PARTS

ASSEMBLY
- The plug and cord (3) (5) of the Chocolate Fondue should pass through the hole in the center of the spinner (6).
- The power cord (3) should be inserted in one of the four notches underneath the spinner.
- Place the unit centered on the spinner (6).
- Add the 3 food trays (7) on the spinner
- Test the spinner by spinning it left and right, to ensure it can turn freely.
MELTING CHOCOLATE
- Fill the stainless steel bowl (10) with 1-2 pounds of chocolate. Place it in the base (9)
- Turn the control dial on front of Chocolate Fondue to the "II" (MELT) setting.
- Allow chocolate to melt, approximately 18 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the chocolate is completely melted, turn the control dial to the "I" (WARM) setting. If left on this position, the chocolate will remain melted up to 12 hours, keep stirring occasionally.
- You are now ready to fill chocolate molds, dip fruits, other snacks, making chocolate clusters or enjoy a chocolate fondue.
- Once you are finished using the Chocolate Fondue, turn the control dial to "0" (OFF) and unplug the appliance from the wall outlet.
- If no other perishable ingredients have been added to the chocolate, you may store the unused chocolate inside the Chocolate Fondue, by placing the cover on the top and storing in a cool, dry place until next use. Or then use the remaining chocolate in the molds supplied (recommended), also in a clean, dry and cool place.
MICROWAVE METHOD
If you want a quicker method to melt the chocolate:
- Melt 1-2 pounds of chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl (on half power for 45 seconds. Stir. NEVER put the stainless steel bowl directly into microwave oven!
- Continue heating the chocolate on half power at 45-second intervals until completely melted.
Note: Stir chocolate between each heating, as melted chocolate will keep its shape and not appear to be melted until stirred.
- Transfer the melted chocolate to the stainless steel bowl (10) and place it in the base (9). Turn the control dial to "I" (WARM). Chocolate will remain melted up to 12 hours, keep stirring occasionally.
HINTS AND TIPS ABOUT CANDY MAKING
- WATER OR MILK DOES NOT MIX WELL WITH CHOCOLATE! Never bring chocolate or finished chocolate pieces into contact with water, moisture or water-based products. (If chocolate comes in contact with water the chocolate will "seize" and become unusable.)
- Store the chocolate and finished pieces in a dark, cool, dry place. Never store in refrigerator or freezer as these places are humid and might react with the chocolate.
- Make sure the chocolate molds, spoons and other utensils are clean and dry before using with the Chocolate Fondue.
- Keep the chocolate and finished pieces away from strong odors (like onions, smoke, etc.), as the chocolate will absorb nearby odors and this will be reflected in the chocolate's taste.
- The chocolate fondue device is great to keep the chocolate at the perfect temperature for an extended period of time, which is not possible when melting chocolate in the microwave or in a pan. Also, it gives better results than bain-marie, because the steam or humidity spread by the water in the bain-marie is not good for the chocolate.
MAKING MOLDED CHOCOLATE PIECES
- Melt chocolate according to previous instructions, see "Melting".
- Holding the stainless steel bowl by the handle (2) (caution: bowl may be hot), carefully pour the melted chocolate into each cavity of the desired mold.
- Press the chocolate into the molds using the flat knife supplied.
- Let the filled mold chill or cool for 10-15 minutes.
- To remove the finished chocolate pieces, invert the mold onto a flat surface or countertop. Tap mold gently until pieces fall out. If the pieces do not remove easily from mold, let them chill for an additional 5 minutes.
Note: Use a tsp. of chocolate approximately to fill each mold cavity with melted chocolate.
DIPPING
- Melt the chocolate according to the instructions above (see "Melting Chocolate").
- Dip the desired food, such as fruit, cookies, pretzels, marshmallows, etc. into the melted chocolate. (For soft items such as fruit, insert a wooden or plastic skewer into the item first for easier handling, or a 2-prong fork made especially for dipping in chocolate)
- Place the dipped items on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Chill 10-15 minutes to allow the candy to harden before serving.
- The spiral dipping tool is made more especially for preparing truffles. Nest the heart of the truffle in the spiral fork, and then dip in the melted chocolate to cover it entirely. Lift the spiral tool and allow excess chocolate to drip off. Flip truffle onto a tray; let cool before covering in cocoa powder.
CHOCOLATE CLUSTERS
- Add 2 cups of desired ingredients to the melted chocolate (coconut, crisped rice cereal, peanuts, raisins and etc.).
- Stir to completely cover ingredients with melted chocolate.
- Drop the melted mixture one tsp. at a time onto waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Chill 10-15 minutes to allow candy to harden before serving.
CHOCOLATE FONDUE
Using the chocolate fondue device with the spinner, you can prepare a dessert fondue.
- Install the base on the spinner as described above in "Assembly".
- Fill the 3 food trays with fresh and dry fruits, pretzels, ... for presentation
- Use the forks supplied to dip the food in the melted chocolate ... Enjoy!
USE WITH CANDY APPLE / CARAMELS
You can use this device to melt caramels as well as chocolate.
To melt caramels:
- Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of water into the stainless steel bowl, and add 1 14-Oz pack of caramel to melt.
- Turn the control dial on front of Fondue device to the "II" (MELT) setting.
- Allow caramels to melt, approximately 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until smooth.
- Insert a sturdy candy apple stick in the apples. Dip apples in the melted caramels, until evenly coated, spooning the caramel on the apple if necessary.
- Allow excess caramel to drip off.
-
Sprinkle with decorative sugar candy, chocolate, chopped nuts or almonds, etc. if desired.
-
Refrigerate at least one hour or until ready to serve. Remove from refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
