7. Using the mini toaster oven

You can set a temperature of approx. 150–200°C. The maximum possible cooking time setting is 60 minutes. Please note that the cooking time for some meals is shorter in comparison with con- ventional ovens. 7.1. Notes on safe use WARNING! The appliance gets very hot during operation. Use pot holders/oven gloves for operation. CAUTION! Do not use oven bags, baking paper, aluminium foil, me- tallic or flammable objects or glass bowls in the oven. The appliance could be damaged and there is a risk of fire due to flammable objects! CAUTION! Do not attempt to cook any excessively large items. There must be sufficient distance between the food and the heating elements or the walls of the oven. There is a risk of fire due to burning food. NOTE! Follow the “4. Safety instructions” on page 86 during use. 7.2. Operating modes The appliance has two operating modes: Top heat Top and bottom heat 7.3. 93 of 102 The appliance is not yet ready for use. Use the timer switch to enter the desired time. The appliance is switched on when the timer is set. The operating light will light up red and remains switched on during the warm-up period. An acoustic signal will sound at the end of the cooking process. The appliance switches off automatically and the operating light goes off. To terminate the cooking process prematurely, set the timer to 0. 7.4. Cooking time Generally, the correct cooking time depends on the amount and type of food. Be aware, however, that the appliance requires less time to cook than a convention- al oven. This is particularly true when you cook with top and bottom heat. If you are not sure of the cooking time, start by setting a shorter time that you can extend if necessary. 7.5. Toasting with top heat Lay a maximum of two slices for toasting centrally on the grill. Slide the grill onto the top rail. Switch the operating switch to top heat. Select the maximum temperature (200°C) using the temperature control. Start by setting the timer for a short period of time (approx. 7 minutes) that you can extend if necessary. Turn the toast and grill the slices on the other side (approx. 3.5 minutes). Remove the toast at the end of the cooking time. CAUTION! Bread can burn. Keep an eye on the bread during toasting to avoid overheating. 15720 DE-FR-NL-EN eCommerce Content Final.indb 9315720 DE-FR-NL-EN eCommerce Content Final.indb 93 16.01.2015 11:37:5916.01.2015 11:37:5994 of 102 7.6. Baking with top and bottom heat Pre-heat the mini toaster oven to the required temperature level for about 5 minutes. Place the food to be baked (e.g. deep-frozen pizza with a max. diameter of 28 cm/11") onto the baking tray. Place the baking tray on the grill rack and slide it into the oven as far as it will go. Set the operating switch to top and bottom heat. Select the desired temperature using the temperature control. Use the timer switch to enter the desired cooking time. Remove the food at the end of the cooking time. CAUTION! Keep an eye on the cooking process to prevent burning. 7.7. Cooking with top heat Pre-heat the oven for about 5 minutes. Place the meat/fish on the baking tray. Always use the baking tray when cooking foods with fat/oil. The fat should not be allowed to drip into the cooking cham- ber. Place the baking tray on the grill rack and slide it into the oven as far as it will go. Switch the operating switch to top heat. Use the timer switch to enter the desired cooking time. For example, you will need a cooking time of 35–40 minutes for four 125g ham- burgers with a thickness of about 2.5cm. After half of the cooking time, remove the baking tray and turn the food. Re- place the baking tray. Remove the food at the end of the cooking time. CAUTION! Keep an eye on the cooking process to prevent burning. 15720 DE-FR-NL-EN eCommerce Content Final.indb 9415720 DE-FR-NL-EN eCommerce Content Final.indb 94 16.01.2015 11:37:5916.01.2015 11:37:59DE
