How to prepare my Kalorik TKG CM 21 coffee maker for first use?

Before first use, pour water into the tank and run the machine without coffee. Repeat this operation 3 times, letting it cool between cycles. This removes manufacturing residues.

How to make coffee with this machine?

Lift the tank lid, pour the desired amount of water using the carafe. Place a paper filter in the filter holder, add ground coffee, replace the filter holder and close the lid. Place the carafe on the warming plate and turn on the appliance. The machine keeps coffee warm as long as it is on.

Can I use the glass carafe in the microwave?

No, the carafe should never be placed in the microwave to heat coffee. This could break it. Only use the machine's warming plate.

How to descale the machine?

Pour 3 tablespoons of white vinegar into the tank, fill with water to the max level. Place the carafe and turn on the machine. Once the tank is empty, turn off and empty the carafe. Rinse by repeating the process 2 to 3 times with cold water only.

How often should I descale the machine?

If the water in your area is hard, descale every 7 to 10 uses. If the coffee brewing time increases, descale immediately. Excessive scaling can damage the heating element and is not covered by warranty.

What to do if the carafe is cracked?

Do not use the machine with a cracked or broken carafe. Replace it with an original carafe (contact after-sales service). Do not use a carafe not provided with the appliance.

Can I leave the machine on for a long time?

It is not recommended to leave the machine on for more than 2 hours, especially if the carafe is empty as the warming plate could overheat. Always turn off the switch after use.

How to clean the machine?

Turn off and unplug the machine, let it cool. The filter, filter holder, carafe and its lid can be washed with hot soapy water. The machine body can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Never immerse the machine in water and do not put it in the dishwasher.

What to do if coffee overflows from the carafe?

Make sure you do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the tank. Check that the filter holder is properly positioned and that the tank lid is firmly closed before starting. An excess of ground coffee can also cause overflow.

Does the machine have automatic shut-off?

No, the Kalorik TKG CM 21 machine is not programmable and does not turn off automatically. You must turn it off manually using the switch. It is recommended not to leave it unattended while on.

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Do not use your appliance if the carafe is cracked or broken. Use only the carafe delivered with your appliance. Attention, your carafe becomes hot during the use. Take it only by the handle.
Never touch the hot parts of the appliance (be careful, also the warming plate is a hot part!), only touch the plastic parts and take the jug by the handle.
Make sure the appliance never comes into contact with inflammable materials such as curtains, textiles, ... when it is in use as they might catch fire.
When removing lime scale, only use special products for the removal of lime scale. Never use ammonia or any other substance that might damage your health.
Only put ground coffee in the filter.
Never use your coffee maker without water in it.
Important: never put the jug in a microwave oven to warm up the coffee. We will not take any responsibility if you do so.

Competent qualified electrician: after sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In any case you should return the appliance to this electrician.

FIELD OF APPLICATION/OF OPERATION

Use the appliance for domestic purposes only and in the way indicated in these instructions.
This appliance is intended to be used for domestic applications and similar applications such as:

Kitchen corners reserved for personnel in shops, offices and other professional environments.

Farms.

The use by clients of hotels, motels and other environments with a residential character.

Environments of the "bed and breakfast" type.

INITIAL OPERATION

When you use your appliance for the first time, pour fresh water into the water tank and switch on the appliance (without coffee).

Once all the water has passed through, switch the appliance off and let it cool down. When it is cold enough, repeat the process with fresh water. Repeat this process 3 times.

PREPARATION OF COFFEE

• Open the lid of the water tank.
• Using the glass carafe, pour the desired amount of water into the water tank. Make sure not to overfill by respecting the maximum level indicated on the water tank.
• Place the filter holder into the coffee maker. Put a filter in the filter holder and, using the provided scoop, add the desired quantity of ground coffee in the filter. Put back the filter holder, making sure it is placed correctly.
• Never forget to close the lid of the water tank and to place the glass carafe on the warming plate before switching on your coffee maker.
• Press the "power" button to switch on the coffee maker. The pilot light will be illuminated, indicating that your appliance is working. A device allows you to keep coffee warm for as long as the coffee maker is working and the jug is standing on the appliance. Caution: the coffee maker will not turn off as long as you don't switch it off manually. We advise you not to let the appliance switched on for more than 2 hours and make sure that you never let an empty jug on the appliance.
• When you remove the jug from the appliance, a non-drip valve will automatically operate to stop any drops of coffee dripping onto the hotplate. Replacement of the carafe automatically opens the non-drip valve and allows remaining coffee to filter through into the jug.
• Wait until the brewing process is finished and the filter has run empty before removing the jug.

DECALCIFICATION AND CLEANING

Before cleaning, turn off the appliance, unplug it and let it cool down.
The filter, filter holder, carafe and carafe lid can be cleaned in a solution of warm water and mild liquid soap.
The coffee maker can be cleaned using a damp cloth. Never immerse the body of your coffee maker in water or any other liquid. Never use abrasive cleaning products or solvents.
- Decalcifying the coffee maker prolongs its life span. For decalcification only use products especially made for the decalcification of coffee makers.
- Never use a dishwasher to clean the jug. Just clean it in soapsuds.

If the water in your region is hard, descale your coffee maker every 7 to 10 uses as follows:

Pour 3 cups of clean vinegar into the water tank and fill to the maximum level with water.
- Place the carafe on the warming plate.
Plug in the coffee maker and press the "power" button.
- When the water tank has emptied, switch off the coffee maker and empty the carafe.
- Rinse the coffee maker two or three times by repeating the above process using cold water only.

PRACTICAL HINTS

When you notice that the coffee making process is longer than it should be, it is probably time to decalcify the appliance. Do not wait until the situation gets worse. The decalcifying frequency depends on the amount of lime in the water and therefore can be different from family to family. Therefore it is important to pay attention to this. A good maintenance of your appliance will prolong its lifespan. Guarantee claims will not be accepted for the replacement of a heating element full of scale.
