Frequently Asked Questions - IDJ ION

How do I connect my iPod to the iDJ?
Place the appropriate adapter in the docking cradle (top panel). Insert your iPod. Make sure the corresponding channel's input selector is set to iPod. Audio and controls are transmitted via the dock.
What should I do if I hear no sound?
Check that the audio source (iPod, turntable, etc.) is playing. Make sure the input selector is on the correct position (iPod or Phono/Line). Place the crossfader in the middle and set the line faders to 70%. Verify that the cue switch is set to Mix and that the headphone gain is sufficient.
My iPod does not fit properly in the dock.
Use the included adapter. Gently pull the adapter to adjust to the size of your iPod. Two positions are available: the first for iPod Mini, the second for larger models.
How do I use a turntable with the iDJ?
Connect the turntable to a channel's RCA inputs. Set the Phono/Line switch on the back to Phono. Connect the ground wire to the grounding terminal. Select Phono/Line on the top panel.
Does the recording output work even if the main volume is at zero?
Yes, the recording output is not affected by the Master Gain knob. Its level is constant (pre-master and post-line fader).
Can I use a 3rd generation iPod?
Yes, but functions are limited: play/pause, previous/next track work, but the control wheel, Menu and Back keys, and the connection interface are not compatible. Consult Apple for more details.
How do I adjust the equalizer?
Each channel has a 3-band equalizer (treble, mid, bass). Turn the corresponding knobs to adjust the sound to your preference.
Does the crossfader automatically stop the music?
If the remote control is activated on the front panel, the crossfader can start or stop the iPods when moved from one side to the other.
How do I connect the iDJ to a computer?
Use the USB ports on the back (cables not included). Connect a USB cable from each port to your computer to access iPod data.
What does the Phono/Line selector mean?
It allows you to choose between a line-level input (for CD player, MP3) and a phono input (for turntable). Phono position: suitable for low-level signals from vinyl turntables. Line position: for standard sources.
