USER MANUAL 1916 ARIETE

The necessary precautions must be taken when using electrical appliances, and these include the following: Make sure that the voltage on the appliance rating plate corresponds to that of 1. the mains electricity. Never leave the appliance unattended when connected to the power supply; 2. unplug it after every use. Always place the appliance on a flat, level surface during use.3. Never leave the appliance exposed to the elements (rain, sun, etc....).4. Make sure that the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces.5. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and per-6. sons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge only if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Do not allow children to play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Children under age 8 should not be allowed to handle appliance and its power 7. cord which must be kept out of their reach. Never place the appliance body, plug or power cord in water or other liquids; 8. always wipe clean with a damp cloth. Always unplug the power cord from the electricity mains before fitting or remov-9. ing single attachments or before cleaning the appliance.

10. The temperature of the accessible surfaces may be high during operation

of the appliance. Do not use this appliance outdoor.11. It is advisable to use a suction blower or an adequate room aeration during 12. use. Never place the appliance on or near heat sources, electric units or into a heated 13. oven. Do not position it on other appliances. Supervise the appliance with care when it is used in the presence of children.14. Always make sure that your hands are thoroughly dry before using or adjusting 15. the switches on the appliance, or before touching the power plug or power con- nections.EN

To unplug the appliance, grip the plug and remove it directly from the power 16. socket. Never pull the power cord to unplug the appliance. Do not use the appliance if the power cord or plug are damaged or if the appli-17. ance itself is faulty; all repairs, including substitution of power cord, must be carried out exclusively by an Ariete assistance centre or by authorized Ariete technicians in order to avoid all risks. In case of using extension leads, these must be suitable for the appliance power 18. to avoid danger to the operator and for the safety of the environment in which the appliance is being used. Extension leads, if not suitable, can cause operating anomalies. Never allow the cord to dangle in places where it may be grabbed by a child.19. Do not threaten the safety of the appliance by using parts that are not original or 20. which have not been approved by the manufacturer. This appliance is designed for HOME USE ONLY and may not be used for com-21. mercial or industrial purposes. This appliance conforms to the directives 2006/95/EC and EMC 2004/108/EC, 22. and to the regulations (EC) No. 1935/2004 of 27/10/2004 regarding material in contact with foods. Any changes to this product that have not been expressly authorised by the 23. manufacturer may lead to the user’s guarantee being rendered null and void. In the event that you decide to dispose of the appliance, we advise you to make 24. it inoperative by cutting off the power cord. We also recommend that any parts that could be dangerous be rendered harmless, especially for children, who may play with the appliance or its parts. Packaging must never be left within the reach of children since it is potentially 25. dangerous.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

ATTENTION: When using the appliance for the first time, wash the two grill plates with warm water and mild detergent, and then oil them with a small amount of vegetable oil. While using for the first time, a very small amount of smoke may come out; this is just caused by the warming up of some components. Place the appliance on a flat surface. Make sure the plate is closed during pre-heating phase. - Plug appliance in. The temperature light (D) goes on, signalling the appliance heating phase. - Turn the dial (E) to select the required temperature setting. - Keep the plate closed during pre-heating phase. - The light (D) turns off when the appliance reaches the temperature (after about 3 minutes) and is ready for use. Note: The light (D) will go on again when the required temperature decreases. - La grill is equipped with two kinds of plates: the smooth one is suitable for preparing fried eggs , tomatoes, mushrooms, while the ribbed one is suitable for meat, as beef hamburgers, ribs, steaks, fish, etc.). VARIOUS TYPES OF GRILLING: Grilling with wide open plates (Fig. 2) - This position is ideal for grilling meat, toasts, etc. - When the light (D) goes off, open the upper plate by means of the handle (B). - Place food to be cooked on the bottom plate. Always place food towards the back of the plate. - Lower the upper plate by means of the handle (B) and lean it on food in an uniform manner. - For grilling, 5-8 minutes are required. Anyhow, time depends on personal tastes, as well as type and thickness of food. - After cooking, turn the appliance off by rotating the dial (E) to the “0” position, unplug the appliance and raise the plate as described above. Remove food by means of a plastic spatula. Grilling position with open plates (Fig. 3) - This position is suitable to grill fish, skewers, vegetable, etc. and offers a very wide surface, ideal to cook various kinds of food at the same time. - When the light (D) goes off, lift the top part holding the handle (B) until it is in vertical position (Fig.EN

4), pull it upwards up to the side guide end, move it slowly forwards and then lower it completely thus obtaining the widest grilling surface (Fig. 5). - THE top surface can be left also in semi-open position, avoiding to lower it completely (Fig. 6). - Place food to be cooked on the open plates. - After grilling, turn the appliance off by rotating the dial (E) to the “0” position, unplug the appliance and remove food using a plastic spatula. Grilling with wide open plates and smooth surface at the same time (Fig. 7) - This position is suitable for grilling various types of food using the contact plate and the barbeque with smooth plate at the same time. - When the light (D) goes off, lift the top part through the handle (b) until it is in vertical position, slightly move the grill forwards up to the guide end, and then lower it completely on the food to be warmed up, obtaining the position with the top plate raised and parallel to the bottom one. ATTENTION: Do not touch appliance housing and hot plates to prevent burn hazard. Never use metal kitchenware to prevent the non-stick coating of grill plates from being dam- aged. GRILLING TIME Sandwich 6-8 min. Sausages/wurst 8-10 min. Fish 8-10 min. Toast 3-6 min. Meat 5-7 min. Skewers 8-10 min. Vegetables 8-10 min. CLEANING ATTENTION: Before performing any cleaning or maintenance operation, unplug the grill and allow it to cool down. Never put the appliance into water or other liquids and never wash it under running water. Never use metal objects, abrasive sponges or powders to prevent the plate non-stick coating from being damaged. - Thoroughly wash the plates (C) with warm water and a normal, non-abrasive mild dish deter- gent.FR
