

General notes

The waffle mixture should have a thick texture but still smoothly flow off the spoon.

To prevent the waffles from softening, do not lay the finished waffles on top of each other.

Use fresh ingredients only. ■

■The ingredients used should be at room temperature.

Waffles taste best when they are fresh-ly prepared.

Do not use too much baking powder.

■Only fill the lower hot plate with enough mixture so that it is just covered. Use a dipping spoon for thin waffle mixtures and a tablespoon for thick waffle mixtures.

■ Work quickly so that the waffle mixture does not burn onto the lower hotplate.

NOTE

The heating plates (8) and (9) are provided with a ceramic non-stick coating. It prevents the waffle mixture from sticking. It is also resistant to scratching, high temperatures, can be easily cleaned and is environment friendly.

Baking times

The baking time depends on the mixture and the selected setting on the temperature regulator.

The baking time for a thick but smoothly flowing mixture

is 6 - 7 minutes at level 1, ■

3 minutes at level 3, ■

and approximately 40 seconds at level

6, which allows quick preparation of tasty waffles - without long waiting times.

Recipe suggestion

Butter waffles (approx. 10 waffles)

150 g of soft butter ■

60 g of sugar ■

2 packets of vanilla sugar ■

3 eggs ■

200 g of flour ■

12 teaspoon of baking powder ■

14 I of milk ■

Allow the butter to melt and cool down again. Stir in the vanilla sugar and then the eggs. Finally add the flour with the baking powder and the milk. Stir everything to smooth mass.

You will find additional recipes and tips in the recipe book supplied.

Baking waffles

Prepare the waffle mixture.

Oil the heating surfaces each time before using – not before each waffle. Saturate a kitchen roll with vegetable oil and wipe it over the heating surfaces.

◆old the lid down.

- Get the temperature regulator to the desired level.

We recommend level 3.

◆ insert the plug into a mains socket. The red power indicator (3) lights up and the appliance starts heating. Wait until the green temperature indicator lights up. This can take 2 to 3 minutes.

◆old the lid (6) up.

◆fill the middle of the lower hotplate with the waffle mixture.

◆old the lid down.

NOTE

If too much waffle mixture is used, it can ooze out of the side of the appliance. This particularly applies to mixtures with raising agents. Use less mixture when filling the next time.

If you fill with too little mixture, the waffles will be smaller.

During baking, lift up the lid briefly to inspect the waffle. Allow it to bake to a golden brown colour.

NOTE

The first waffles may stick to the ▶ upper hotplate although it was oiled. This will stop happening after a few times.

Remove the finished baked waffle.

NOTE

In order not to damage the coating of the hotplate, only use heat-resistant cutlery made of plastic or wood.

Switching off

If you no longer wish to bake further waffles, pull the plug out of the mains socket.

Wait until the appliance has cooled down before cleaning and storing.

Cleaning and care

Before beginning, pay attention to the safety instructions in the Safety section!

Clean the appliance after each use. ◆

Wipe all parts of the appliance with a ◆ damp cloth.

Storage

If you do not intend to use the appliance for a longer period of time, clean it as described in the section Cleaning and care. Wind the connecting cable onto the cable winder (7).

Store the appliance at a dry, clean and frost-free location which is protected against direct sunlight.
