025905 BDI-S 30 3210 (Schuko) 24.11.10 7:52 UCircuit breaker safety plug BDI-S 30 3210 Caution: Important safety precautions! – Its use under other conditions, e.g. in ambient temperatures above 40°C or in the presence of combustible gases, solvents, fumes, dust, relative humidity above 80% or in wet conditions is to be avoided without fail. – If it can be assumed that risk-free use is no longer possible, stop using the safety plug immediately and make it secure against unintentional use. Risk-free operation can no longer be assumed if it fails the function test, exhibits visible damage or is damaged in transit or through storage under unfavourable conditions. – Servicing and repairs may only be carried out by authorised, qualified persons. Only genuine manu- facturer’s spare parts may be used for replacement purposes. Description of function The electronic safety plug is a highly sensitive, trans- ferable item of equipment which provides protection against hazardous accidents resulting from physical contact with live leads or parts. If a potential risk aris- es, the adapter responds even at low leakage currents (minimum 30 mA), interrupting the power supply within a few milliseconds and assuring safe, swift protection between the power socket and the connected appliance. The safety plug is intended to be used as a fixed con- necting plug and permanent attachment for frequently used electrical appliances. Some models are already cable-connected. Point 1 of commissioning does not apply in such cases.
1. Engage a qualified electrician to connect the safety
plug to the appliance or extension cable in place of the normal plug, in accordance with the applicable regulations. Ensure without fail that the green/yellow lead is connected to the screw marked with the earth symbol.
2. Plug the safety plug directly into a wall socket only.
Before doing so, switch off the connected electrical appliance.
3. Switch on the safety plug by pressing the RESET
button. A red indicator must appear in the window above the RESET button.
4. Now carry out a function test by pressing the TEST
button. A distinct switching noise must be heard and the red indicator must disappear.
5. The safety plug must not be used if the switching
noise is not heard and the red indicator continues to appear in the window.
6. If the test proves successful, press the RESET
button again. The safety plug is now ready for use. Note: From time to time, carry out a function test, press the Test button and perform the procedure de- scribed above. After a power cut, switch on the safety plug again. The safety plug is not suitable for appliances which may give rise to consequential damage if disconnected from the power supply for a prolonged period of time (e.g. refrigerators, freezers, etc.).
