BEFORE USE
- When the fryer is new, the force of the lid spring is quite strong. After the fryer has been used 10-15 times the spring force will reduce. This is quite normal.
- Remove all packaging from the unit.
Before you use the deep fat fryer for the first time, we recommend that you clean the lid, bowl, basket, handle and jacket of the deep fat fryer with warm soapy water with a soft cloth. This will remove any residue left from the manufacture of this unit. See "Cleaning" section.
DISASSEMBLING THE DEEP FAT FRYER
- Stand the appliance on a dry horizontal surface.
- Open the lid by pressing its opening button, raise it and detach it by pulling at it when it is in vertical position.
- Raise the handle and remove the basket. A device will lock the handle in horizontal position. To put the handle back into its initial position, you will have to press its release button.
ASSEMBLING THE DEEP FAT FRYER
- Stand the appliance on a dry horizontal surface.
- Place the handle into the slot on the front of the fryer. Pull the handle release button towards you and swing the handle down. This will allow you to lower the basket completely into the bowl. To raise the basket, proceed inversely.
- Hold the lid vertically and place the wire spring into the slot at the back of the fryer. Close the lid.
Wind any excess cable on the cord storage hooks area on the back of the unit.
FIRSTUSE
- When using the appliance for the first time, pour the required amount of oil in the bowl, making sure that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks indicated inside the bowl.
We recommend that you use a liquid oil that is suitable for deep fat frying. Check the label on the bottle. If you wish to use a solid fat, cut the fat in small pieces. Plug in the appliance, turn the timer knob to switch on the appliance, put the thermostat on the lowest position and add the fat pieces slowly. When the fat has melted, set the thermostat to the desired temperature. WARNING: FAILURE TO OBSERVE THIS WILL DAMAGE YOUR DEEP FAT FRYER.
USE
- Plug in the appliance and turn the timer knob to switch on the deep fat fryer. Caution: as soon as the timer reaches the "0" position, the appliance is switched off. Always make sure that the timer is switched on so that the appliance operates.
- Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. The pilot light will illuminate. As soon as the desired temperature is reached, the pilot light will go out. When the temperature falls, the

thermostat will be activated again, and the pilot light will illuminate. This cycle will go on during use as long as the timer is activated in order to maintain a constant temperature.
- When the fryer has reached the desired temperature, raise the basket by moving the handle upwards until you hear a 'click'. Now open the lid by pressing its release button.
Place the food into the basket slowly to avoid splashes and close the lid.
Lower the basket fully into the oil or fat by pulling at the handle release button and swinging the handle down. - Turn the timer to the desired cooking time. If you wish to set the timer to less than 5 minutes, turn it to a position higher than 5 minutes first and then set it back to the desired time.
- Should you realise that the food is ready before the set time has elapsed, you can either raise the basket and take out the food letting the timer continue, or you can turn off the timer first.
Use the viewing window to check the food. When the food is ready, raise the basket by lifting the handle and let the food drain. Then open the lid by pressing its opening button. Warning: be careful when you open the lid, as hot steam may come out. Be careful not to get burn.
If necessary you can take the basket out of the appliance. Caution: do not pull the handle release button when taking out the basket, as the latter would then fold in two and fall in the oil causing splashes that could burn you. - Ensure the food is thoroughly cooked inside and out.
- Your deep fat fryer does not have an ON/OFF switch. After use, turn the timer to "0", unplug the appliance and let its lid open to accelerate the cooling down.
FOR BEST RESULTS
Always dry food well before frying. Very wet' food can cause the oil to foam' and may overflow.
Food for frying should be roughly of the same size to ensure the food cooks evenly and thoroughly.
- Many types of food may need to be coated before frying - typical coatings are batter or breadcrumbs.
Always wait until the fryer has reached the desired temperature and the pilot light has gone out, before adding the food.
- Do not overfill the basket.

For 500g of chips, fry for 6 minutes on 180^ then raise the basket. Do not open the lid. -
Wait until the temperature light goes out again, lower the basket and fry for a further 2 minutes.
-
Raise the basket and let the chips drain.
For best results, before serving gently dab the chips with absorbent paper to remove excess oil. - Frying times may vary slightly on the type of potatoes used and the thickness of the chips.
