- Verify that the mains voltage is the same as that indicated on the type plate on the appliance before use.
- Plug the appliance only into an earthed wall socket.
• Always remove the plug from the socket when the appliance is not in use. - Always remove the plug from the wall socket by pulling on the plug, not the power cord.
- Check the appliance's power cord regularly to make sure it is not damaged. Do not use the appliance if the power cord is damaged. Have a damaged power cord replaced by a qualified service department.
- When using an extension lead always make sure that the entire cable is unwound from the reel.
- Use solely approved extension leads.

- Never use the appliance in the vicinity of flammable materials.
- Make sure that the appliance and the power cord do not come in contact with sources of heat, such as a hot hob or naked flame.
• Make sure that the appliance, the power cord and plug do not come in contact with water. - The built-in melt safeguard will be activated in the event of overheating. The power supply will be interrupted, and the appliance cannot be used. The appliance will need to be repaired by a qualified electrician.

- Never use the appliance in a humid room.
- Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface where it cannot fall.
- Never allow the power cord to hang over the edge of the draining board, worktop or table.
• Make sure that your hands are dry before touching the appliance, power cord or plug.

- Never leave the appliance unsupervised whilst it is in use.
- Never move the appliance whilst it is switched on or is still hot. Switch off the appliance, and wait until it has cooled down before you move it.
- Never switch on the appliance without filling it with the minimum required amount of fondue oil (0,45 litres) or other liquid used to fondue the food.
- Use solely oil suitable for fondues. Do not use standard margarine or butter. You can also fondue food with cheese or bouillon.
- Always hold the pan by the handles. The metal parts to which the wooden handles are attached can be very hot.
- Only metal implements with a suitable insulating handle should be used in the fondue oil. Do not touch the metal parts of the forks whilst using the fondue: they can become as hot as the oil.
• Make sure that the food is thoroughly dry before you put it in the fondue. Moist products can cause severe splashing of the hot oil.
• Take extreme care when filling or emptying the fondue pan. The inside of the antisplash rim and the pan are both very hot; the hot vapours and splashes of fat or oil can also cause burns.
- Do not remove or fit the anti-splash rim while the pan is hot.

OPERATION - Before first use
- Take the appliance out of the packaging.
- Clean the appliance thoroughly to remove any manufacturing residues (see 'Cleaning and maintenance').
- When using the appliance for the first time, switch on without the pan on the heating plate (do not do this otherwise). Allow the appliance to heat, under constant supervision, for 15 minutes. A little smoke may be emitted, and the appliance might emit a slight odour. This is not harmful to humans, and will not last long.
OIPERATION - Ways to fondue
You can use the fondue set to fondue small pieces of food at the temperature you require.
- Meat fondue: meat will be drunk in boiling oil (sometimes bouillon). With that are all sorts of sauces served.
• Japanese or Chinese fondue: meat and vegetables will be drunk in bouillon. - Fish fondue: pieces of fish will be drunk in bouillon made of fish.
-
Chocolate fondue: pieces of cake and fruit will be drunk in molten chocolate. Tip: Place a blade, placemat of other protection underneath the fondue set. The enclosed forks enable you to put pieces of food in the fondue pan, and to remove them when they are done.
-
Fill the fondue pan with a maximum of 1,4 litres of oil or bouillon suitable for use in a fondue. Do not use standard margarine or butter.
- Fit the anti-splash rim to the pan.
- Put the plug into the wall socket. The fondue set is switched off when the thermostat dial is turned fully anticlockwise. The indicator light will not be illuminated.
- Turn the thermostat dial to the required setting. The indicator light will illuminate. This indicator light shows that the heating element has been switched on, but that the required temperature has not been reached. The required temperature has been reached once the indicator light extinguishes.
- Fondue the products using the forks.
- Make sure that the food is cooked. This will require between 4 and 7 minutes, depending on the size.
- Make sure that the liquid is at the right temperature for fondueing. The temperature is correct when the liquid is bubbling slightly. When the liquid is not bubbling the liquid is below the required temperature; when it bubbles too much it is above the required temperature.
-
After use, turn the thermostat dial fully anticlockwise. Then remove the plug from the wall socket. The indicator light will extinguish.
-
In addition to fondue oil, you can also use bouillon or cheese. Cheese fondues are delicious; however, you cannot cook meat in cheese. When using cheese you will need to set the fondue set to a lower temperature than for oil or bouillon.

- Use only metal implements with a suitable insulating handle in the oil.
Make sure that the food is thoroughly dry before you fry it. Moist products can cause severe plashing of the hot oil or fat.
• Take extreme care when filling and emptying the fondue pan, and when removing and fitting the anti-splash rim. The inside of the anti-splash rim and the pan are both very hot; the hot vapours and splashes of fat or oil can also cause burns.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE - Cleaning the bowl
- Allow the bowl to cool down completely, and then remove the oil from the bowl.
- Remove the remaining oil using absorbent paper kitchen towel.
- Clean the inside and outside (if necessary) of the pan, the forks and the antisplash rim with hot water to which a little washing-up liquid has been added; do NOT use scourers. Then dry them thoroughly.
- The pan, anti-splash rim and forks can also be cleaned in a dishwasher.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE - Cleaning the housing
-
Turn the thermostat dial fully anticlockwise, and remove the plug from the wall socket.
-
Wait until the heating plate has cooled down sufficiently.
-
Clean the housing with a damp cloth, if necessary with an additional couple of drops of washing-up liquid. After cleaning, dry the housing thoroughly.
-
Either return the oil to the pan, or store it in a securely-sealed container placed in the dark. Do not use the oil more than ten times. You can clean the oil by allowing it to pass through a filter or paper kitchen towel before you reuse it.
-
Store the fondue set.

- Verify that the appliance is not connected to the power supply before you clean it.
• Clean the fondue set after each use.
- Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the appliance.
- Do not immerse the fondue set in water, or in other liquids.
• Some parts of this appliance may be sharp. Be careful not to cut yourself.
