IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance.
Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the rating plate of the appliance before using the appliance.
Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use. Keep out of reach of children or incompetent persons.
From time to time check the appliance for damages. If it is damaged it should be repaired by a competent qualified electrician. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an identical power cord or a cord similar to the original one and showing the same characteristics. In case of doubt or if you do not find the identical power cord, please contact the nearest customer service.
Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever even if you have removed the thermostat.
Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.
Before cleaning or storing the appliance, always unplug it and let it cool down.
Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment.
Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance. Especially the power cord and its connector as the latter is equipped with a specific safety regulation.
Stand the appliance on a table or flat surface to prevent it from falling down.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Clean the grill and the accessories (Cf. "Cleaning and care"). It is recommended to heat up the grill for about 10 minutes without any foodstuff in order to eliminate the grease that may have adhered during manufacture and the (new) smell.
- Ventilate the room during this period.

ASSEMBLY

  • Put the grill plate in the desired direction (ribbed or flat side) on the base of the appliance (step 1), and connect the plug of the thermostat to the appliance (step 2). Check that the thermostat knob is on its minimum position.

OPERATION

  • Put the plug of the power cord in an earthed power socket.
  • Select the cooking temperature using the thermostat knob. The pilot light will come on, indicating that the appliance is heating.
  • Preheat the grill to reach the ideal cooking temperature. When the appliance reaches the desired temperature, the pilot light will go out.
  • Now put the foodstuffs onto the grilling surface.
  • Holes on the side of the plate will allow some grease flowing in the base.
    The grilling times vary according to the nature of the foodstuffs and to your personal taste.
  • When grilling is finished switch off the grill and disconnect it.

PRACTICAL HINTS

  • Frozen food should always be thawed before it is grilled.
    For a more homogeneous grilling result, it is advisable to put the food in the middle of the plate.
  • You can poor about 1cm of water (approximately 1 litre) in the base of the appliance in order to facilitate the cleaning of the base. If you want to move the base full of water, first let the grilling plate cool down, unplug it and remove it, in order to move the base separately. This will prevent water from penetrating into the electric connections,
    To grill meat, put the thermostat in its maximum position and preheat the grill. For other ingredients, choose the temperature accordingly.

  • Be careful not to scratch the special coating of the cooking plate, as it would lose its non-stick feature. Use a wooden spatula or a heat resistant plastic spatula.

CLEANING AND CARE

Before cleaning, put the thermostat in minimum position and make sure that the plug has been removed from the mains supply socket.
- Allow the grill to cool down thoroughly and unplug the thermostat from the appliance. To do so, just pull at the thermostat plug.
- Never immerse the grill plate or the plug in water or any other liquid. However, should there be water on the electric connection, wait until the appliance is completely dry before using it anew.
The base can be cleaned with water, adding some mild detergent if necessary. Never put it in the dishwasher.
- Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners as these might damage the non-stick coating.
