Small cracks appear on the cooking stone, is this normal?
Yes, the stone is a natural product and small cracks may appear during use. This is a normal phenomenon not covered by the warranty.
Why is there an odor and smoke during first use?
This is due to the protective grease on the heating element. Heat the appliance empty for at least 10 minutes while ventilating the room. This phenomenon disappears afterwards.
How to clean the cooking stone?
Use only hot water and a soft sponge. Do not use detergent, abrasive products, or a dishwasher. Do not scrape with a sharp object. For fish, rub with vinegar or lemon juice.

How to prevent the stone from cracking?

From time to time check the appliance for damages. If it is damaged it should be repaired by a competent qualified electrician. Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician.

Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.

Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never place it into the dishwasher.

Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.

Before cleaning, always unplug the appliance from the power supply and let it cool down.

Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment.

Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance.

Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.

Stand the appliance on a table or flat surface.

Make sure the appliance has cooled down before cleaning and storing it. Attention, the stone slab keeps the warmth for a long period.

Make sure the cord never comes into contact with the hot parts of the appliance.

The temperature of the accessible surfaces may be very high when the appliance is in use. Do not touch these surfaces but use the handles.

Make sure the appliance never comes into contact with inflammable materials, such as curtains, cloth, etc... when it is in use, as a fire might occur. It is advised to place a heat resistant coating between your table and the appliance (this way you don't get burns on your table or table cloth).

OPERATION

Before using your appliance for the first time, remove the packaging materials and clean the pans and the grilling surface thoroughly with a damp cloth. Hold the stone under running water (you can use a sponge to improve cleaning). Never use abrasive or cleaning products. Rinse thoroughly and let dry. Before each use, oil the non-stick coated plate. Place the polished side of the stone on top. Make sure the stone and the grill plate are correctly placed on the base. Oil the polished surface of the stone with kitchen paper or a small brush coated with heat-resistant table oil (olive or groundnut oil). Let the oil penetrate the stone, then wipe off any excess. When first switched on, the heating element may smell and emit some smoke. This is normal; the grease that may have adhered to the element during manufacture is burning off. We therefore recommend heating the appliance for about 10 minutes without any food (ventilate the room during this period). This phenomenon will not occur in the future. Always preheat the grill plate on the highest setting for about 10 minutes and the stone for about 25 minutes before using. To prevent grease stains on your tablecloth, don't forget to place an easy-to-wash cloth under the appliance. To switch on your appliance, after reading and observing all important safeguards, plug it into an earthed power outlet and set the thermostat knob to the desired position. Press the ON/OFF switch. The pilot light will come on, indicating that the appliance is heating. When the desired temperature is reached, the pilot light will go out. During use, the pilot light will come on and off regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is regulating the temperature.

Hint: When your appliance is warming up and the raclette pans are clean, you can place them on the appliance to warm them up, but never leave raclette pans that have already been used in the appliance, as food residues might burn.

IMPORTANT REMARKS

The stone is a natural product. Small fissures may appear during use. This is a normal phenomenon and is not covered by the guarantee. If the stone has been kept in a damp environment, heat it up slowly (2 to 3 hours) in an oven at 100°C or let it sit at ambient temperature for two days. Avoid shocks when moving the stone. Also avoid thermal shocks. Never place overly large, too cold, or frozen food on a hot stone. Never sprinkle a hot stone with cold water, as it could crack. To avoid burns or fissures, never move a still-hot stone. Only place food on the stone. Never place heavy objects on it. If you use marinated meat, note that the spices will penetrate the stone, which may discolour it and impart a taste to the grilled meat.

STONE GRILL AND GRILL PLATE

  • Place the raclette grill in the middle of the table.
  • Before grilling, sprinkle the stone with salt. Use only wooden or plastic utensils in order not to damage the coating.
  • When heating (above all in the presence of oil), the stone can give off a smell and a light smoke. This phenomenon disappears after a couple of minutes. The stone can also lose its colour and become darker. This decolouration does not have any influence on the functioning of the appliance.
  • Wait until the stone and the grill are hot before placing foodstuffs on them. Control the grilling of the foodstuffs and turn them over regularly with a wooden spatula. Do not pick the meat, it could lose its juice and its taste. Small pieces of meat and fish will be ready more quickly than large pieces and will be better grilled. So it is recommended to first cut the meat or fish in small pieces of 1 to 2 cm.
  • The stone stocks naturally the heat. So you can disconnect the appliance 10 minutes before the end of the grilling. It is recommended to remove the rests of food from the stone during the grilling (with a wooden spatula). Once the food is dry, it becomes more difficult to remove it. Cut the meat into small pieces. You thus reduce the cooking time. Chop the crude meat and serve it on a plate or a wooden board. Your guests can then choose the quantity of meat they wish and grill it on the grill plate.
  • You can grill toasts in the raclette pans, cook fruit through, fry eggs or potatoes and many other things. You may serve the grilled meat with different sauces, salad...

RACLETTE

  • Raclette is a typical Swiss dish. You can obtain a good raclette by using the original raclette cheese. Take about 150-250 grams for each person. Cut the cheese into slices (more or less 2 mm thick). Prepare potatoes in their skin, which you will put into a covered bowl or on the grill, in order to keep them warm.
  • Put the raclette-grill in the middle of the table.
  • Put the cheese into the raclette pans and place them under the heating tube. The cheese will melt after 3 to 4 minutes.
  • As soon as the cheese has melted and taken a brownish-golden colour, you can serve it as it is on the plate or spread it out on the potatoes in their skin. Add some freshly ground black pepper.
  • Raclette is served with raw ham or "Bündner" meat, little onions and pickles, as well as a dry wine. After use, turn the thermostat knob to "MIN" and unplug the appliance.

CARE & CLEANING

Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance to cool down.

Cleaning of the stone grill

Clean the appliance after each use to prevent food residue from sticking to it. - Never use scouring pads. - Never pour cold water on the hot stone, as this could damage the appliance and cause splashes of boiling water. Clean the grill with soapy water. - Never clean the grill and pans with abrasive products, as this could damage the housing. Clean the stone only with hot water and possibly a soft sponge. - Never use cleaning or abrasive products, as they alter the natural properties of the stone. - Do not scratch the stone with sharp objects to avoid damaging the surface. - Never immerse the stone in water.

The stone, grill, and pans are not dishwasher-safe. If you have grilled fish on the stone, it is recommended to rub the stone lightly with vinegar or lemon juice.

Cleaning of the base

  • Clean the metal parts of the appliance with kitchen paper, a damp sponge, and washing-up liquid.
  • Rinse and dry them thoroughly.

Cleaning of the heating element and electrical parts

  • Never immerse the heating element and electrical parts in water.
  • Clean them with a damp cloth and dry them thoroughly.
