The Profoon TX-250 is designed for use on the 'public switched telephone networks (analogue single-line)' of telephone- and cable-companies inside the EU.

Each country and/or provider might require a different telephoneplug.

The Profoon TX-250 complies with the essential requirements and provisions as described in the European Directive 1999/5/EC.

The functions Caller-ID and VoiceMail are based on both the DTMF and the FSK system (automatic detection).

It might be possible that you have to subscribe to these features.

INTRODUCTION

The Profoon TX-250 is a telephone with built-in Caller-ID: the name (when supported by the provider or when stored in the memory) and the number of the person who is calling to you, comes on the display of your telephone.

The Caller-ID memory has a capacity of 90 calls, including the time and date of the call.

The Caller-ID is linked with the dialer of the telephone. Any incoming call can be called back.

The TX-250 has a memory of 13 frequently dialed numbers, a phonebook-memory of 70 names with telephonenumber and is a speakerphone.

Attention:

TX-250: The display is powered by 4 pcs battery, 1.5 Volt, size AAA. Batteries are included. At wish you may also connect a 9V DC power adaptor (PROFOON PCI-A9).

TX-250CW: The display is powered by the included power supply.

INSTALLATION

BATTERIES:

Open the battery compartment (bottom-side) and install 4 pcs 1.5V AAA batteries. Attention: always disconnect the telephone from the telephone outlet when batteries are to be installed or replaced.

TELEPHONE- & HANDSETCORD:

1. connect the supplied handsetcord between the handset and base
2. connect the telephonecord to the backside of the telephone; push the connectors till you hear a click
3. plug the telephone plug into your telephone outlet

PABX:

In case the TX-250 will be connected to a PABX, check if the PABX is suitable for Caller-ID. If not, the TX-250 has to be connected directly to the public telephone network.

WALL MOUNT:

1. drill two holes in the wall with a distance of 10,5cm and insert two screws. Let the heads of the screws stick out a few millimeters of the wall
2. remove the handsetholder, rotate it 180^ and replace it. This holder will hold the handset when wall mounted.
3. hang the unit on the wall and fixate the telephone wire by means of cable-clips.

PROGRAMMING

Make sure that during the programming, the telephone must be connected to your telephone.

DISPLAY LANGUAGE:

Follow these instructions to select the required language:

1. leave the handset on the cradle
2. press and hold the button
3. press and hold the button
4. press the display shows "NEDERLAND" (or another language), now release the buttons
5. use buttons and to select another language
6. press to store the selected language

TIME, DATE & CONTRAST:

In idle state, the display shows the actual time and date and with each call, the TX-250 stores the time/date of that call. Next to the setting of this time, the contrast can be set.

1. leave the handset on the cradle
2. press button R until after about 2 seconds, the display shows "SET TIME" and the hour-indication flashes, you may release button R
3. use buttons and to increase or decrease the hour-indication and press
4. repeat step 3 for the minutes, the month, the date, the year and if a daypresentation is required (a figure on the left of the display = day presentation ON; no figure = day presentation OFF).
5. press button R, the display gives "SET CONTRAST LO" or "SET CONTRAST HIGH"
6. use button and to toggle between these 2 levels
7. press button R to end the programming.

HOW TO USE

INCOMINGCALL:

Adjust the ringer volume with the ringer switch on the backside of the telephone. Lift the handset and start the conversation.

The ringer-lamp (A) also indicates an incoming call.

OUTGOING CALL:

Lift the handset. Wait for the dial tone and key-in the desired telephone number.

This number also comes on the display. Replace the handset when the conversation is over.

SPEAKERPHONE:

Press button to switch-on the speakerphone. The volume can be adjusted with the volume-switch on the backside of the telephone. Press button again to switch-off the speakerphone.

REDIAL:

Last number radial:

In case the person you were calling was busy or you want to dial the last dialed number again, this number is stored in memory:

1. pick up the handset or press button and wait for the dialtone
2. press button ; the last dialed number will be redialed

This number can be as long as 32 digits.

Last 10 dialed numbers

The last 10 dialed numbers are also stored in memory.

1. leave the handset on the cradle and press , the last dialed number comes on the display
2. use buttons and to step through the memory
3. lift the handset or press button
4. the number will be dialed

These numbers can be as long as 18 digits.

PAUSE:

In case you are using a PABX system and you must dial a prefix number (0 or 9) to get an outside line, it is recommendable to insert a pause by pressing button

after the cited prefix. This to prevent that redialing the number will go too fast.

CALL TRANSFER AND NETWORK SERVICES: (FLASH)

Use the R key to activate special services from your telephone-company or to transfer a call in case you are connected through a PABX.

TELESERVICES:

The buttons * and # are functionbuttons, needed for several telecom-services (teleshopping, telebanking, etc) or to control divers telecom devices (PABX, answering machines, etc). Refer to the concerning manual.

CALL TIMER:

As soon as the TX-250 goes OFF HOOK, the display indicates the call-duration. Replace the handset to stop this timer.

VOICE MAIL/PHONEMAIL:

System FSK: In case your provider supports VM facilities and you receive a mail, than the text 'MSG' on the display will light. After you have listened to the mail, the provider will take care that this indication goes off.

System FSK + DTMF: When you have activated your personal Voice Mail, after 5 rings the caller will be connected to your mailbox and has the possibility to leave a message.

The TX-250 has a LED lamp which starts to flash, indicating that someone might have left a message. Please note that in case the caller does not leave a

message or in case you have not activated the Voice Mail, after 5 rings this LED will flash anyway.

As soon as you lift the handset of this TX-250, the LED will go OFF so it is recommendable to first dial the number of your Voice Mail and listen if someone left a message for you.

MEMORIES

The TX-250 has an internal memory with the following specifications:

A: 3 one-touch memories for frequently dialed numbers or alarm-numbers
B: 10 two-touch memories
C: 70 phonebook memories for telephone numbers with name. This memory is linked to the Caller-ID; if the Caller-ID receives a call with a number which is stored in this memory, the display will show the matching name.

PROGRAMMING

one-touch and two-touch memories

1. leave the handset on the cradle and press and release button
2. key in the telephone number on the keyboard
3. press again
4. press one of the three memory buttons (M1, M2 or M3) or one of the keys (0-9) on the keyboard
5. repeat steps 1 to 4 for the other memory positions

phonebook memories

1. leave the handset on the cradle

2. press and hold button

3. press the display shows "ADD >>" now release the buttons

4. press , the text "ADD >>" disappears, now key-in the telephone-number
5. as soon as the number is programmed, press button and keep it pressed until the cursor starts to flash in the lower left corner
6. input the name, using the keyboardbuttons; e.g. press 3x key -5- to get the "L" ( back, next)
7. as soon as the name is programmed, press and hold until the name and number disappears and the cursor starts to flash on the right side of the display
8. program the next name/number or press to end the procedure

DIALING:

one-touch and two-touch memories

1. pick up the handset or press button and wait for the dialtone
2. press one of the three memory buttons (M1, M2 or M3) or press button M followed by one of the keys (0-9) on the keyboard
3. the programmed number will automatically be dialed

phonebook memories:

1. leave the handset on the cradle
2. press and hold button
3. press the display shows "ADD" you may now release these buttons
4. press the display shows "REVIEW"
5. use and look for the name / number to be dialed
6. lift the handset or press button
7. the number will be dialed

DELETE

one-touch and two-touch memories By programing a new entry over the old entry, this old entry will be deleted.

phonebook entries

1. repeat the above steps 1 to 5 of the instructions how to dial a number
2. press momentarily , the display shows "DEL ?"
3. press again to delete the entry

CALLER-ID

FUNCTIONING:

Just before or short after the first ring, the Telephone Company sends the telephone number (DTMF system) or name + number (FSK system) of the person who is calling to you. This can also be the telephone number of a fax or of a mobile phone.

On receipt of this information, the display of the TX-250 shows this name/number combination and stores it into its memory.

Because this information is stored in memory, at any time you can see who called you and at what time and day.

The display indicates how many calls are in memory and how many calls are received after the last time you viewed the numbers.

Please note that you must subscribe yourself for Caller-ID. Contact your provider.

MEMORY:

The memory can hold 92 incoming calls (numbers + names). When the memory is full, each new incoming call will overwrite the oldest call. Please make sure to regular read the memory and to delete it contents.

NAME:

In case you receive a call from someone which name and number you have stored in the phonebook memory of the TX-250, then the name you programmed in your telephone will come on the display. Else the name which is transmitted from the provider will be displayed.

In case the provider only sends the number and you have not stored this number in your telephone, than only the number will come on the display.

CALL WAITING:

In case you have a TX-250CW, than the number & name of the second caller will also come on your display.

REPEATED CALL:

A repeated call will be displayed as "REPEAT" in the display. The information concerning the first call will be lost, only the time and date of the last call will be memorized.

TIME/DATE:

The time and date of each call are memorized too. In case your provider uses the FSK Caller-ID system, the network provides the time/date information. In case of DTMF, the time/date of the internal clock of the TX-250 will be used.

READ THE MEMORY:

Press or to start reading.

Use buttons or to step through the memory. The rotation number and the receiving time/date is displayed too.

Do not just throw away empty batteries but hand them over to your local depot for chemical waste.

MAINTENANCE

CALL BACK:

1. leave the handset on the cradle and use or to look for the number to be dialed
2. as soon as the required number is on the display, lift the handset or press
3. the number will be dialed

ERASE

specific numbers

1. leave the handset on the cradle and press or to look for the call to be deleted
2. press the display shows "DEL?"
3. press again to erase the selected call or press to return to the idle state

all numbers:

1. leave the handset on the cradle and press or to start reading the memory
2. press and keep this button pressed until the display shows "ALL DEL?"
3. press again to erase all calls or press to return to the idle state

BATTERIES

Not installed or almost empty batteries are indicated by the flashing battery symbol on the display. Remove the telephoneplug from the telephone-outlet and replace the batteries.

You have a guarantee of 12 months after the date of purchase of this Telephone. We guarantee during this period the free repair of defects caused by material- and construction faults. This at the importers discretion. It is only possible to claim to the guarantee when you enclose your purchase ticket with the TX-250.

HOW TO ACT: If you notice a defect, consult the manual first. If this manual gives you no definite answer, consult your dealer with a clear description of your complaint. He will collect the device together with this guarantee card and the dated purchase ticket and he will take care of a prompt repair, respectively free sending to the importer.

THE GUARANTEE EXPIRES:

When used inexpert, faulty connections, use of unoriginal parts or accessories, negligence and defects caused by fire, flood, stroke of lightning and natural disasters. With unqualified modifications or repairs by third persons. With incorrect transport without a suitable packing. If the device is not handed in with the correct filled in guarantee card and the purchase ticket.

NOT UNDER THIS GUARANTEE: cords and plugs.

All further responsibilities, in particular subsequent damages, are excluded.
