How to assemble the slicer/shredder onto the stand mixer?

Turn off and unplug the mixer. Slide the desired blade into the housing until it clicks. Open the attachment hub cover (hinged or removable depending on model). Insert the attachment aligning the shaft with the socket, then rotate if necessary so the pin fits into the notch.

What speed to use for slicing or shredding?

Use stand mixer speed 4 for all foods.

How to clean the blades and housing?

The blades and removable accessories are dishwasher safe (top rack). Rinse immediately after use. The housing should be hand washed only with a soft, damp cloth; do not immerse.

What to do if food blocks the blade?

Immediately turn off the mixer (position 0) and unplug it. Disassemble the attachment to remove food residue. Never use your fingers.

What types of foods can I prepare with this attachment?

You can slice or shred firm vegetables like carrots, zucchini, potatoes, cauliflower, beets, as well as cheese. Use the appropriate blade (medium, coarse, or slicing).

Is the attachment compatible with all KitchenAid stand mixers?

Yes, it attaches to the multifunction attachment hub of all KitchenAid stand mixers. Ensure the hub cover is open or removed depending on the model.

How to remove the blade after use?

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put Stand Mixer in water or other liquid.
3. Be sure to turn the Stand Mixer OFF (and detach the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment from Stand Mixer) after each use of the attachment and before cleaning. Make sure the motor stops completely before disassembling.
4. Keep hands, utensils or other objects away from the attachment with shredding, and slicing blades, or moving parts while it is in operation to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the attachment.
5. Never feed by hand. Always use the provided food pushers.
6. If food becomes lodged in any blade or the feed tube, turn the motor off and disassemble the attachment to remove the remaining food.
7. Avoid contacting moving parts.
8. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
9. Do not use outdoors.
10. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
11. Do not use the appliance if the driver mechanism or rotating parts are damaged. Return appliance to the nearest Authorized Service Facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
12. Do not let the Stand Mixer cord hang over the edge of table or counter.
13. Blades are sharp. Handle carefully when inserting or removing blades.
14. Do not remove food until Stand Mixer is OFF and the blade stops.
15. To avoid damage do not immerse the attachment housing in water or other liquids.

USING THE STAND MIXER ATTACHMENT

ASSEMBLING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

1 Turn the Stand Mixer off and unplug.

Slide the blade you want to use into the housing. You will hear a click when the blade snaps into place properly on the drive shaft.

For Stand Mixers with a hinged attachment hub cover: Flip up to open.
For Stand Mixers with a removable attachment hub cover: Turn the attachment knob counterclockwise to remove attachment hub cover.

Insert the attachment shaft housing into the attachment hub, making certain the power shaft fits into the square hub socket. If necessary, rotate the attachment back and forth. The pin on the attachment housing fits into the notch of the hub rim when in the proper position.

Tighten the Stand Mixer attachment hub knob until the attachment is completely secured to the Stand Mixer. Make sure that hub knob is properly seated in the retention hole in the attachment.

USING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

NOTE: For best results, feed only one item at a time into the feed tube (ex. carrot).

Do not feed items into the feed tube by hand; always use the food pushers. If food remains in the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment after running, turn the Stand Mixer to "0" (Off), remove the remaining items, and place back into the feed tube to shred or slice again.

CARE AND CLEANING

CLEANING THE FRESH PREP SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT

IMPORTANT: The housing of the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment must be hand washed only using warm, soapy water. The Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment blades and accessories are dishwasher safe, top rack only.

After using the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment, remove all blades and accessory items. Wash the blades and accessories in the dishwasher, top rack only.

NOTE: For best cleaning, rinse blades immediately after use. If necessary, use a dish washing brush.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If your Stand Mixer should malfunction or fail to operate while using the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment, please check the following:

• Did you follow the preparation suggestions in the "Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment blade chart"?
• Did you choose a blade recommended for the type of food you are slicing/shredding?
• Is the Stand Mixer plugged in? Refer to the "Instructions" manual that came with your Stand Mixer to find possible solutions.

Clean the housing of the Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder attachment by hand only. Wash with a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash in the dishwasher.

- Is the fuse in the circuit to the Stand Mixer in working order? Refer to the "Instructions" manual that came with your Stand Mixer to find possible solutions.

If the problem is not due to one of the above items, see the "Arranging for Service" section in the "Warranty".

Do not return the Fresh Prep Slicer/ Shredder attachment or the Stand Mixer to the retailer, as they do not provide service.
